Black Country needs a new name
Black Country, the new band featuring Glenn Hughes, Joe Bonamassa, Jason Bonham and Derek Sherinian, need to think up anew name.
“There is a band already called Black Country and their legal representatives have already reminded us of that fact,” Joe Bonamassa told Undercover.com.au.
Bonamassa told Undercover that the name was never have meant to have been made public when it was. “It jumped out of the gun. It got leaked inadvertently and it has spread like wildfire,” he saidr. “It wasn’t anybody’s fault, it just got leaked. Somebody overheard a conversation. The definition of overhearing a conversation is putting it online and acting if its fact”.
“We will finish this thing in March and we’ll have a united, clear-cut name. It is still a work in progress.”

March 5th, 2010 at 19:11Black Country wasn’t a very cool name anyway. If they aim at making this something big and special, they should also come up with a special name.

March 6th, 2010 at 12:16I don’t know. The name “The Funky4” sounds nice to me, someone already mentioned it. As to the name Black Country already registered, that’s more than questionable from a legal standpoint. Perhaps I’d just go along with that name and find a legal loophole into which like legalize ex post facto that name on the basis that Glenn and Co. are worlwide known musicians. The fact that their bulk volume sales is waaaaaaay larger than the other “unknowns” might be a good legal clue here. Just let me know, Glenn, I’ll be happy to lend a hand with that!
March 6th, 2010 at 12:28Big Black Funky Booty!

March 7th, 2010 at 00:47Deep Zeppelin 🙂
March 7th, 2010 at 07:48How about Glenn Hughes MKIV or V…? This band reminds me of another one called Whitesnake. It’s all reincarnations to fill up the ego of former Deep Purple ex-members GH and DC. Wasn’t for Blackmore, Lord and Paice I doubt Hughes or Coverdale would have made it that big. Time comes to retire gracefully and with a certain dignity. Blackmore has, Lord has, and Paice hasn’t (!). So why not a trio called Hughes, Coverdale & Paice…???
March 7th, 2010 at 14:40That seems “The Old Thieves”? or maybe “WCFYM” (We Come For Your Money)? Glenn, Derek and Jason are famous for playing with anyone if there is a dollar (or euro)…
March 7th, 2010 at 18:00I’m a fan of Hughes since his Black Sabbath days, and also a fan of Jason during his UFO days. Of course here, you think first as a fan of Deep Purple, but Hughes have also a big part of Sabbath & Iommi fans (the solo Cds), and I will be happy to see him again in a band with a feeling between his Purple & Sabbath days.
March 7th, 2010 at 19:31(sorry for my poor english!)
I don’t want a Black Purple or Deep Sabbath,or something like these ridiculous names, but a strong name, for sure Black Country not the good one.
Rick STOP while you’re behind. :^)
How about calling the group……..A CHANCE IN HELL

March 11th, 2010 at 14:04They should call themselves “The New Black Country,” then when the original Black Country changes its name to “The New Black Country,” Glenn can change their name back to “Black Country.” Or just call it Spinal Tap.

March 13th, 2010 at 21:45Try to reverse the word order. I think it will sound good – “Country Black”.
March 16th, 2010 at 15:06How about More Black? a play on Spinal Tap or Ritchie Blackmore before he went crazy in leotards.
or “Can we have everything louder than anything else?” my fav Gillanism, though it’s a bit long …
or Black Rock? After all Glen is the “Voice of Rock”
Country Black won’t work, people will think it’s Country and file it under “Country”
March 16th, 2010 at 22:24Black Rock is the name of Joe Bonamassa’s new record, released this week. I don’t think they will take a chance on that confusion. 🙂
March 16th, 2010 at 22:39Svante, black, blackmo…. ah! Blackmore! Is there a possibility to listen to more GH & RB (or RB & GH, whichever) guitar and bass combos these days? The world is hungry for more of RB & GH (GH & RB, whichever) guitar and bass works… STORMBRINGER will live forever in my mind…! 1974-2010 and still that rhythm moves me on and on and on….
