Germany, November 2010
It’s not often that we get new tourdates this far in advance. German promoter KBK has announced a Deep Purple tour that won’t happen for another 14 months (sic!). The tour of major arenas will start on November 13, 2010, in Trier and finish on November 30 in Stuttgart. Tickets will start going on sale in a couple of weeks, on September 11, 2009. Further details in our Purple calendar.
Thanks to KBK and Nigel Young for the info.
So, that is about 14 months of interest for the promoter. Easy money!
September 1st, 2009 at 06:31Fine, but now this is like you know Monday comes every week and Deep Purple are here every year with 99% the same set. Nothing special as it should be when Purple is around.
September 1st, 2009 at 08:53“if it’s possible to be sad and angry at the same time, that is what I’m”
I love to see them (the people) but the DP magic is gone. And I hate that!
Want Germany the country where loads of Blackmore fans live?
September 1st, 2009 at 13:23And where he very often gave more inspired shows?
Just dreaming…..
Oh ! Bo don’t worry until then we will have a new album and a new setlist.
September 1st, 2009 at 15:05believe me and also the MAGIC!
LONG LIVE DP.
Yeah the magic is gone forever. In 1993.BTW the current lineup does not play stateside anymore.Sign of the times?
September 1st, 2009 at 16:41Hey Bo:
I have the same problem, a few years ago. And because of that, my last purple show was in 2003 with DIO as support. Before that, i´ve seen the boys on every north-germany leg since 1984 !!!
After “that little while” I am waiting for the new CD and then maybe, I will visit the band on a gig in Bremen/Hamburg…
And do not forget, there are other purple familie guys, who visit us to make some very fine music:
Whitesnake, Blackmore´s Night, Glenn Hughes, Jon Lord, OTR (in Oct. in Bremen 🙂 ….

September 1st, 2009 at 17:42Should at least be some new songs in the set by then, as long as things go right concerning an album between now and then.
Bo, do you go to all of their shows? Are they playing for numbers of people or those just reading about it on the internet?
If they can please everyone, then they can accomplish the impossible.
September 1st, 2009 at 18:01I remember visiting Trier on a field trip as a child in Germany about 1972. I recall a Roman bridge and aquaduct. None of this has anything to do with Purple, but… My thinking is if they can plan a tour this far in advance, an album should be a cakewalk. Hopefully they won’t overbook then suddenly find themselves without time to record due to obligations.
September 2nd, 2009 at 02:52It seems Germany is the fav country of Deep Purple and their promoters!
September 2nd, 2009 at 09:00if they can sell tickets now, 14 months ahead good luck to them……there are loads of tickets left in the UK for the tour in November……..this will be last time I see them in Manchester…..and then live off my memories of times gone by !!!!!
wasnt instead of want…..
September 2nd, 2009 at 10:29Hopefully they’ll bang out a new CD and then that will add like 3 new songs to the set…:-)
September 2nd, 2009 at 10:30@11
Upon releasing a new album, 3 songs have never been the case.
6 songs from Purpendicular were played for months.
7 songs from Abandon were played for months and 5 or sx of those for months.
5 songs from Bananas, give or take one which I can’t recall at the moment.
6 songs from Rapture were played for monthas as well. But of course ensuing years find them dropping it to a few.
I suggest trying to catch a show before they get dropped back to your said “3 songs.”
September 2nd, 2009 at 20:29Hi CG
When was the last time you saw DP Live?
I saw them early 2006 and am very doubtful about going again…..
First I have to fund some renovation of my cave into, well sort of, house….
Big stress but with a little help from some Belgian friends…..I hope to survive the mess.
Secondly I m very eager to buy tickets for OTR and DIO end this year, both clubcircuit which I prefer anyway……
Cheers
September 3rd, 2009 at 14:01Great point Ghost. It’s been the Purple way forever. They tour their new release heavily and as you state, while the release is at it’s New Stage, continue playing many songs from said release, but once the Promotion of said release is done, they bring forward the more familiar staples as the Base and throw in a couple from the newer releases. Personally as with Any Deep Purple person whom spends way too much time towards this band (I’m speaking from a personal point), we of course are more critical and become used to it and thereby in some cases bored. But over all, most of the folks out there aren’t like US and don’t constantly follow and compare and involve themselves to the level we do. Believe me, if MK2 stayed together, it would be the same old song and dance. It’s just that in the present media state we live in, with YouTube, internet transferred digital bootlegs of almost every gig played and whatnot, there is so much more ability to see, hear and criticize the band that before all this technology was almost obscure due to the lack of effort towards public involvement…
Lost Magic? Not hardly. Too much exposure? Probably…..
Cheers
September 3rd, 2009 at 15:49…I still keep on thinking they should paly less dates for bigger crowd…
September 4th, 2009 at 12:57Yes Tracy, magic is there – I’m the Highway Staaaaaaaaaar!! 🙂
September 4th, 2009 at 13:05The magic is gone.If mkII had stayd together(its impossible.)it would be the same old story, yeah i agree, you’re absolutly right, that’s why MKII would NEVER would stayed together.Theyr days are gone.Deep Purple it’s not the kind of band that stay on the road for 14 15 years with more or less the same personal, launching albums regurlaly etc. It’s a thing we would love, but unfortunatly it’s not that way it works. And that’s why they became…Deep Purple the best band in the world.
September 4th, 2009 at 15:46Now Deep Purple plays the same song and dance with a pasteurized guitar sound, everybody have to realese a solo efort, cause the music they made is a product just to keep the money income,so they really have to made honest music in solo prejects, cause not even them believe in the same old song and dance.
Big Ian and Rogg would have to stop and think about what they’re doind with the name the help to build. To play in cerimony in the Kremlin, opening winter games, what will come after?Wedings, private birthdays?
Too much xposure?No.
Maybe some smartness.Money talks we know.
Purple is not a product. And after a certain player quit, would be more honest to stop the activity.
Even I couldn’t watch them at those dates, hope they will bring something new there..still wish to go to Europe next year..
Purple way still continues, you’re right Tracy..
As a fan, I can only just hope they could stand the test of time on next years to come..
@ 14 Priest..
oh dear, so why are you still here cracking subjective words in this Deep Purple forum?
go and see your OTR and DIO thing..you do not need to hear DP if u don’t like it
I’m very lazy to read your posts here in this topic twice or more..
Long live Deep Purple
September 5th, 2009 at 11:30Thanks.
German dates – always appreciated! 🙂
September 6th, 2009 at 10:43Thanks a lot for these good news. Please change the date of the Stuttgart show in your calendar, it’s 11-30 not 12-30.
Lazy….
Great song……
Maybe you just need some extra coffee or…….eyes and ears to see that I m not writing one dimensional
Pasteurised guitar sound, nice find…..
Horrible screeching……was a good one too
Hehehe
I m not the only one Andre who thinks this has been an INSULT for too long, Andre….
Cheers
September 7th, 2009 at 20:59They play some 10-15 or 20 dates in Germany EVERY YEAR. I wonder how do they cann still sell tickets there?
September 8th, 2009 at 13:08Hi guys, it doesn’t matter what the set list is about or which songs they play for mouth ….it’s just the magic of the moment on stage. If you see Steve Morse playing and improvising – as well as the other bandmembers – no one NO ONE !!! is better – there are no thoughts about the fucking looser Ritchie Blackmore on guitar. The current lineup is like wine – the older they are the better they will be!!!!!
September 9th, 2009 at 12:58Hi Andreas
Are you the same as Andre?
Its loser, not looser, btw.
What do you do ?
Are you a musician, an agent?
Gute Nacht
Mark
September 11th, 2009 at 21:48I just hope Ian Gillan is still alive in Nov/2010 given his health conditions.
September 12th, 2009 at 17:04Well Andreas, deeply thoughtful text you’ve posted here. I can’t say except that your swearing on Ritchie is better then the paradox of you listening to his tunes and riffs, composed by that f…. loser (not looser). Cheers, man, really enjoyed your bright post.
