That’s great, BUT…. but, no news from studio?
We were promised that DP would be in the studio in February. What’s the buzz??? tell me what’s happening 🙂

This all well and good and might be an interesting purchase of ANOTHER format of “Machine Head”. BUT… What has been going on with the band these first few weeks & months of 2010? Are they recording a NEW album? Speculation was that before the touring starts in March/April that they would be working on NEW stuff Anyone out these care to comment!

George. You’re talking about two completely different things. This has nothing to do with Deep Purple other than the fact that MH is a DP album. Its Audio Fidelity and Steve Hoffman’s project, so how can a new DP studio album have anything thing to do with this topic? The two projects are about as far apart as it gets. Hold your horses, let them breathe a bit before any reports from the studio surface. They’re working on it, just take it easy and be glad they are… give them some space.

I’m all for this release, even though it likely won’t top Rhino’s DVD-A, nor the SACD, but it might hold up to Roger’s Anniversary remaster. The poroblem with doing this to MH, is it has a lot to live up to, as where with InRock it only had the Anniversary edition to compete with for quality.

Machine Head is one of those super rare albums that continues to be an influence to this very day and it’s almost 40 YEARS old.

    Got me to thinking…..

I bought this Steve Hoffmann edition of Made In Japan in the 90 s .
Dod cost me quite much, I seem to remember. Could it have been about 45 Euro????!!!!!

Not very eager anymore to strip myself that often anymore…..
Well, not for this kinda purpose anyway.

    But its intriguing.

I must say, replaying the 24 Carat today, why did they print KARAT on the booklet instead of CARAT????!!!

    It sounds fresh and crispy.
I always seemed to remember that the BASS was better on this edition but today it seemed everything was better seperated and audible and espescially the drums.

I dont have a SACD so I dummo about that, typo intended, hehehe.
    I dont even have 5.1, so I feel a bit stupid….
    Anyway…..

Despite it all, I m getting a bit curious what they will produce after 5 years!!!!

Although very cynical I still hope they ll surprise me .
Well, a bit that this because……..
    well, ya know….

    Goodnight folks.

I’LL BUY IT. [I STILL HAVE THE VINYL THAT PURCHASED IN ’72] I ALSO CAN’T WAIT TO GET MY GRUBBY LITTLE DIGITS ON THIS NEWLY DISCOVERED VIDEO FOOTAGE FROM THE 3 SHOWS THAT MADE IN JAPAN WAS RECORDED FROM.

    Larry Toering says:

Funny to see only two people so far not relating this topic to a new DP album. Please, Drdp, how about dwelling in possibility? You will be rewarded, if so.

I hope this means Audio Fidelity and Steve Hoffman will work on FIREBALL next.

    Fingers crossed.

Can’t wait for the 8-track and 78 rpm reissues.

    Robert Daems says:

I still have an old Vinyl copy from the Fame-label (reprint from the 80’s) so this will be a nice replacement for that. (Although I still love to play vinyl).

Tracy Heyder (aka Zero the Hero) says:

T, you took the keys right out from under my fingers……

But since you brought it up, I will dust off my 8-track player and plug in my MH 8-track and listen to it just for nostalgias sake. I especially like the songs that actually are split and continued on the next track….now that is true audiofidelity…..

    Cheers

Still dreaming of the day I ll get around in achieving that situation, John.

    I have not entered the 21st century….yet.

I bought the Made In Japan version on vinyl and this guy uses the original master tapes. From my recollection of MIJ ( I have not heard this so cannot comment with accuracy) the bass was certainly more prominent and the guitar more to the fore. The gold CD tends to have a warmer sound, definately one to collect if you have high end audio equipment. A welcome alternative to the digital mixing by RG
