I always look forward to the NAMM coverage and drool all over the cool new stuff that has come out.

For me, the prototypes are the most interesting as I am into rare and unusual guitars. I have a Clayton that was introduced at the NAMM but which went through several changes before the limited production model came out.

Having Steve Morse there would be that much more interesting. Steve is what I call a “musician’s musician”–he has a great deal of knowledge and looks at music and instruments from a very technical standpoint. I’m sure he would be very interesting to talk shop with.

Tracy Heyder (aka Zero the Hero) says:

T, you are so correct regarding Steve’s forte in the technical world. Just listen to his various interviews and you will see where he shines most. In his descriptions of his style, equipment, technique and music period, he is very fluent and completely in his realm. On the many occasions I have spoken to him, he is very comfortable communicating about his craft and technical aspects and not so much regarding the politics or the workings of the band. So in a setting such as the NAMM, he is perfect for it. After all, he was voted “Best Guitarist” for 4 years straight in ‘Guitar Player Magazine’ where he also had his own Technical Column for years.

Good to see Steve getting some more spotlight recognition and being referenced due to his obvious ‘Super Human Guitarmanship’. Just another example of why he was chosen for the position of Deep Purple’s Guitarist…Greatest Band EVER, STILL.

    Cheers

Sounds like the prescription of a great roadie or guitartechnician.

You are SO wrong! … He was voted five years in a row! 😉

    Yes: Greatest band ever!

let’s make it six years as best guitarist for the Greatest Band. @ T–your collection is second to none-put me in your will : )

Nice try Priest and your new sidekick Sami….

He was voted Best Guitarist, not Roadie. Not only does he master his craft with finesse, he is also very knowledgeable in the field. Of course, you will never stop bombarding this site with your ill content towards the Man whom Saved Purple…..seems a pity. Your ability to frequent every page, every topic and find it in your narrow mind to eventually make the topic negative and aimed every time at your discontent towards Steve Morse really shows the ‘Cat’ influence you have developed. Selfish, single dimensional, only able to concern yourself with your own little pitiful life and totally self centered…..

    Meowwwwwwww!!!!!

    Cheers

If only they could have held the other NAMM (National Association of Mandolin Merchants) at the same time and place!…………….Blackmore could of been front of the Steve Morse autograph queue.

A fine gathering of guitarists………….with Morse being a ‘top notch’ maestro.

@ 7 Well, I think it was funny. Trace, sorry you can’t take a joke, your loss, not mine!

Well, nice try with the “catthing” but you are wrong.
I think you never got into synch with a cat.
I know your love for dogs and thats fine.
They CAN be wonderful indeed and very empathic, but to suggest cats are the opposite is plain ignorant.

A sad thing to say now :

Gillan has turned out into the worse of the band now.

Steve did not saviour the band.
Maybe it could have been grand and all but it did not.
16 wasted years in which better things could have been done.

I ll always say they have layed down some good tracks along the way.
Some enjoyable performances as well, espescially when they ventured into a different setlist.

Soundwise his sound alway was a mismatch.

Gillan on a honest day, if he still has them, will know and admit that.
Perhaps not admit, he s to fucking stubborn I m afraid.

Btw, for not all too aware readers : I ve wrirtten many posta bout things NOT Morsey.

    Cheers.

And to be fair Priest HAS written many postings bout things not Morsey…………. The other posting being namely – insulting Gillan and worshipping Blackmore.

A right Sour Puss – Meowwwwwww!!!

I see no less justification than for a JLT basher.

THS is not about Steve Morse.
He is part of it but we talk about anything from BCC, BN, stuff from the DP vaults, re issues, and yes indeed……

About some jaded old farts as well, hehehe

    Crimson Ghost says:

Let’s talk about Steve Morse at NAMM, you know, the topic we’ve been obliged to comment on? Then let’s talk about Ritchie Blackmore when they post something that has something to do with him. We need a hide button for posts that have nothing to do with it, and another one for those who start such nonsense. Some people never learn, nor grow in their narrow noodles… ya’d think by now it would be a possiblity they did. Refusal to do so reminds me of teens resisting to grow into adults, so they whine till they’re 50. Whining about whining doesn’t count, because whining breeds nothing else.

Tracy Heyder (aka Zero the Hero) says:

Priest, Us JLT bashers as you put it do so when the Subject is in that topic. YOU MY FRIEND eventually turn EVERY TOPIC into a Morse Bash and Blackmore Lickfest. Admit it. You can’t go through ANY topic without eventually complaining about Morse’s guitar and sucking Blackmore’s lute. Look over all of the present existing topics you have responded to. Every one of them eventually leads toward a Morse/Blackmore issue, no matter what the topic.

Just like the lonely chic whom has cats in the house as her only companionship…..Lonely, ornery, and stuck in the past they can’t escape. They can’t relate to moving on and progression. Like the very cat that sits on the dining room table, licking his balls and shedding his friggin’ hair all over the place for the man or woman of the house to continually sweep up over and over again because they are afraid to do anything else. Same routine like Ground Hog Day.

    Cheers

    Sami says:

Ghost is right. So, Morse with Goldy & Impellitteri, there’s a strong Purple/Rainbow-ish connection there, would make some interesting jams…always thought Goldy was the best suited guitarist with Dio anyway.

Not topic-related, but what about this new ‘super-group’ then(from ie. the Melodic rock.com): Craig Gruber, Vinnie Appice, Rowan Robertson, and Jeff Fenholt on vocals…clearly quite absurd almost.

    Cheers

    @16 So well put Tracy!!

    purplepriest1965 says:

    @ 15

Btw, Larry, whats all that “breeding” in your posts lately?

I always liked to multiply as well, in gathering plants, cd s, cats, fish.

    Reproduction is cool : )

  21. 21
Tracy Heyder (aka Zero the Hero) says:

    Reproducing Cats??????

No Brainer there…Just go to anyplace outside of 10 miles of a Chinese Restaurant, you will find a pile of unwanted Cats that didn’t make it to the ‘Cat on a Stick’. Who wants one?? “Razzle Dazzle, NO BODY CARES”!!!!

Either way, Great to see Morsee at the NAMM doing a ‘Real Guitar thing’ in the name of ‘Purple’ other than TMIB doing the ‘Lute thing’ in the name of the “green tights, pointy hat forest BN thing”!!!!

    Cheers
