Doogie White to sing at Jon Lord concert
Ex-Rainbow singer Doogie White will handle male vocal duties at Jon Lord’s concert in Plovdiv, Bulgaria on September 1.
JonLord.org confirms that Doogie White is standing in for Jon Lord’s usual singer, Steve Balsamo, who is unavailable for this concert. Kasia Laska will sing the female parts.
Doogie White has released this statement:
I have been asked to sing with JON LORD (ex-DEEP PURPLE) in Plovdiv Bulgaria on September 1st. I will be standing in for the very splendid Steve Balsamo.
I will be flying there directly from doing vocals with PONTUS NORGREN in Sweden. When I get back from Bulgaria I have a quick turn around and head off to Turin.
In Turin I will be meeting up with Phil Hilborne, Neil Murray and Neil Otupacca to rehearse for a show we are playing together with IAN PAICE (Deep Purple).
The new Tank songs are coming together and we hope to start recording in the near future. The solo album is coming on nicely.
The Italian show with Ian Paice takes place on September 6 and is apparently free entrance. More details here.
All the best mate, have a great time in Bulgaria, with a great gentleman.
August 15th, 2009 at 11:08Great news Doogie is a great singer and a true gent.
August 15th, 2009 at 16:31Let them call Ritchie and organize Lord Blackmore’s work retrospective, let us hear real Purplish hard rock!
August 16th, 2009 at 05:09Another good choice of our Lord
August 16th, 2009 at 13:19Hey guys, I’ve got a question? I’ve always loved Lord, the most underrated key man in not just rock but in any form of music!!!! But does he play the Hammond B3 anymore with his new work? If he does, he should have kept the one he had with DP!! It’s not like Airey couldn’t afford to buy a new one!! anyway just wondering if that was the case! cheers Bill
August 16th, 2009 at 17:35Interesting combination. I wonder if Doogie’s come to hate Blackmore as much as Lord?
August 23rd, 2009 at 02:06I don’t think that there is hate at all.
August 25th, 2009 at 19:15@ 6
Where did you understand that Lord hates Blackmore?
August 25th, 2009 at 21:25@6
What are you saying? Does Doogie “hate” Lord, and now he has come to the conclusion that he “hates” Blackmore just as much…? Or…what…
I don´t get it…
By the by, i have to say i really LOVE everyone who try to use the word hate as much as possible…
Just what the world needs at this stage don´t you think…
All the best.
Sören…
August 28th, 2009 at 13:44I think the Lord/Blackmore issue comes from the official DVD release…”Come Hell or High Water”. Lord finally speaks out about the arrogance of Blackmore. He finally shows some Balls and expresses himself regarding Blackmore’s negative influence in the band….
It’s the only place Lord does this to my knowledge and it is well documented both vocally and visually….
Cheers
September 2nd, 2009 at 00:30But that was such a long time ago and we all know Lordy is known to change his mind over the years…….
September 2nd, 2009 at 16:23I don’t think Lord would change his mind on his statements regarding Blackmore back then. Blackmore would have to do a complete makeover in order for Lord to change his attitude regarding Blackmore’s behavior. I spoke to Mr. Lord a couple of times after a couple of the MK7 gigs, and he was in such great spirits regarding the fact that TMIB was OUT. He even said, and I quote: “I am adorned by this perpetual smile, which I believe is now to be a permanent part of my face”….
I’m pretty sure Mr. Lord’s last days with Blackmore in the band were enough to imbed a permanent impression on the subject. Too bad also, they were quite a great Battle Royal on stage back in the day….
Cheers
September 11th, 2009 at 17:28Lord is a very great man but I highly doubt his consistency.
Apart from that I was not there when you, according to you, spoke….
Btw, did you tell him you buggered of to the bar during his long solos?
September 16th, 2009 at 11:21Priest I don’t attend gigs and speak to the players in order to insult them. I go to enjoy the moment, and when able to have dialogue with them, it is to share to moment and talk of the positive aspects. I sometimes even have to leave in order to take a piss during parts of the shows. I try and pick the parts that I have either the least interest in, or the part that I am aware of so much due to repeated attendence. But, usually, one can still hear the music either from the Bar or the urinal in these venues, so unless something physical happens (such as water being thrown at someone) nothing is actually missed at all….
Oh, and I presume your statement…”Apart from that I was not there when you, according to you, spoke…” means you question my conversation. Well all I can say is it is true and so is the quote I submitted. There are plenty of pictures on this site of my meetings with the band at various gigs. You’ll have to read some of the ‘Tour Reviews’ I submitted along with Pictures. Yeah, we not only posed for snap shots, we actually spoke to each other also…….
Cheers
September 16th, 2009 at 18:49Like I said, not only Ritchie is a mystery.
Food for thought Jon is as well.
I feel he behaved less gentlemenlike than most people often think of him.
That does not take away any respect for his woerk, his charisma, his wit, etc
But I seriously he gets away with murder among fans while some others are being shot all the time.
At least he admitted having been a coward in some cases.
Nick Simper, you re great!!!
September 16th, 2009 at 23:28@ 15
Btw, dont forget to dress nicely for Ritchie and Candice when you go to their concert, ok?
September 18th, 2009 at 00:31I meant @ 14 ofcourse
September 18th, 2009 at 00:32As stated, I will be in full garb……when you go to a costume party, it’s an insult if you don’t dress up for the party…….
Cheers
