“Black Country Communion is here”
It looks like Black Country Communion, or BC Communion, is the new name for the band featuring Glenn Hughes, Joe Bonamassa, Jason Bonham and Derek Sherenian.

OK, guys, start! Glenn is legend 🙂
May 28th, 2010 at 05:16The name is not catchy and too long. They should have gone for ‘Dark Country’or ‘Bleak Country’ or ‘Dead Country’ or ‘Red Country’ or they could have decided to call it a day.
May 28th, 2010 at 07:06OK, Alright, WHATEVER!!!!!!! NOW, get the cd out and do a PROPER US tour! Regards,Drdp
May 28th, 2010 at 09:36Or how about Black Country Love Communion? What a stretch Glenn!
May 28th, 2010 at 10:01Great song, incredible voice (of rock), great guitar, a very good enrichment for die Rock buiseness.

May 28th, 2010 at 10:55Great song!!
May 28th, 2010 at 15:38Yes, they do sound good together, this almost reminds me of Shape68 and they were pretty good.
May 28th, 2010 at 16:29Good name.
If the band’s name is too long for you….then I pity the fool!!!
Seriously, the song sounded alright, but I’m not sure I’m going to rush out and get their album based off that. I’ll need to see some reviews of the overall album first.
May 28th, 2010 at 16:46I am not a native english so I migh not catch some meaning specialy those between the lines, but simply BC communion sounds terrible to me.
May 28th, 2010 at 16:58Yeah, great music … but the bandname is not so good.
May 28th, 2010 at 18:38They should call it ‘Voice of Rock Communion’ 🙂
May 29th, 2010 at 07:09I’m looking forward for that band. All great musicians, with some kind of different musical background. Good for providing interesting and varying songs. Hope Joe Bonamassa sings also some stuff, phenomenal guitarist. Glenns screams sound a bite like Gillan a few year ago.
May 29th, 2010 at 19:02An absolute mistake! The name is not only way too long but somewhat unfortunate as well. I think Mr. Hughes is going too far with all this religion subject. Why not separate religion from music once for all…??
May 29th, 2010 at 19:42Like Ralle, I’m looking forward to see this band live too. I think we can expect great interpretations of Mistreated, You Keep On Moving and other mark III and IV stuff we (I) like. It’s a really exciting expectation to see them live. They are all indeed great musicians. I hope they’ll start touring soon here in the middle of Europe. The name of the band is not so important for me.
May 30th, 2010 at 08:15That name sucks.
May 31st, 2010 at 00:02apparenly…the name was made up for overseas tours///they are more then wellcomed to EUROPE and former SOVIET UNION…
May 31st, 2010 at 03:58I think the music will speak for itself and just look and listen to the musicianship here. It’s good and tight stuff and would be awesome to hear on record. When the record comes out they hould have their act well rehearsed and be tour ready and I hope it’s a success. I’m not knocking this but of course I tried to find something bogus about and couldn’t. lol!
May 31st, 2010 at 06:14Garbage USB keyboard! Nick, if you have the ability to edit my typos please feel free, it’s dark in here and I’m down for the count after being up for over a day because of a death close in the family.
May 31st, 2010 at 06:17I’ve listened this song,I find it musically very poor, the guitar does not exist, the “solo” is not a solo and GH’s performance is very boring with his unuseful screaming…he has lost the soul he possessed in ’80s..
May 31st, 2010 at 07:45a sad band…GH wishes to make a lot from what he wants out, perhpas he should try to find the essential to realize and toget the best from himself….too much confusion I feel in his mind..he has lost his personality he showed in the past…no meat no fish.
Derek Sherenian is awesome.
May 31st, 2010 at 11:38It’s nothing but an insult to a new band to expect them to play 30-40 year old hits from one of the band member’s old bands. Personally I hope they don’t play anything but band material. What is it with DP fans who only want to hear old stuff?
May 31st, 2010 at 12:43Dear Andrea……You´re bent ! I for one is very excited `bout this, and looking forward to the album and tour with great anticipation ! I agreee with Svante…..sorta ! Wouldn´t mind “Mistreated”,”John Henry”,”Burning Hell”, “Tea for one”, Kashmir and above all I´m gonna crawl ( should suit GH´s voice perfectly ) thrown in for good measure !!!! So let´s FUNK OFF & let the HARD ROCKIN´BLUES commence !!!
May 31st, 2010 at 16:12Forming a viewpoint on music is a very subjective process & best when no thinking is involved – should be the same as making music = Instinctive!!!
However, I recall the first time I heard ‘Mistreated’ – I didn’t get it! couldn’t connect! then after the fifth or sixth time of hearing it became part of me & remains a lifelong friend to this day – It feels like I wrote it when I play it (LOL).
So, advise is, never form or express an opinion of music until you’ve heard it several times, as it’ll bite you in the B**ls one day. Having said that, I don’t think I’ll listen to this again.
Blues based rock can become too much about the groove that’s why bands like LZep & DP stand out ‘Light years’ beyond most – because they had such wonderful Dynamics within the tunes – if this tune was rearranged with a few stops & key changes it just might make the hairs on my neck stand up (Oh, how I long for that experience again – Last experienced at DP concert in 1997ish with WABMCries)
Great to hear Glen’s vocal again!
May 31st, 2010 at 16:49A Purple concert probably consists of no more than 10 to 20% fans and they think more like us, but the rest are curious rock concert goers galore that the industry have banked on forever. It’s mass advertising that is responsible for it. It’s the same thing at a Pink Floyd or any other well known bands concerts. A concert is reasonably about much more than who is playing.
I’m pretty sure this band isn’t going to do a fall back-dominated set, where would it leave Joe? But I do thnk there will be some very well arranged nostalgia, I just hope it doesn’t bore the set with a bad choice of old songs.
I’m on the ‘official PR’ campaign for BCC, a phoner with Glenn is being arranged for interview and CD review at a US online magazine I contribute at, I’m sure it will be advanced before release.
Cheers
June 1st, 2010 at 00:37The video rocks. That fucking sneaky funk genius seems to be doing again what he did 35 years ago: getting into a rock band with an innocent face and slowly injecting his soul and funk into it. By the time the others notice it is too late: Glenn makes them play funk like they always wanted to do that.
June 1st, 2010 at 05:54Let’s hope he will do it again as he did then, and in two years we hear a modern day Stormbringer or Come Taste the Band. The Bonham blood is ready to funk anyway: Remember The Rover from Physical Graffiti!
Dear stefan
I’ve never thought to see/listen them makong old DP’s pieces:never mind. It is a real good point that they play their own stuff….but..I meant that the song on this webpage is not really I’d like…but the time shall give me the answer,i had to wait…but about GH I don’t like his voice as the same i appreciated with THE7THSTAR or with FACE THE TRUTH….I dont follow him like I made in the past…i hope to be not right for the future: I’ll see…
ciao Stefan
June 1st, 2010 at 19:17I also have a hard time understanding why people are associating JASON Bonham with the band his father JOHN was in. Jason has played with LZ what, one or two times?
June 1st, 2010 at 19:39OK Andrea….I get it now even though I have to disagree, in my opinion GH´s voice is just imporoving year after year…the same can´t be said about DC and IG !!! Personally I think we´re going to be pleasantly surprised !
June 1st, 2010 at 22:42Ciao Andrea !!
“Associating” is what they’re doing Svante, key word there said… it’s nonsense, they need no introduction. I’ll be all over it with a different approach. If I didn’t like what I hear, I wouldn’t, I’m too booked up already as it is.
June 2nd, 2010 at 00:36Great song!
June 2nd, 2010 at 09:14I love MK3(reunion!!!)and MK4!
Glenn is great,too!
Sounds pretty good to me..would like to hear some more new numbers from this outfit – I’m sure they will throw in a few old classics for good measure, but ultimately that’s not what they’re about. Good luck to ’em – I don’t have a problem with the name either…..
June 2nd, 2010 at 11:06I totally get, nice song and cool band although you don’t hear the keys most of the time on that recording. Small critic: The wrong notes on guitar at 2:54 and 3:07 really hurt and the sreaming in between sounds out of place to me. Furthermore Gillan did such screams a lot better. The name is really strange and not well chosen, it seems like I’m not the only one here who is of that opinion.
June 3rd, 2010 at 15:32I Love The Voice
get him on these videos where he sings for THE GREAT RONNIE JAME DIO: I miss him…
LONG LIVE ROCKnROLL OVER ALL THE WORLD!
http://www.metal.it/note.aspx/17490/
June 3rd, 2010 at 16:51Very ironic that Glenn pronounced Ronnie the best Heavy Metal singer.
Always thought he hates Metal.
Pissing on Whitesnake, Gillan and Rainbows output, saying they did not progress was pissing me off.
Way back he was on a wave riding the Hughes and Thrall thing. Apart from the horrible tendencies to sound 80 s, and we all know what that meant, it is a fine album with great vocals and melodies.
Never understood they did not do much more because he raved so much about that partnership.
Glenn can be awesome but annoying as well.
Well, almost human?
I cringed when I saw the Catch The Rainbow rendition.
Belladonna, the ANTHRAX singer another Italian hehehe, sounds with great voice on MOTSM.
Maybe Belladonna could team up with the new OTR like tendencies of the band formed around Craig Gruber, Craig Goldy and Franki Banali?
I m not that sure right now if Jeff Fenholt is a wise choice.
I would prefer Tony Martin.
Maybe call it something like IMMACULATE DECEPTION, one of the great Cross Purposses songs or Beyond the Headless Cross or Heaven Rules or something.
I think Banali is a great choice, but apart from particiapting in Ronnies STARS or Hear and Aid I dont see much legitimate connection.
I dont really like Vinnie Appice and Rondinelli is great in OTR but …….
BRING ON THE CLONES!!!!!
Everyone a nice hot weekend.
Tomorrow I ll probably to get my get myself into gear attending a DIO TRIBUTE SHOW on 013, Tilburg.
Considering the weather its gonna be more hell than heaven but I am curious what it turns out to be , and my still aching back as well….
I have to inquire more but I heard something about SPECIAL GUESTS…….
Cheers, Mark
June 4th, 2010 at 11:51Have to add……
Its not at 013
Its at La Vida
Also within a miles walk from the station.
Show starts at 20 30 and will probably run up to half past 2 in the night.
Its only 10 E and half of it will be donated to the Cancerfunds.
June 4th, 2010 at 15:01For those actually interested in this, follow the link, see the video and hear some tidbits that sound awful good to me, brutal bass playing, etc… it’s working for me. Leave you bitter pills at home, you know who you are. http://www.bccommunion.com/
June 5th, 2010 at 14:16Why so many negative opinions here? I’m waiting very much to hear the whole album of this new band! Lets hope that large audience also will find them, Glenn deserves it. During last ten years he has made more, and in my opinion also better albums than anyone else in DP-family! This is what I respect. And yes, I like also funk!
June 5th, 2010 at 18:51Yes, Glenn is the best from all DP family at the moment and some people don’t like this.
June 6th, 2010 at 10:10I love lots of Glenns work over the years but he really should contain the annoying screaming.
The trailer of Black Communion or whatever they are called now displays a great Vocal by Glenn.
Economise your singing and please stop the high Michael Jackson wannabee outings and you are one of the best Glenn.
You can do anything but you should know where to stop.
Cheers, Mark
June 6th, 2010 at 12:59exellent…and as of names,, we are very tollerant///….at least in former USSR
June 6th, 2010 at 14:50@ 37 Absolutely right, Tadaa…Bring it on Glenn, Joe, Derek & Jason!!
June 6th, 2010 at 18:45#39
well said
June 8th, 2010 at 08:11Thus far, it appears this will be a class act. Everything I’ve read and seen on Youtube is outstanding. I believe they will be a very hard/bluesy band ‘Live’. Would love to hear some tunes from Glenn’s Blues records “LA Blues Authority 1&2”, such as “Boy Can Sing the Blues” or “Messin’ With the Kid” thrown in. Hard Rock and Solid Blues would be a great combination and hard to beat.
Really looking forward to this!!!!!!!!!
Cheers
