Paice dates in Italy rescheduled
Due to “organizational reasons”, the Ian Paice & Tolo Marton February dates have been rescheduled to April.
Ian Paice & Tolo Marton Band new dates:
8th April – Gran Teatro – Padova – Italy
9th April – Muddy Waters Live Music Club – Calvari (Genova) – Italy
Thanks to Francesco from Deep Purple Italia for the info.
As I said before gigs by the solo members of DP looked like a bad sign concerning studio activities…..
Maybe THIS is the time ……
February 1st, 2010 at 23:07Hummmm, making room for a dP recording session?
February 2nd, 2010 at 02:42Let’s hope that those “organizational reasons” are just another way of saying “studio time”.
February 2nd, 2010 at 11:24Does it mean that Paice needed more time in February because DP is going to studio???
February 2nd, 2010 at 12:01Who is Tolo Marton? Never erd’ of em. What is his relationship to the band? Thanks
February 2nd, 2010 at 18:21I hope they are going into the studio to record a new album. Lets face it, the only way they will ever tour America again is if their’s a new album out. It’s been way to long!

“Tolo Marton (born 1951) is an Italian rock guitarist and composer, who in 1998 won the “Jimi Hendrix Electric Guitar Competition” in Seattle with a song called “Alpine Valley”. His 30-year long career includes collaborations with Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker from CREAM; Billy Cox and Buddy Miles from the BAND OF GYPSYS; Ian Paice and Don Airey from DEEP PURPLE. He opened several times for B.B. KING, MUDDY WATERS, THE BLUES BROTHERS and ROBBEN FORD.”
apparently paice enjoys playin’ with him as there’s a lot of jam involved in marton’s concerts
February 3rd, 2010 at 09:14I m still puzzled.
If the chemistry is right why, like Tracy said, does it take so long to make a new album?
Like he said, they could have flooded us with material by now.
Gillan says they START with writing at the beginning of a 3 week studio trip.
Did they really not collect anything over the years from which to start?
Gillan also said….
Everything begins with Ian Paice.
Is it always like that?
I mean, does a band need a drummer to start and lay foundation or is it possible to start without him?
I dont think Paiceys dates were rescheduled due to DP RECORDINGS actually.
Ian Paice is such a pro that he can drop in and out doing HIS THING without much preparation….
February 3rd, 2010 at 12:30Tolo also played for some time, back in the 70’s, with italian prog legends Le Orme and occasionally still performs with singer Aldo Tagliapietra. One of the best guitar players to ever come out from Italy, for sure!
February 3rd, 2010 at 14:20thanks fra for the info.
February 3rd, 2010 at 16:40long live DP and Mr Paicey.

No need to ‘make time’ it was already sheduled, so were these dates, there was just obviously a confliction that resulted in post poning these dates. I caught it early and wondered myself how he was going to be in two places at the same time. Glad to see I was right, but I wasn’t losing any sleep over it.
@2
See above, haven’t seen you around lately so you might not know whats going on as we speak.
@3

Not true, the ROTD dates when finally making it to the US in late 2007 were hardly fresh off the release. But they had a big proper tour scheduled for the US in early 2006 with Aerosmith, must’ve been too good to be true? Good luck seeing any proper US Deep Purple tour again… in fact, no such thing as a proper tour anymore anyway. I just think according to their attitudes on the last US tour, they can care less about us.

One: don’t believe every word Ian says. Two: of course they bring ideas with them, but they might not always use them depending on the chemistry, it tends to overrule and scrap a thing or two.

@ 12
Did not realise I suggested that I always believe Ians words…..
February 12th, 2010 at 00:27A Album will come out, they have done 70% of it, there not in a rush as touring makes the Bucks for them! They know a new alblum will help further ticket sales, but is time off the road for them , which is £30K a man a night! You spend 4-5 weeks off the road to do a album which might move 1 million + units …So it is easy to do the sums!
March 5th, 2010 at 18:47Money Talks…
30 K is 30000 Pounds or Euro s or Dollars?
Saddening to think they are only thinking money and suggesting more than that…..
March 8th, 2010 at 17:42£=UK Pounds
March 8th, 2010 at 19:39Apart from the emberassing fact that I cant find the symbol for pound on my board……
Svante, I already RECOGNISED the UK pound symbol but K is appearantly 000?
March 11th, 2010 at 14:57Yes. K=kilo=1000.
