Gillan on Armenian TV
During his visit to Armenia Ian Gillan will appear on local TV on March 28. He was invited to take part in the Hay Superstar show (which is a local equivalent of Pop Idol) and he “gladly accepted”. Three of the show participants will perform Deep Purple songs and then perform two more songs together with Big Ian himself. The show will be broadcast on Shant TV.
He will also perform the planned solo shows on March 26 and 27 at the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall in Yerevan with the State Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Friedemann Riehle.

“Siobhan Magnus” singing Stevie Wonder’s ‘Superstitious’. At the end, she closes with some very ‘Gillanesk’ high in tone Screams that when I saw it on TV, my wife looked at me and said “That sounded just like Ian Gillan”. She pulls that kind of finish off in almost every performance. Almost eerie how much it sounds like him in his heyday…

March 27th, 2010 at 16:17@1 I’ve been waiting for at least one Idol to have a pair and do some DP. Those contestants on the show do the same old soul yelp time after time. They are allowed to play instruments now–let’s not hold our breath for the next IG-RB etc….
