South American tour confirmed
All South American dates that we had listed for a while now, have been officially confirmed by the Deep Purple management. The only additional date is March 5 in Florianopolis, Brazil. We still do not know anything about the venue in Antofagasta, Chile, so if anyone has more information, please get in touch or leave a comment here. Likewise for any other additions, corrections, etc.
Another date have been added (unconfirmed so far): a special appearance at the Dubai Bike Week on March 20. This one comes from the local media.
The show in Antofagasta will be at the “Autodromo Antofagasta” (more info in http://www.antofagastarock.cl).
Glad to see that the dates have been confirmated.
February 14th, 2009 at 02:45Dubai? Not again… that place is nothing but a corporate grandstand commune.
February 14th, 2009 at 03:16Hey amigos Argentinos, los deep´s ya son clientes suyos. Me imagino que no cancelaron sus conciertos en Argentina.

February 14th, 2009 at 16:08Gillan remains a Great Singer..(I wait his next Morocco that we listened here trough The High.Star)
Roberto: perhaps you are stopped,LIFE GOES ON for everybody..
Nothing remains the same time after time, even the stones are consumed over time, remember this..
Gillan is Gillan.
February 14th, 2009 at 16:13I surely know that is a ‘factor of age’…I don’t blame Gillan which is my hero…I only see that He is no more able to scream…
February 14th, 2009 at 18:23I explained how the singing voice is maintained in another blog topic, but some don’t get it, apparently.
February 14th, 2009 at 19:39Roberto
you shouldn’t wear the name “Gillan’s fan”… coz as I see, you don;t know Ian Gillan… he has always had some problems with his voice from time to time… remember Live Encounters DVD??? he can’t sing there, but 2 nights later he screamed the 30 000 audience out.
Gillan maybe was sometimes in his worst form even in the 70’s, for 1 night, but the second night he could be just the greatest in the world…
I don’t know which show dissapointed you, but I’ve seen Purp’s 2008 November show in Moscow, Ian Gillan was the TOP star of the show, he screamed out the whole arena, even during In To The Fire screaming, I bet he even hitted the higher note than on the studio original. This was kinda screaming he hasn’t done before on this song, awesome…
and remember, no matter the age, no matter the length and colour of his hair, no matter what RB or other dicks say, no matter weight, clothes and of course no matter voice – Ian Gillan was, is and will be nothing but Ian Gillan. his name tells everything itselfs… Love this man…
Alf: We really are lucky about DP shows in Argentina. All are confirmed (2 dates at Luna Park Stadium in Buenos Aires and another in Córdoba at Cosquín Rock Festival). Long live DP and always are welcome in this country.
February 14th, 2009 at 20:27I know they will play in Antofagasta in a free show
February 15th, 2009 at 01:18Great George
February 15th, 2009 at 14:06George
I probably know Gillan better than you…and He is my hero and I am a superfan…so please shut up about me…
Gillan had problems with his voice from the 80 with his high and low…the problem is that now, due his age, he has no more “highs”…I say this beacause I have many 2008 bootlegs…
bout the:”2 nights later he screamed the 30 000 audience out”, do you know if there’s a dvd?what is the date of the gig?
February 15th, 2009 at 14:47thanks
He is older than me—and I can’t scream like that—I THAAAANNNKKK YYYOOOOUUU.
February 15th, 2009 at 16:43Wait for it….wait for it…..wait for it……
Come on Roberto, go ahead and ask……”What’s your favorite Color?”
You know, something Deep like that.
Cheers
February 15th, 2009 at 18:01Roberto
I won’t shout up, as I see you don’t know Gillan as much as we know here…
I already told you: November 2008 date in Moscow’s Great Olympiisky Arena, the show was sold-out with the audience of 20 or 30 000… During Into the Fire he hit the highest note, which he hasn’t hit EVEN in the original studio version, and at the whole DVD (bootleg) Gillan screams out the whole place!!!
February 15th, 2009 at 18:23Roberto, live with it! He is right about how Ian changes from night to night sometimes, and always has… you should know that much.
Actually, if you do watch the piece of crap “Live Encounters” a video I would have made sure wasn’t released if I was him, but I’m not and he obviously has no problem being seen warts and all, you will see a good few killer belts among an entire show of hoarse throated singing. So he even proves he can still wail even when he sounds like crap that night.
Your complaint about him not being able to scream anymore is verging on multiple cut and paste factors, it seems you take every possible opportunity you can to fan that flame. If anyone needs to stop something here….
February 15th, 2009 at 20:34@ roberto : don’t agree with you
@ AndreA + @ Crimson Ghost + @ George +
@ james jay + @ Tracey Heyder : agree with you all !
WHY ???
You can’t compare Gillan nowadays (2009, almost 64 years young …) with Gillan in 1970, being 25 years young !
February 15th, 2009 at 21:57Gillan was in the earliest days of rock the best rocksinger AND he still is today, 2009, the best rocksinger, his voice has changed, the way he sings has changed, all true, but nevertheless : he was and IS still the BEST ! I’ve seen and heard DP 5 times the last three years and everytime Gillan blew my heart and soul through the universe by his immense power, passion and vocal range nowadays !!!!!
I’ll keep on rocking till Ian stops singing and passes away. Probably it won’t last long after Ian leaves the planet that I will follow him. He has given me THE reason to live from the beginning I took notice of him until right this moment !!!!
And, I know : Ian is down-to-earth and probably doesn’t like the way I’m responding here, but : that’s ME and how I FEEL.
To everyone : Cheers and botooms up,
enjoy the rocklife !!!
I NEVER COMPARED compare Gillan nowadays with Gillan in 1970
We all agree taht Gillan have had his high and low (AS I SAID BEFORE) and that nowdays he can’t sing as in the 70…but what I am trying to saying is that his singing has been acceptable untill last year…not now in my opinion because I have many 2008 show bootleg and in most of them he can’t scream pretty well…(to be able for example to scream well 2 concert each year doesn’t mean so much for me…)he remains a great singer for sure…
now I really can’t believe that Tracy is more than 12 years old…ahahaahah
February 15th, 2009 at 22:19I would even say that some songs , as space trucking or highway star are played slower to let Gillan sing better…
February 15th, 2009 at 22:25I don’t blame Gillan which is 64 years old…but I wont be a blind and deaf fan…
ok roberto, I respect your opinion/feelings, no hard feelings. But in my humble opinion the quality of rocksinging doesn’t only depend on ‘screaming’ ‘how many times doing a scream’ ‘how high is the scream’ or wathever. IMHO rock is about ‘passion’ ‘power’ ‘vibes’ ‘feeling’. And Ian has still got that nowadays !
February 15th, 2009 at 22:55It is correct that you mention that songs have a different ‘tempo’ to suit the capability of the singer’s voice. But for me that’s a natural thing, that’s their way to keep on rocking ! And that’s ok with me ! I don’t expect miracles from guys who are in the rocking arena for far more than 40 years ….
Really… Roberto, you need to check shows from the last German tour, November, just three months ago, Frankfurt in particular, he rarely sang out of key at that gig, his voice was in fab shape… check the shows man, certain ones display exactly that, certain ones don’t, but it’s proof of what we’re saying to you, win some lose some, it’s only rock and roll, not a grand hearing test.
Btw, the screaming thing is of volatility in subject, for one, no one can do just that all the time, and two, it’s never really been in style anyway, so it’s nothing but dynamics to enhance with.
You’ll never justify it, you’re comparing and that’s all there is to it… you can deny it all you want, but it’s clear to see.
Besides, it’s like you think he is going to read it and completely revive himself because of your criticism or something… very child like if you ask me… I’m sure he knows where he is at in this stage of the game and does not need your coaching, lol!
Perhaps he would though, if you and other impossibly bitter fans would lay off!
February 15th, 2009 at 22:55Excuse me Roberto, I just read your comment about being able to scream 2 nights a year… now that takes the cake in describing how little you read here.
Nobody said any such thing, but it was mentioned that he has his off nights. Give me a break man, what a shallow and incendiary comment indeed.
I’m about to throw in the towel concerning this, I’ve already won.
February 15th, 2009 at 22:59Right Crimson, me and my wife were in Kassel, Germany, 2nd of November. Ian wasn’t in his best shape, probably at 87 %, hahaha, but he blew the audience into the stratosphere …….
February 15th, 2009 at 23:07And indeed : if Ian reads some stuff here now and then on the THS posts > it won’t stop him from doing all that he’s good at, hahaha, I’m sure he finds inspiration in negative comments hahaha. It will feed his hunger for rocking on ……..
So now I’m going to a rocking sleep ….
Yeah, he was a little better in Koln and way better in Frankfurt. Being there of course would have even been better than hearing the audience recorded outcome, but if it’s any indication, he was in great shape.
February 15th, 2009 at 23:52em são paulo, dia 06/02/2009 eu e meu filho já compramos o ingressos, que venha o show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
February 16th, 2009 at 00:06just different opinions…
February 16th, 2009 at 13:58I should keep on thinking about some “deaf and blind fans”…but learn to respect others opinions, I don’t criticize you so much, I just don’t need to do it…
I just compare Gillan of the last years with Gillan nowdays: slower songs with screams not well done this means something for me…
“for example to 2 nights a year” has been mentioned only by me, so…
childish is only the way you try always to say the opposite of what I tell…
to find inspiration from negative comments is something I would describe very maturer (to reflect on what you are doing…)
Compare Gillan with Mick Jagger, Robert Plant, Jack Bruce, Paul McCartney, Jon Anderson, Bob Dylan, Roger Waters, Brian Johnson, Ronnie Dio, Samy Hagar, MArk Farner, Don Henley, Steven Tyler, and Ray Davie.
All of the rock singers above are now 60 or more.
As long as it concerns with nowadays parameters such as frequent shows and touring, new music, quality of voice, musicianship, age, charisma on stage and daily life, humbility, matter of high and low range, the degree of song’s difficulty, and the degree of set list’s difficulty itself; the award goes to Ian Gillan!!
February 16th, 2009 at 15:19#27 roberto : to whom are you responding ? To me, crimson or anyone else ?
February 16th, 2009 at 18:03I don’t get the clue, maybe I’m missing something ….
Cheers.
# 28 andre : nothing to add, you’re completely right !
February 16th, 2009 at 18:06Cheers.
@27
Roberto, there is a name for what you’re consumed with, it’s called “cynicism” and if you care about your good mental health, try to taper it, it does wonders and can be very liberating.
I totally disagree with you because you’re trying to claim “blindness” of enthusiastic fans, and it doesn’t work that way… you’re either a positive or a negative energy, and if you’re torn between the two and come off that way by design here or anywhere else, you will be addressed by the positive.
Just because someone else is satisfied or ecstatic, doesn’t mean you have to be, but to knock on the same door all the time, get’s the same reaction every time. As I said, live with the things you can’t do anything about, or sod it, but bitching endlessly about the same old stuff never did a damn thing for anyone, it’s immature.
February 16th, 2009 at 19:00in my life,
I can try respect the maximum possible points of view of others, but all is impossible …
^^^°”°^^^
February 17th, 2009 at 08:44So can I, as long as it variates from time to time.(shows flexibility)
Otherwise it can be like a bad joke, you give it a chance but it doesn’t even make you chuckle, especially after hearing it over and over.
Thank god for small sacrifices.
February 17th, 2009 at 08:56it would so easy to make positive comments and let you satisfy…but that would be immature for me…
February 17th, 2009 at 10:19Makes perfect sense, to a kid maybe. That’s not all that’s immature for you, nice try though.
Keep trying, or digging that is.
Are you at work with a hard ass boss or something? On your break when you post, it would explain a lot, lol!
Cheer up and get some fresh air instead, he or she will find someone else to bother.[sic!]
Cheers to the world in fact, especially everybody in here!
LOVE AND PEACE – I hope that doesn’t sting!
February 17th, 2009 at 10:41Ahahah
February 17th, 2009 at 20:35I am an happy student…I am sorry for you…
my opinion against your…
Your opinion is your truth, just not THE truth.
What are you on about? Happy to differ? Good for you, keep sulking then if that’s your lot in life, but one more time… stop acting like you expect no counter vibes from it, you know you get off on it. It’s the one sure thing around here.
You engage negative vibes nearly every post, just curious, how old are you?
February 17th, 2009 at 21:01for sure my opinion is my truth, not your…
February 17th, 2009 at 22:57happy to differ?no…
happy to have my head and to use whatever people like it or not…
take it easy crimson and try to be more relaxed…
cheers
roberto…… please go to sleep at 10 oclock after that is just to much crap getting out of your mouth….. long live DP, CHEERS.
February 18th, 2009 at 14:00#18 you get it. we all get older-slower–but some slow it down better than others. thanks.
February 18th, 2009 at 16:39@38
Don’t steal my advice and give it back to me Roberto, just shut up with the doom and gloom and trying to justify it as healthy and constructive, it’s oxymoronic! The two are not bed fellows, they hold opposite meanings altogether, so don’t mix them, it will never work.
Admit it, you just get off on being a whiner, period.
You’re the kind of person with mistrust issues for sure, whine whine whine, and oh yeah, plenty of cheesefare.
There, I finally said something about YOU, as you like to think every word of it is, but remember, still addressing it via the things you say.
February 18th, 2009 at 20:04@40 AND 41
JUST CHILDREN…
February 24th, 2009 at 20:29sorry @39 and 41…just children’s whimsy…
February 24th, 2009 at 20:33what you say is totally out of place…ridiculous…
melting deep purple discussion with personal issues isn’t oxymoronic???…I can’t believe your comment…”You’re the kind of person with mistrust issues for sure”: it seems you are saying this to yourself…
February 24th, 2009 at 20:37
