Touring update
Here is a summary of the recent developments on the touring fronts of Purple family.
Deep Purple‘s appearance at a Russian festival on June 12 has now been confirmed. They have also a new Italian open air tour pencilled in for July, which is still being shaped up and for now remains unconfirmed by the management.
Blackmore’s Night has lined up a string of dates in Germany and Czech Republic for September. They all come from both the official website and the promoter, although Prague venue is still TBA. There are phone numbers for German tickets and fans willing to dress up are advised to contact Susanne of the German fan club for preferential seating.
Jon Lord will perform in Norway on May 23 and in Ukraine on the 31st. He will also appear at the Classic Rock Night in Luxembourg on June 23.
Glenn Hughes‘ management has announced a UK tour for September with the last couple of dates still being finalized. Tickets for the confirmed dates went on sale last week.
Joe Lynn Turner will tour Brazil this May. This is a solo tour, his band will consist of local musicians. Of note is the venue one of the gigs — the (in)famous Blackmore Rock Bar in São Paulo. Joe’s PR people have also put together a new website to promote him in the region: JLT in Latin America.
See our Purple Calendar for full details.
As usual, please email tourdates editor with any additions, corrections, etc. Or leave us a comment.
Dear ths.com admins, we appreciate your almost daily updates about DP tour dates, but pleaseeeeeeee, can you give us some info about the band in the studio. Gillan promised us to record new album in February. Now, at 14th April, still no news from the studio 🙁
April 13th, 2010 at 13:12Did Gillan break his words? 🙁
now confirmed: 27/7/10 Foro Boario – Ostuni (Brindisi)
April 13th, 2010 at 13:47soon TBA: 29/7/10 in Sicily
Did the USA fall off the face of the earth? No tour since 2004?
April 13th, 2010 at 19:13George, they still have time to do it if they haven’t already recorded it. There’s a huge gap somewhere in August or September and remember they only need three weeks to cut out an album.
April 13th, 2010 at 19:52George @1:
we have no info about the band being in the studio or going there any time soon. as soon as we have any, it will be posted.
fra @3:
thanks!
April 13th, 2010 at 20:08Still see August open into September. Hopefully a US tour in there
April 13th, 2010 at 20:46Actually they did tour the US in 2007. I saw them in Clearwater, Fla and Orlando. They were awesome. But it’s been 3 years. How about a new CD and a US tour. Morse just played here last month.
April 13th, 2010 at 22:12NEWS ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!
I just heard on the Radio here in Tennessee, just after they played SOTW and Woman from Tokyo, the DJ stated that Purple were to begin a Tour in the US in a couple of months starting in South Florida and working their way up the line…..he also stated that ‘Jethro Tull’ was on the same bill.
If you notice their present schedule, August and September are wide open. Looks like we finally get a dose of Purple here in the States again…..
CCCCHHHHHHEEEEEERRRRRRS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 14th, 2010 at 01:57..or how about a live album?
April 14th, 2010 at 08:00Another tour with no new album to promote. I’m getting tired of this and I really don’t see the point.
April 14th, 2010 at 08:58If you go to Jethro Tull’s website they are touring the US with
April 14th, 2010 at 13:53Procol Harem. Unless Purple will be an add on. The show in Florida shows them with Ian Hunter.
Anyone got news as to whether they are going to play the Download festival at Donnington or are these more rumours?
April 14th, 2010 at 15:21OMG NO WAY TRACY ! JETHRO TULL N DEEP PURPLE I CANT FRICKIN WAIT ! seen steve in ocala , WHAT A SHOW … havent seen purple since ruth eckard hall
April 14th, 2010 at 15:21Canada too please!
April 14th, 2010 at 17:24Great news for you americans. Tennessee is hardly hard core purple country though..?
April 14th, 2010 at 17:35micke @ 15, St. Louis isn’t hard core purple “country” either but when they were there in ’07 the Pageant was just jammed with fans (must have flown in from overseas)LOL
April 14th, 2010 at 22:37just kidding….I hope they play where you are, and somewhere close to where I am cause I will go Cheers
@Craig #11
it’s now very unlikely they will play download this year
download just confirmed a few more bands, and the main stage bill is almost full. also, purple are playin russia on 13/07, same weekend as download
to be honest, now i hope they won’t be at donington, otherwise they will be playing at 2pm and not even on the main stage
April 15th, 2010 at 12:57ps pardon, my comment was for Jim Murphy
April 15th, 2010 at 12:58Purple are likely not playing the Download Festival and are not working on a new album as far as studio visits are concerned. Ian Gillan however will have an album out before they do, mark my word, that is the scoop. I don’t want to rain on anyones parade but it is what it is and comes from someone working on said album. This US tour, big deal, I find it hard to swallow when I see someone make a lot of complaints about no new album whenever broad tour dates are announced here, but jumps for joy about this, Tracy? Does the thought of them passing through with nothing new to present really excite you that much, Man alive, its 2002 all over again, wait, make that 2007. One: It won’t make its way to my neck of the wooods on top of it offering nothing new, and it will CERTAINLY push back the opportunity for the US to catch them when they do finally have something new to present. Bet on this being one of, if not the last time they ever play the US, does it really need to be this assbackwards? Its the only good reaon I can think of to attend, but of course after reading here it looks like another three band bill is likely, oooh, can you feel the cheese. I’m not the least bit excited about it, however, if they do come to me in the process, I will not only be surprised, but feel at this point it will be my last US Purple concert experience.
April 15th, 2010 at 15:46Is the dj confusing PH with Purple, perhaps? I’m not saying they won’t be touring the US though, Steve Morse did mention they will be here this summer. But the only way a dj is authorized to talk that much in detail about a tour is when they’ve made a concert proposal and its been accepted. That is fact, although they are only human and can make mistakes like any other. Just sayin.
April 15th, 2010 at 15:51Stoffer @16…
I was at that gig at the Pageant. What a great venue. Was Alice Cooper there also. 5 hour drive and well worth it on both accounts…
Ghost @19 and 20…
Sorry if I am excited about seeing Purple again after 3 years. Yeah, I know….apparently no new record and I am the first to bitch about that for sure, but I happen to enjoy them either way. Yeah, I even listen to the Already Played Studio albums over and over again. Weird huh? There will always be something different live though. Even if the set list is similar, the music is generally played different each time and I do enjoy that. I also enjoy receiving my Comp Tickets and Meet and Greet passes from Roger when we go…..
Sorry you find yourself unable to enjoy our heroes these days. Maybe it’s time to switch off and find something more enjoyable for yourself…
As far as the DJ….I have no idea how concrete his announcement is. I only passed along the info which sounded pretty real to me. He had too many details and the Florida thing makes perfect sense. Morse lives in Ocala, Florida. Roger also has a home in the Orlando area….I do agree that they may be at the end of the road though, unfortunately and that is probably why they are finally returning to the US to please their personal family and friends. So in that realm of possibility or pissibolity brother, I want to take part and will drive to as many gigs as I can while it lasts….
Cheers

April 16th, 2010 at 02:54Whats or who is or are PH?
Sorry if my coin does not fall…..
Still trying to follow on here despite “everything else”.
Mmmmmmmmmmhhhhhhhhhhh, stranggggggggggggggggggggggeeeeeeeeeee
Or not?
I m not sure what to think of it right now.
I might have solidified my views sort or less on certain issues and personas but I am always open minded.
Different scenarios are still possible, I think.
But maybe I m wrong this time and is it a bit like……
“I could have told you so!”
This last sentence is sort or less a quote I once read about the demise of the line up with Tommy Bolin……
But aware of the possibility it was not said or meant really I will refrain from giving HIS NAME.
For now.(…..)
And now its up to the public to enjoy, enjoy, enjoy…..
April 16th, 2010 at 10:20@priest: PH=Procul Harum. See @11.
April 16th, 2010 at 15:03i hope DP comes back to the U.S. this time ! with all the cities to pick from here , you’d think they might make it back ! they’ve gone around the world like six times since 2007 !

April 17th, 2010 at 05:29a new C.D. would be good to see ! maybe they’ll start on some new songs during the ongoing tour !
April 17th, 2010 at 05:33Confusing artists huh……
Last year I felt exited to go to DIO in Holland and then it was terminated due to his illness.
During that days while googling for news I found myself predominantly linked to the RAPPER DIO, from Holland as well, crikey!
A few days ago it was announced that DIO was to play on the Bospop festival overhere.
Bospop usually has some great rockbands on their bill as well, so…I thought “It might be on the cards”.
Although I knew he has plans with Heaven and Hell and the DIO dates for last winter were a thing he did because of Tony Iommis surgery period, I still hoped for something.
But ofcourse, NO WAY!!!!!
I thought “Why did Ronnie not registre the DIO name?!”.
But realised his story about the DIO family.
He told people years ago that originally the DIO family is a maffiathing and it would be stepping on sensitive toes even using the name.
He went ahead with ahead it.
Maybe he asked permission?
I wonder if that rapper did the same route.
April 17th, 2010 at 10:59Otherwise it would explain another future murder in the rapbuisness…..
Glenn Hughes not touring the States?? So much for his big “SUPERGROUP”!!!
April 17th, 2010 at 15:53Tracy if DP comes to the Pageant again the first drink is on me. 🙂
April 17th, 2010 at 18:55You can bet I will be there……if They are.
I look forward to that Toast with you. Let’s cross our fingers and hope they make it there.
Cheers
April 18th, 2010 at 16:53Talking about “touring”……
This afternoon I ll be heading my ass abroad to see the OTR band LIVE in Vosselaer, Belgium.
I sa some youtubes through The Rainbow FanClan site, much obliged Frans!
It looks ” more together” than last year, it seems to gel more.
JLT sounds like it is 1982 and still manages to put the weight down.
Paul Morris sounds much better now.
One complaint is that , for now, the setlist seems fixed.
Again, I did not see the whole setlist.
I REALLY want to hold a candle for songs like
Tearing Out My Heart
Eyes Of Fire
Stranded.
Skip Since Youve Been Gone, Street Of Dreams.
I surrender remains a great song to listen again and again.
Hope that SPOTLIGHT KID is still in the set as well.
And please think about STILL I M SAD and Catch The Rainbow , guys.
I dont know if they check out his site on a daily basis….
Maybe someone forward this post to them before tonight, hehehe.
Getting in the mood now with KISS Alive 2
Take a ROCKET RIDE!!!!
April 21st, 2010 at 09:16Thanks fra.
I may do either Belfast or Cork, I’m closer to both than I am to London, I was hoping for a Gillan tour sometime this year but I can’t see that happening if he records a new DP album or they extend the current tour.
April 22nd, 2010 at 06:46Good good good, both DP Mk Morse & Over The Rainbow
here in July. It’ll be a rockin’ summer, except I
promised to take my godson to see Kiss in June…can’t win
all the time, right 🙂
