Double dose of Steve for California
Steve Morse has six dates lined up in California in January with his band. He will support himself, with the public debut of the Angelfire project — a collaboration with young vocalist Sarah Spencer. Back in 2008 they recorded an album, which apparently is finally coming out in early 2010. The album will be available for a special preview purchase at those concerts. Dave LaRue and Van Romaine provided the rhythm section in the studio, whereas the live lineup will be rounded out by Bill Evans on keyboards and Ron Spencer on bass..
Preview Angelfire’s music at angelfiremusic.com.
Update (Jan 4): Angelfire will appear only on January 14th, 15th and 16th dates, not on all six as we reported earlier.
Thanks to Daniel Bengtsson for the info.
Done the trip south at the Stagecoach before and once was enough for me, but I’m glad he’s doing the west. He would’t even think of coming past San Fran on any tour, so at least Cal gets to catch him.
December 21st, 2009 at 05:56Will Steve come somewhere in Europe with his band? I mean, he’s one of the best, and one of the very few guitar heroes that still have something to say… Steve, please, Europe!
December 21st, 2009 at 07:01I look forward the Steve/Sarah CD. Steve was in Europe- at the Guinness Guitar Record in Wroclaw on 1st May 2009 🙂 But yes, I’d like to see him live with La Rue and Van Romaine.
December 23rd, 2009 at 13:07MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!
Saw The Trio at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey a number of weeks ago. Nah, Bruce wasn’t present. And that’s a good thang. As per usual, jaws on the floor abounded. Will be visiting some friend’s and family in just about 2 weeks out west. Sarah Spencer and He Who Is Too Good an added and ridiculously brilliant bonus….
It just doesn’t get any better…
Va Voom!
Peace,
Ted
December 28th, 2009 at 18:27Hi guys, I hope y’all come early to the SMB shows and catch Angelfire. It’s a unique style for Steve (who already such a diverse artist). Almost the whole album will be performed!

January 4th, 2010 at 15:25The format of working with a girl in an acoustic vein seems to become a trend.
Like we had before with all those Gothic or something people going out with a classical trained female vocalist.
Avoiding the comparison with Plant and Kraus because Steve is not a vocalist.
January 11th, 2010 at 13:47So it almost seems he s doing a Blackmores Night kinda thingy….
Blackmores Night kinda thingy……!!
MMmmmmmm…….but without the madolins, harps, castles, camp fires, pointy hats, and tights……….
MMmm……..So really not much like Blackmores Night kinda thingy…………apart from the female singer thingy!
January 14th, 2010 at 09:06Just arrived back East Coast from the gig last night. Interesting to seee the youthful Sarah Spencer with the musical guidance of He Who Is Too Good. And then The Trio brought the house down the balance of the night.
The Man’s a genius….
BIG TIME….
Peace,
Ted
