Audiophile In Rock is #2 on CD Universe chart
Audio Fidelity’s In Rock achieved a surprising chart success in the top sellers list of an online retailer CD Universe. As of July 29, it reached #2 interrupting a bevy of Michael Jackson’s albums.
Meanwhile this release is only at #325 in Amazon.com charts.
Thanks to JL from deep-purple.ru forum for spotting this.
I saw this and couldn’t be happier. Best hard rock album ever made.

July 30th, 2009 at 07:01People are hungry of good old Deep Purple, the real one 🙂
July 30th, 2009 at 08:05If people are buying it knowing something about what quality it is, then I’m not ‘suprised’ at all by that.
It’s an excepotional piece of work.
July 30th, 2009 at 15:12Deep Purple have quite a few top 50 and top 100 placings at CD Universe…
July 30th, 2009 at 19:42Anyone own one and offer a review of sound quality?
Apparantly, “The analog masters are put through a sonically constructed vintage tube playback deck”.
Just wondered if already owning the vinyl, the cd and the remastered cd that this is any better…

This particular one is a quality job.
I think the process should speak for itself, but I guess if one buys it, thats all they need to do in order to find out. We take our chances that way, sometimes it ays off, sometimes it doesn’t.
I like how Ian mentioned how they record through anolog and then process it digitally these days. I think recording digitally would add more white noise to the outcome.
July 30th, 2009 at 20:24Agreed. It is a quality job, and the one thing that REALLY stood out, was how Gillans vocals sounded much better (warm and realistic). I think it’s because of the lack of compression used by Steve Hoffman. WDWTWA also sounds great with Hoffman mastering.
July 31st, 2009 at 01:45And who will be top of the CD Universe chart tomorrow…………..???
Does this actually mean anything, is their a point to it?
What numbers are we talking here? ‘Thriller’ sells 100 copies, ‘In Rock’ 20 copies?
July 31st, 2009 at 07:49@5 they had a month ago anyway. Now they’re back to top 500.
July 31st, 2009 at 08:48I am probably gonna see plenty of versions or reissues so to to say, improved or not in my life time.
Anyway, I dont like to spend loads of cash and NOT having it all, warts and all.
For now I ll stay put with my Anniversary edition of 1995
