The other eye to Europe

Photo © 2007 Nick Soveiko

Ian Gillan is doing a media blitz around Europe for his new solo album One Eye To Morocco. Tonight, January 26, he will appear on Capital Radio in Italy. You can listen to it online (if you’re lucky that is, I got an error message in Italian).

Over the next two weeks his promo tour will also take him to Brussels, Amsterdam, Paris, Warsaw, Prague and Hamburg. We will post details when (and if) we get them.

Thanks to Drew Thompson and Mirko for the info.

Even a one eyed guy will wink at a beautiful woman

Yes, and at that very moment….He is a Blind Man…..

When a ‘One Eyed Man Cries’, does he still shed tears from the empty socket????? Hmmmmmm.

Looks like it came from “Themes”
I’m so glad they decided to share the news here.
It’s no wonder I’m getting the shaft at the moment.
Oh well, it’s payback to all the Euro’s who got passed up on the Gillan’s Inn tour, it really is how the ball bounces.

The thing is, if this album is great, it won’t make any difference, it will still receive limited coverage, and there is other work to do. Shame.

I am just listening the radio…but when will be done this interview?I can’t hold on all night long…

i think you’re under the impression that he is playing gigs. he is not. it’s just interviews and media appearances.

    Roberto:
we didn’t get a particular time when he is supposed to be on. sorry!

    Crimson Ghost says:

Not what I was thinking Nick, but I can see how it looks too, oops.

I just meant promo honors seem to be a matter of Ian’s current location and schedule, which is inevitable, but frustrating, such as the Gillan’s Inn tour not happening in Europe was to many expressions.

Trust me folks, Eagle are not exactly on the ball, but I think Ian himself is controlling things very tightly. This is not really typical of him so I just hope the album defies all prediction at this point, as it’s all very small time under my microscope, so far anyway.

Anyone else having problems with Max @Eagle? He is either very busy or just plain unapproachable, even by way of being sent to him by his colleagues.(starting to irritate)lol!

    Russ says:

I’m looking forward to this one.

Anyone know when the first track is going to get released? Usually they hit a few weeks before the CD comes.

Any chance of knowing when and at which radio station Ian will appear in Warsaw? I think it might be 3 Unit of Polish Radio, but I am not quite sure…

when ou think you will have the promo cd to make us a review?

    thanks

    purplepriest1965 says:

Indeed, I read falsely that it would be gigs
I already found that strange, shows shortly announced …..a great recipe for low attendance
    Well, maybe shows will follow!

  15. 15
    Rascal says:

    To be misled……………………

I sat at a table where were rich food and wine in abundance, and obsequious attendance, but sincerity and truth were not; and I went away hungry from the inhospitable board

    Amsterdam? When, where?

  18. 18
    SEVEN-47 says:

He probably has given up on The U.S.! I attended a solo show in 2006, and I doubt that there was even 125 people there. It was an awesome show, and everyone had a good time. Ian hung out afterward, having beers with fans and signing autographs. It’s probably not cost effective to come here! 🙁

  19. 19
    Crimson Ghost says:

By far the smallest attended show on that tour by far. Most venues were filled to capacity, the show I attended was sold out by showtime. A lot of those type of shows get a lot of late ticket sales. Sounds like the aftershow was for everyone, which would have made that gig memorable to say the least, I was in a crowded dressing room with tight security.

The main reason they were able to do it is because the record company backed it, like record companies used to ALWAYS do for their artists. Immergent were very kind to Ian Gillan, despite a jerk or two in the camp that I’m glad have been replaced.

    SEVEN-47 says:

I’ll guarantee it was the most memobable show I’ve ever seen. I couldn’t get over how much of a “Regular Guy” Mr. Gillan is.

In Holland lots of people tend to say that Franz Bauer, a big favourite singer over here…..not with me, is so cool because he stayed so regular!!!!!

I dont think thats a compliment, hehehe

    AndreA says:

yesteray,in the later afternoon I went to a radioFM studio here in Milano (this radio is called RADIOLOMBARDIA).

the dj (Marco G. that is a kind friend of mine) had 30′ about of interview with Gillan and he invited to me to come to the radio.

So I brought my book “child in time” of Gillan..
I could not stay with them during the interview so I stayed near to the reception for waiting they finish.

After 30′ they got out from the studio.room so I could meet him directly..He was taking the exit when i asked to him his sign on the book and onephoto together.

This was my 3rd time I stay near to him..time has past..he looks older than before of course..but it remains a cool gentle and simple man,he does not show to be a rockstar,he show his normality to the people…

    very gentleman…

After Gillan leaved the radio,I spoke with dj..
He had good impression of him as man..
The new Gillan’s (dj tell to me) is easy rock jazzlyblues, taken from live-direct (you can listen
small subtle noises environment among the songs..I think they recordered like Gillan did with Gillan’s Inn)…

    Another curiousity..
We all know that Gillan has been always a fan of Elvis Presley..
Gillan tells that in seventies in USA one day they were in a bar-saloon where there was also for coincidence Elvis.
Gillan was appalled, because he saw a sick man and fattened in an absurd..Gillan has always loved Presley but more in the first period of his career, when Elvis was more rock n roll, younger .. and so Gillan was unable to approach him to salute him.

This fact has become the remorse of his life .. but He had no courage to do it so as he was remained petrified by that figure of Presley..

The interview will be transmitted on radio about in the middle of febbraury (www.radiolombardia.it).

I’ll try to know in time the exact date and timehour in order to warn,to advise you all…

    Gillan is a Great Man..

When I salute him before he goes I said
“Wishin’Well Gillan” with hand in hand and He answered
“I thank you” with a shy voice…(perhaps he was tired by travelling..)

    so Dear Friends
    I salute You All

    Wishin’Well

    oh soory..
when you wrote MILAN I thought to football..

    so..

yes,Gillan was in the town of Milan to go 2 radioFM studios..

I met him…I live in Milan (bad town..no good to live into)

  32. 32
    Rascal says:

Some people believe that football is a matter of life and death. Im very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that”

Bill Shankly – Former Liverpool Manager

    Says it all

  33. 33
    AndreA says:

    Dear Rascal,
I have never thought that believeing in football is a matter of life and death in my life..

I could only for my freedom, but I find my Italy very dangerous for it…I hate my nation..

There are a lot of reasons why I think and I say so,this…
My nation is very conservative, false moralism is full overwhere here..

in the world and in europe there is a economic crise, and in Italy you can smell it before than other places, people get to be afraid and for this a kind of fighting start among the people.

The ignorance,no-tollerance and hate is possible to taste, mainly among poor and ignorant people.

and all governments exploited this situation for their pleasures.

who is commanding is going to be more and more powerful at the expense of the common people.

here in Italy (sorry: italy) is just stealing money and the poor increases; History always repeats itself, we now have a dictatorship “democratic”.

I have always loved football for his colours, for his t-shirt,for his performance in soccer field (do you remember the goals that Kakà made in Manchester 2 years ago VS Manchester utd? wonderful playing!) …but today you understand that the system of football is corrupt as the whole economy because the only interest are the money..Abrhamovic (chelsea fc president) is strange kind of…I regret that in England the Arabs are buying football clubs … there’s something wrong…

I find normal that a little childe falls in “love” with football..and like a bet a child choose his favourite team until the end of life.

it is normal if I say that my favourite football era belong to the past…

I’ll never buy a pay tv,mainly for football..
I find that people is sick when he try to get anything for his life with payment..it is stupid..
Nowdays people are accustomed to do anything as long as they pull out the money..this way does not belong to me.

when all the money disappear, eventually everyone will understand what anyone was idiot in the past.

    AndreA says:

on 3rd of feb. Ritchie Blackmore will be on stage here in Milan with his blonde…but to be sincere I am not involved..and I’ll not go there..
I prefer camomile in my bed..

My adrenaline is for the new Gillan’s solo,I have just to wait before to buy it!
I am looking foward to ONLY it!

  35. 35
    Rascal says:

AndreA…………..My reference to football is the opposite to my feelings for it. I agree the money drives this game(?),instead of competition……I have no time for it.

Whoever you vote for, government wins

A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves

    Just me for you
    And you for me alone
Nobody near us to see us or hear us,
    No friends or relations
    On weekend vacations,
We won’t have it known, dear,
