A weekend in Armenia
At a press conference in Yerevan yesterday, March 27, Ian Gillan said that his performances with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra will be released on DVD which will be available internationally. He praised orchestra’s professionalism and added that he considers Armenia his “spiritual motherland”.
The proceeds from both shows as well as from the sales of the DVD will go to the reconstruction of Gyumri music school.
On March 27th Big Ian and Rock Aid Armenia project initiator Jon Dee met with the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan who expressed gratitude for all their assistance to the country since 1988.
Thanks to News.am and BraveWords for the info.
Did anybody at the press conf. ask Gillan about the new DP album?
March 28th, 2010 at 18:47hehe, Armanian reporter said that, Deep Purple’s two members, Ian Gillan and John Dee were hosted by president Sargsyan.
Didn’t you know John Dee? he’s a brilliant harmonica player, I still remember his work in the last DP album Machine Head, which was released in 2008. And yeah, guitarist Lady Dee does a great job at the same album 😀
btw, Gillan called “spiritual motherland” to Georgia as well, 20 years ago. 😀
ahh…
March 29th, 2010 at 00:26He loves armenia more then georgia)))hehe
April 1st, 2010 at 06:28Arman, don’t you think that your answer was a VERY childish? 🙂
April 5th, 2010 at 17:54Gillan loves Georgia more or Armenia? such kind of stuff is like “who was stronger, Rembo or Jackie Chane”
he loves both, and he loves every country he visits. DO NOT be a fascist.
btw, watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clmD42QQIuc
And yeah, tell the Armenian reporters, that Deep Purple has NEVER had a member called John Dee 😀
April 5th, 2010 at 17:55George, there’s nothing strange about it…I mean it happens to be pretty often that the reporters in whatever country make mistakes. BTW, Purple played concert in Armenia in May 2010…People say it was great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvSTl5oFPPk
And I think that Ian and Tony liked the Armenian cognac very much. 🙂
