Rock nad Volgoi
Russian promoters have announced that Deep Purple will headline this year the biggest rock festival in Russia Rock nad Volgoi, which will be held on June 12 in an open field in the outskirts of Samara. The inaugural festival in 2009 featured Ken Hensley, Apocalyptica and a variety of local bands. It attracted 167,000 visitors and was so successful that the organisers decided to turn it into an annual event.
Thanks to deep-purple.ru for the info.
…and on June 13th they might be at Donington (Download Festival)…

NEXT STEP: JUNE ROME COLOSSEUM…EVEN GENESIS PLAYED THERE AND THERE WERE 600.000 PEOPLE…I’M NOT JOKING…
March 19th, 2010 at 11:37You must be joking.
I thought GENESIS, the band ofcourse although in dubious form after the originals left the band……., had stopped existing a long time ago!!!
Does Phil Collins need more money to buy off all his former wives?
March 19th, 2010 at 12:19I hope DP play Donnington Download Festival. They never played the Monsters of Rock tours there, so I think it’s time they made an appearance at Donnington.
March 19th, 2010 at 12:23Hats off to all of you in Europe, you know how to make good bands feel welcome regardless of how long they have been around and seem to appreciate music for what it is, a feeling that never goes away, regardless of chart position or top 40 hits. My only wish is that there were more in the U.S. that felt the way you do. Seems that we in the states could learn a thing or two by observing the rest of the world.Enjoy all the Purple shows wherever they are.
March 19th, 2010 at 15:34You’re in for a treat, russians: with Hensley & my fellow
countrymen Apocalyptica on the bill it’ll be a killer!
March 19th, 2010 at 16:36Ups, Hensley & Apocalyptica were on last year, sorry…
need more coffee, obviously 🙂

March 19th, 2010 at 22:46they are more unlikely for download now, as they’d have to travel from or to central russia within less than 24 hours of their performance at donington.
