Montreux’2006 on big screen

View of downtown Montreux

Deep Purple’s performance headlining the 40th Montreux Jazz Festival is coming to a big screen near you. That is, if you live in certain states. On April 28th a company called The Bigger Picture will be showing two concerts in select movie theaters across the United States. Alongside with Montreux’2006 (which was shot in high definition), Queen Live in Montreal’81 will get the red carpet treatment.

You can find a location near you at TheBiggerPicture.us.

Thanks to Blabbermouth.net and Daniel Bengtsson for the info.

That’s great news! But only for American fans… In Europe they are showing U2 3D, which from what I heard is a very poor thing. I wish I had a chance to see Purple on a big screen, now that must be fun 😀

I have already seen Live At Montreux 2006 in Tbilisi, Georgia. This live was broadcasted in the Tbilisi Cinema House, on big screen.

it was just amazing… while playing Well Dressed Guitar (WDG) me and the whole audience in the hall were applausing like the audience on the DVD.

    Tracy Heyder says:

I checked it out. It is playing in a town approx. 1.5 hours from my house. I will be there for sure. This will hold me over until they tour here again “Live”. I guess it’s the same show as the DVD, which I have seen on my Big Screen HD/TV, but it will be even better on the Cinema Screen I’m sure.

    I’ll set you all know…..

    YEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I wish I had a time machine

Then I would not need a big screen……..

I ‘d go see Live In Japan 1972 right in front of me……………

and you would deafen really, cause you would be 7 years old and in 1972 DP was the ludest band in the world 😀

    Omg…

I prefer even the worst live from MKVIII than the best live from Blackmore’s Night.

I’d be curious to know if it is a 35mm projection, or simply the dvd on a big screen, which makes a HUGE difference.

    ciao Annemie! 🙂

It is long time I have been not here..the real thing is that in these time I am more and more involved into ThinLizzy discography…Do you all appreciate them?

    Annemie says:

    Hi Andrea,
I selom write a reply, but I was very glad to notice that you were present again in all last blogs! How could it be otherwise!I must confess that I do know to little about T.L. I love Gary Moore and I thought he was involved with them? I will do urgent homework this following days, to find out more of them.A recommandation of you counts! Cin cin…or alla tua salute xx

    To George
I agree ! Do you know that Blackmore’s Night also brings ‘Smoke on the Water’ live? Perhaps you can help me to aim a new ‘flairgun’ towards the stage…of course we would have to buy a ticket for their show… 🙂
I hope you can watch Montreux 2006!

It’s great to see DP on a big screen. It would be nice if they would get extra attention from this.
But seeing them live is the real thing.

    Hi AndreA,

I like TL a lot. The one WITH Phil Lynott I mean. PL was a great songwriter and performer. Have almost all his records (including the unofficial The Man And His Music cds with outtakes, demos, soundchecks and other projects).

    Andrea, what’s :

    ghghg 8-D ???

Is there a “ecret” ociety of Morse lovers who get free access to smiley’s I m not aware of?
Do have to pay for that?

I m not deaf, but a little poor on the side due to relentless spending my money on the Purps since 77.

I know people who got into music/DP/etc at a very age…..
I started indeed when I was 12, only 5 years after the peak they had…………
    Only 5 years……….
5 years today flash before my eyes and it’s gone………….
Geting old, really sucks, you have no idea, you don’t wanna know either………

    Suggestion :

Would you, if someone gave you the choice, pick the opportunity to actually witness the 3 nights of Live in japan 72 when you knew THAT is going to be the last thing/experience you’ll ever have?

Or maybe you ‘ll prefer to be struck deaf and blind but live after…………and enjoy the experience?

I suppose everyone here will not…. and instead choose the terminal orgasm once described by Ian Gillan when he spoke of the lyrics in “Knocking at your backdoor”?(That kinda spoilt the pleasure of that song for me, hearing it was all about anal sex.)

Well, finally proven I ve gone mad………

    Sami says:

PL really was unique and one of a kind!!
Check out also his post-Lizzy project Grand Slam…just bought the two cd’s, Studio Sessions & Twilights Last Gleaming(live) : great musicianship, good songs. It could have evolved into something really good but Phil’s addiction problems knocked it on the head.

There you go, off topic, but let’s hope the blog-police doesn’t mind 🙂

Cheers to each & everyone of you from Finland,

    Sami

    Sami says:

About the big screen-thing : I think the Purps need the visibility it brings in order to raise their profile as a de facto existing band. From what I have gathered, DP is constantly labelled as a nostalgia act or ‘just another’ classic rock-band in the States.

    Annemie says:

    To Sami,
Good thinking, an also valuable info from T.L.
    This deserves a 🙂

No, I’m not going to pay even 1$ for RB’s fseudo-folk.
RB just fucked Child In Time when he let Candice to sing it… Child In Time is ONLY for Gillan, ONLY Gillan could do such a earthshuttering screams…
And Candice just sings like a cat in March 😀
    damn it….

What about Montreux 2006, I don’t live in the USA, I live in Georgia (A country in Caucasus, in eastern Europe). but I’ve already seen Montreux 2006 on big screen. I watched this show in Tbilisi (Georgia’s capital) Cinema House. It was just outstanding, the whole Cinema House venue was sold-out. During Well Dressed Guitar me and the whole audience in venue stood up and were applausing like in the DVD.
    That was just great 🙂

Hi! Ciao Theo! Phil Lynott was a Maestro, full of soul,a great Rocker. I miss him,I’ll play all his LP until my end..anyway I’d like to see one day the songs that belong to LIVE LIFE where you know that all guitarist (in the history of TL) played concert all together on stage: five guitarist ! The last song Rocker with 5 simultaneos guitrs solo! there are no words to explain my feeling…so I’ d like to know if there is any video about this…

sorry DP fans,I know I am getting off from DP families..but we love ROCK so…

best wishes to you all people

And I ll be doing some swimming and sauna after…..kinda relaxing………….

Hey Priest….while you are out swimmin’ (not women, Swimmin’?)fantasize about this little “Last Wish” to see before you croak….

How about this “Pie in the Sky” Super Group. They are all dead of course, but WOW. Would that be something to see!!!!

    Tommy Bolin on Guitar
    Phil Lynott on Bass/Vocals
    Cozy Powell on Drums
    Ray Gillen on Vocals
    Billy Preston on Keys

If you are going to continue to complain about the present, and live or “Dwell” in the past…..then for god’s sake, kick it up a notch and go for something really great and which has never happened.

Back to the “Live at Montreux 2006” Movie……I fimd it hard to believe that anyone who appreciates Deep Purple at all wouldn’t find this peformance totally satisfying. They are on top form and with the exception of “Perfect Strangers” being removed from the list (due to technical sound problems), it covers a nice arrey of tunes. I’m very glad to see that it is making the ‘Big Screen” circuit. This can only mean positive vibes for this great band, which never get their due.

    Can’t wait to see it……..

Maybe if you are lucky “Priest”, you will live long enough to see it too. But as grumpy as you are these days…..they may be numbered.

    Cheers

    George Fotis says:

Yesterday i gave my Rapture Of The Deep & Bannanas cd to the second hand store to sell off. Why because they have the worst studio sound thanks to Michael Bradford! Some good tracks here & there but not enough, very commercial & predictable rock. Very few Steve Morse solos on Rapture also. Don’t plan on buying the next album, am pround to end my collecton with Abandon which is better. I’m really looking forward to the next Black Sabbath album with Dio, Tony is still into playing HEAVY ROCK , have a listen to the 3 new songs from last year, much better than stuff from Rapture.

talking about others stuffs I am taking the opportunity to ask if someone out there had ever seen a live album of rainbow during the finyl vinyl tour with an orchestra on the stage (I think it was recorded in japan) .I saw a tape once in melbourne back in 1990 rented it from a video shop .just imagine gates of babylon 16th century and beethoven stuff ,and ritchie conducting the orchestra. didn’t have the dvd and recorded things at this time to recorded it. was a very good concert .thanks people .cheers .long live DP.

    purplepriest1965 says:

I must admit playing the last “Snake” over and over……………
Not that it is any special though………..

    And I hate football too………
probably that’s the problem with me and DP : They all love football……….

I prefer the club circuit, the past, JS Bach, cats, gardening, the beach, WARMTH, coffee, wine, ………….

    I m off, I m blabbering again………..

    Maybe these times are numbered?
Well, for me they surely are…………

    Sami says:

What?!? Ray Gillen on vocals in the ‘Pie in the Sky’ Super Group…naaaahh, it’s gotta be Elvis!
    That’s kicking it up a notch 🙂

The past can’t be relived, but it ain’t a bad place to “dwell”…especially when the present hasn’t got that much to offer(there are exceptions of course)!!

However, I’m still waiting for something Special from the 40th Anniversary(a standard tour of Mk VIII is what we’re going to get, but is that all…!? solid but predictable, again!)

    Cheers

Why is preferring the present better than the so called(???)dwelling in the past?

    These remarks kinda annoy me…………

    Change is NOT always good……….

You can ofcourse deny the facts and embrace the present and keep on saying it’s so damn good…………..
    While it obviously is NOT.

    History will prove me right.

    Historybooks will say :
“Ritchie Blackmore, main person, composer and architect of Deep Purple, Steve Morse a hired hand to earn the pension of the rest………….

He had been given the opportunity cause loads of people appearantly don’t gave a *** who is in the band.”

    Sami says:

Here we go, off topic again, but so what :
what about the ‘rumour’ that Michael Schenker had been offered the guitar slot after Ritchie left, but politely refused…
don’t know if it was before Satriani or
    after his brief tenure!?
Despite Mr. Schenker’s occasional problems, he is a stunning guitarist and I really admire his work, be it with UFO or his MSG-albums(and he’s still recording & touring so he’s not dwelling too much in the past either)!!

Have a great weekend everybody, I’ve been working my ass off so now it’s time to take my young family to our summer cottage for a couple of days & just relax…and the sauna is hot for two/three days straight 🙂

  41. 41
    SEVEN-47 says:

Schenker? Just as unpredictable as Blackmore. I appreciate both talented artists, but Deep Purple required stability. Morse provides said stabilty. The only reason I even mentioned Malmsteen, is because I thought his covers of “Pictures Of Home”, “Mistreated”, “Demon’s Eye”, and “Child In Time” were pretty cool!

    HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND SAMI!

  42. 42
    Tracy Heyder says:

    Hey Sami:

Funny that you bring up UFO. I just saw them last night in Nashville, Tennessee, and the “Wildhorse Saloon”. Vinnie Moore is their present guitarist. Not Schenker by any means, but does a great job pushing out the tunes in his way. Mogg sounded great, but he has developed into that decrepid old man look, (pobably like PURPLEPRIEST1965). He looks a lot like an old “Bevis”, from “Bevis and Butt-head”. They played for 1.5 hours and palyed a couple from their present album along with the spread of others throughout their carreer. Very solid sound and nice venue. Same place we saw JLT with “Scrap Metal”.

“Big Fat Elvis”? Come on, I was trying to keep the “Dead Rockers” somewhere in the same vein. But what the hell,,,,,that would be something too I suppose. Either way, “IT AIN’T GONNA HAPPEN”. And that was the point to it.

Now, back to the present arguement that seems to ensue, no matter what subject we are on at the beginning. The constant comparison of each line-up by the same old fuddy duddies has become quite a cancer on this site. But I guess that is the characteristic of “Old Fat Rockers” whom just can’t seem to get off their couch and past “Their Era”. How about this? “The old era is over”. They are no longer. I guess you would rather they completely stopped making records for you to bitch about? If it wasn’t for those whom are the present, all you would have is your past. So to put it mildly……”Fire up your record player and play your favorite old classics 24/7″. Me? I play them “all” and enjoy the ever evolving sound Purple has given us. At least they continue to be creative and produce something, and thereby don’t only rely on the “Ho Hum” Classics.

Now, back to the “Blog Subject”.

Does this theatre presentation take the place of the real live deal? Of course not, but it is better than sitting and waiting for your past heroes to do something that you like. I’m glad they are bringing this show to the big screen. It shows that there is still an interest in Purple and it will probably be a good boost for their next tour. As with all entertainers. Any publicity is great publicity.

Good for them and I will drive 1.5 hours and pay for a ticket at the Movie House to support the CAUZ.

By the way, I’m 51 years old. I’m sure much older than the wining old fart Priest1965. Been a fan of Purple since ’68, when I heard “HUSH” on the radio when I was twelve. I’m not a latecomer like Priest1965, whom came on board I think he stated in 1977. Yet I am much more open to change than the single dimensional, unhappy “Blackmore” supporters whom look through a peep hole sized view, and don’t truly appreciate the contribution all the others have given to this monster band.

It doesn’t do one well sitting aroung on the sofa, sulking about your “Old, gone” members, when there is so much good PURPLE around to entertain you.

    ROCK ON PURPLE…..ROCK ON!!!!

May your next line-up (if need be) be as great as the rest. They have all been….”SUPURB”!!!!!!

    Cheers

  43. 43
    Sami says:

    Hi Tracy :

glad you enjoyed the UFO gig.Vinnie Moore is great, saw the dvd with him on guitar(& Jason Bonham on drums), and he really does a fantastic job. Mogg is quite odd looking these days, but what the heck, the man still has charisma & that distinctive Ufo-voice.

I did got your point about the past/present, but I’m not fat, I’m kinda slim and in reasonable/pretty good shape.I don’t dwell in the past, or get stuck to the sofa, I’m quite open minded as well. So…:)
I’m 37, a very latecomer DP-wise : Perfect Strangers was my introduction to this Great Great band. I have done my homework since, and been a dedicated follower/collector of Purple & all the offshoot bands(most of all Rainbow though). Sure I’m a fan of TMIB, and my favourite line-ups are with him on board, but I do like Mk IV with Bolin very much, and as I have stated before Purpendicular & ROTD(in parts) are great albums…it’s Morse’s style and sound that I don’t appreciate that much.

However, let’s all keep our petty differences under control, The Highway Star is a fantastic site & the conversation is mostly very rational/entertaining(educational even sometimes)…Have a good weekend Tracy , Priest, Seven-47, AndreA, Annemie & everybody else.

Cheers for now, catch you all next time.

I still have my hair and do a lot of sports, so cut the crap trying to make a point that you “move with the times”(Which was a great song on the Japanese GILLAN album, btw)
    .

    Whining sentimental man I may be………….that’s not to say I m wrong………….

You started earlier with DP cause of your age.
    . Well, Im jealous………..Really.
Missed out on the first part of the 70’s. Hell, I aswell only started going to shows in 1980, so that still hurts…………

I watched several DP shows with Morsey(So I tried)but am declining shows more and more……….

    To much aggrevation………..

    Waste of money…………

I rather spend that on recently found kinda (…)new acts like RIVERSIDE, Kamelot, Ane Brun, Lucette van den Berg.

Glenn Hughes (apart from the negative facts that his shows are becoming too loud in recent years and he still excells in overdoing his screams) I think he gives more PROGRESS than nowadays DP who are, not like you say, rely mainly on Blackmore written era songs…………..

Just to prove that I have an open mind for things with quality after the period you think I chose to stuck in………….

So cut that pretentious “I m evolved and you are not” crap, please…………..

But, then again, we are all swimming in this ridicilous virtual fishbowl writing something……….

    Does it really matter?

    No………..

I admit, would I have something better to do than quarrel with you people I d love to do that…………..

    Cheers.

    George says:

    Ohh NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

site admin, please just remove some useless users from this site…
If ANYONE thinks that todays Glenn Hughes makes more progress in music than current DP, it (not she or he really 😀 ) can be only deaf…

You, purplepriest, have you ever listened to Bananas and have you ever thought that it’s the masterpiece of modern music??? have you ever realised that DP isn’t old classic nostalgia band, but DP were cutting edge with their album Bananas…
If you listen to the modern bands (launching after 2000) you can easily recognise that DP is more progressive, more vital fresh and modern, than ANY 2000’s band.

DP was modern and avangarde in 1970’s, DP was modern and GREATEST in 1980’s, DP was really hard-rocking in 1990’s, and in 2003, with Bananas, DP proved again TO BE MODERN (after 35 years).

“So if you don’t like what you see, if you can do better of me, you better walk on”…

    bye

    Tracy Heyder says:

    Priest…….

Look, I was just making a point regarding your continual “Blackmore” is God point. And I was only playing off of your own terms of how old you are. I don’t care if you are 105 and you gave birth to Ritchie Blackmore. HE IS NOT IN DEEP PURPLE ANYMORE. It’s that simple. Neither is Glenn Hughes. And for the sake of the present members, he never will be. They diserve to be happy. AND THEY ARE! Without Ritchie and with or without you as a fan. They don’t need the bullshit.

So maybe you should write in the Blogs of your new favorite bands….”RIVERSIDE, Kamelot, Ane Brun, Lucette van den Berg”, and cry to them that they also suck, because “Ritchie Blackmore” isn’t playing in their band.

See the point now? It’s not personal…..it’s just that you have become rediculously repetative with your same old complaint.

Sorry again, but “RITCHIE IS IN TIGHTS”. Join is “Merry Little Men” and become their “Court Jester”.

Sorry if you took it literal with my description of you earlier, but it was only a sarcastice response to the picture you painted for us to go by, and I just happen to be a very sarcastic person, who loves to play the game, but kick it up a notch.

“LONG LIVE DEEP PURPLE MK-8” MK-2 is gone, never to return, but if by chance they do….I’ll be there just the same. It’s all Purple.

    Cheers Men…….you too Priest.

    AndreA says:

ThanX to Sami (I think that week end is always too short…) and to Annemie..

at the end I think that Steve Morse Has to stay into the band,he is good..i is also true that when RB departed ,DP lost an old british sound..now they are too commercial in some new tracks..

ciao I go for the job

  53. 53
    SEVEN-47 says:

Like Tracy Heyder I enjoy all Deep Purple, but Blackmore is poison to the band. I’d rather see a Deep Purple MK-9 than a return of MK-2, and all of the drama and conflict that would ensue. I do wish Blackmore would assemble Rainbow again however!

  54. 54
    David Sanderson says:

George, do you mean the Milton Keynes show? It was anything but amazing, DP are unpredictable live, that day they were average, I would watch it again if it ever was relesed on DVD just to have an objective look, the only footage I have seen is on you tube and the quality is not great but my memory of the 2007 tour is far better than that show.

  55. 55
    AndreA says:

    About RB
I find very sad to know that he plays DPsongs on RB’s Night….I can understand him when he plays Rainbow epic pieces, but to immagine that candice Chupa Chupa singing Child In Time and other DP pieces is pure blasphemy…about me RB is a lost man in his project (I bought only the first of RBìsNight…no more). The top on stage for me was along The Battle Rages On Tour with Satriani (the concert was fabolous and it was very amazing to see Ian Paice Roger Glover and Jon Lord chasing Joe Satriani in “Satch Boogie”…great musicians!!!!)

me too,I love beer (stout beer…black: it is good to me and better because it give less p***ing than others) and I love rolling cigarettes (I prefer free tobacco than classic stinkely cigarettes..and sometime I like to enrich it…uhuh uhuuuhhhfffffffffff°°oooOOOOO)))))

    Annemie: where’re you from?

  57. 57
    George says:

SEVEN-47: Sure, Blackmore is poison for DP and “We don’t want to taste their poison” anymore 🙂

David Sanderson: Yeas, I mean that show. Not only the band was in top-form, but the stage visual efects and audience were great.

    SITE ADMIN!!!

What Purplepriest and some visitors make, it is OFF TOPIC. They always go off topic and we all are really bored reading “RB VS SM” posts in the (e.g) “Whitesnakes New Album” topic.

Can you ban all users who go off topic? (e.g ban for 2 days). I really want it,

Now if I went off topic (cause the topic is about Montreux Live), Ban me 😀

    David Sanderson says:

George, lucky I managed to log on while avoiding work (our secret)….well, it’s friday, The MK show was ok but I remember Alice Cooper and Thunder playing storming sets that day! Journey were ok but I was eating some over priced food and listening from the side for most of the set, they seemed to have a few sound problems, if I recall Roadstar played a decent opener, Ted Nugent was…well TED and Queensryche were dogged by technical problems, the sound quality at MK was good but the band looked tired, IG looked like he might have had a few shandies beforehand, the set was abridged and they followed Alice who had just played one of the best supporting sets I have ever seen, in contrast at Sheffield a year later THEY WERE FANTASTIC, if the MK show is released I will have to have another look, maybe I was just tired from standing about in that heat all day! The Knebworth show still sticks in my mind as the best concert I have ever seen.

    David Sanderson says:

Sorry I went off topic there, see you in 2 days maybe! Oh yes, Montreux 2006 I’ve seen and heard it many times on my own TV/DVD player/PC, but our local rock club has a big screen and they sometimes play it, well worth watching!!

    Hi there!
It’s not exactly swimming in the fishbowl, it is the discovery of a great exchange of thoughts, giving a voice to our hardrocksoul and the discovering there are more passionate warm feeling DP-lovers!We are two mates of a group, and the youngest amongst us are ‘babies’ about 17, and the oldest about 48!It proves that it’s true what Tracy said some blogs ago, DP is for all times…good music is from all times. We also like Doors, Clapton,LoZtCauZ,Animals,Sabbath, but Nothing can reach DP .Not in past or present or future! We could not write it better then George in his earlier blog! We did have a terrible laugh immagining Ritchie as Court jester…As long as the court obbeys him well, well we he will not become the poison for DP again, Seven-47 is right about that fact!We want to express how nice it is to read you all, Sami, David, AndreA ,Priest…Lots af music, humor and love!
P.S. Priest…you reminded us to a song from Eric Burdon: ‘When I was young’ (in fact it is a true very nice one!)Yet, how can the present not be good, with us all around you, sharing the quarrels, music and laughs…Proost!

    George Fotis says:

I’ve seen that Montreux concert on pay tv , it really didn’t interest me , the band play much better & harder in the 98 House Of Blues concert. Yes i can understand where Purple Priest is coming from , Blackmore was a super guitarist, always find myself listening to Rainbow material & Mark 3 the Final Concerts . Perfect Strangers & House Of Blue Light is to me what Deep Purple are , but the last 2 abums are not.
The name Deep Purple means heavy, loud, agressive , that’s what you would expect, but there just like Pearl Jam now, no Jon Lord to now ( he played a heavy sounding organ) but in concert they do sound much better than they do on the last 2 albums.
Yes i like those Rainbow Final’s concert’s as somebody mentioned they sounded great, am sure it will get a dvd release.

    SEVEN-47 says:

    Dear George Fotis;

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who really enjoyed “House Of Blue Light”. Nice to hear from you!

  65. 65
    Tracy Heyder says:

There you have it……in a nutshell.

Mike&Clarlotte totally get it. It’s all great!!!! The back and forth humorous jargin and even the strong repeat oppionions. That is because this band drives the heart and soul into anyone whom has given them a listen, and therefor, different oppinions develope.

For those who take it too serious…..lighten up. The Battle Rages On between Me and Priest, but not in a bad way, unless he takes it serious. I’m sure he doesn’t too much. But the only consistant problem is the overbearing repeat of the complaint about Ritchie being gone. You all have to admit. It gets a little monotenous, over and over again. But even though, we always add something new to the discussion, with a comedy flare. As soon as someone really is pissed off, please say the word and you will be catered to and we won’t bother you anymore.

I’m counting down the days till “Montreux” on the big screen. Can’t wait. Better than no Purple at all. And fills the void waiting for them to tour live again.

    cheers all.

me too..I like,I enjoy THE HOUSE OF BLUE LIGHT,I re-discovered it 5 years ago..before I let it always in the dust. I like the sound, and my favourite songs (1-5) are Bad Attitude(4),The Unwritten Law (4),Mad Dog (5! pure RnR!),Starangeways (5). of course it is not comparable to perfect Strangers:absolutely the best after the reunion in 1984.

I’m sure you’ll post the news in April 29th about this.
So, I think it’s a really grandious project, as world’s 2 mega-band’s one of the best shows are shown in USA’s almost all state’s great cinema venues.
How the ticket sales are? is the media involved in this prject…

please, post everything about this after 28’th April

So, I’ll give you a hint:
    2008, December, London O2 arena, 3 shows, DP with….with….

    With Ritchie Blackmore?
    his manager say NO!

“Il sito Rainbow Fanclan aveva riportato qualche giorno fa la notizia che la line-up originale dei Deep Purple, con Ritchie Blackmore alla chitarra, si sarebbe riunita per tre shows all’O2 Arena di Londra.
L’annuncio ha cominciato freneticamente a girare per le varie agenzie, finchè Carole Stevens, portavoce ufficiale del chitarrista, ha dichiarato: “non sta accadendo, e non accadrà”.

    What a pity…

RADIO LONDON CLAIMS RITCHIE WILL DO 3 REUNION SHOWS WITH DEEP PURPLE

Just gossip at the moment but… Last night Radio London claimed that the “original” Deep Purple line-up will reunite later this year for three shows at London’s O2 Arena. This was apparently reported on Danny Baker’s show and said that it would include Ritchie Blackmore!

Although the report said the original line-up it more than likely means the classic MKII but beyond what is written here we truly don’t know anymore as of yet.

It might be more interesting than “thoughtpolice”…

    In the meantiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimeeeeeeee :

Can I go to sleep again now?

“Old before his time man, not in thights but reconsidering.”

After all, wasn’t it the under- appraised Ian Anderson and band who did that ages ago, long before it got ridiculised in certain places by people having a lack of argument?

Btw, I can’t stress enough RB is NOT GOD.

    That’s me……….

    No, mistake……….

    I m his son………

And when I m not walking the water I do walk the clouds.

Just got carried away 1 or 2 days ago by that movie with Kenau Reeves.
It made me cry which must mean I m not dead yet.(…)

    Nighty Night Priest…….

Don’t forget to put on some “Blackmore’s Night”. That sould put you out real quick..he he.

When you wake up from your “AARP Senior’s Rest”, put on the 2006 Deep Purple “Live at Montreux DVD”. That will charge you right back up again. Better yet, GO TO THE MOVIE HOUSE in your neighborhood and see it on the BIG SCREEN!!!!!

Hey, ever think about changing your name to:
“blackmorepriestOvertheHill”? if not, you probably should……would be a little more appropriate, don’t you think?

    Cheers Priest

    I can’t take you serious anymore………

    SEVEN-47 says:

Sorry George; I’m suspending my two day ban, Tracy Heyder; My girlfriend and ex-wife numerous times go to sleep to Blackmore’s Night. That’s what it’s good for, relaxing, and good love making! On the other hand The current DEEP PURPLE is good for evolved ROCK & ROLL!

  80. 80
    Tracy Heyder says:

Ouch……Girls Name huh? Well I do like to have fun, especially at the expense of single dimentional victims. It’s a little too easy though, and not as much fun when your “Song Remains the Same”.

So Priest…..flip the record, and don’t take me too serious. I’m just having fun with you. It is all there is left once you enter your S.O.S. on a Blog….”Ritchie Who”?

As far as taking me serious….I didn’t expect to be taken serious, except of course when I am serious…..but then you never know, unless you take you head out of Blackmores Arss…..

SEVEN-47…..My point axactly, but I doubt if Priest is using Blackmore’s Night for making love…..well maybe to “righty” or “lefty” while dreaming about a Blackmore/Purple Reunion……he he!!!!!

Don’t forget to wash your hands Priest….

    Cheers

    Tracy and George,
Just a slight problem…how to get Priest’s head out of Blackmore’s arsch while waiting for the ricochet? And worse, there is a true lack of respect for his Blackness’ tights! 🙁

    AndreA says:

    Brava Annemie,

    Oh dear…
Have you all lost your senses? What about the owed respect and dignity regarding priests? Especially when they are old,w… and sleepy. We’ll try to make it up.
What about a pilgrimage for him – provided with cheap white wine and pizza’s- towards Blackmore’s castle for a holiday period? We will kindly inquire Carole Stevens.
By the way… Wasn’t it you Priest who once thought Charris was a man’s name? Well… priests and ladies… 🙂

    stoffer,

OMG, why is Deep Purple so ignored in the USA?
    I don’t really understand… 🙁

  89. 89
    stoffer says:

George, I think they are ignored so because they refused to kiss the *** of the establishment at times a while back. I mean not to have at least Machine Head listed in the Rolling Stone top 500 LP’s of all time is a joke. We are so used to it that we have become almost numb, but ocasionally there are silver linings in the clouds, this week the radio station I listen to played Child In Time, Space Truckin’, Perfect Strangers and Any Fule Kno That. Small consolation but better than nothing. Cheers!

    stoffer says:

Just got home from the BIG SCREEN showing, and it was truly “larger than life”. The picture was so clear and the sound was LOUD. To my sheer disbelief there were only 3 people in the theatre, DP was first, only stayed for 2 songs from Queen and went home. The 3 of us were just amazed at Steve he was awesome.

  97. 97
    Tracy Heyder says:

Stoffer:……Believe it or not, me and my wife were “The Only Ones” in the theater. I spoke to the guy running the film and he advised the fact that because it was on “Monday”, there was “No Turnout”. Apparently, the folks in this small town that I went to, only go out to the movies on the weedends. He told me that earlier in the month, they showed a U2 Concert on the weekend and they filled the room. Just another example of “Poor Promtion and Poor Scheduling”.

We stayed for the whole Queen show. Just because we had already driven 1.5 hours to get there. It was very entertaining and I did actually like the show. Freddy was quite the “Flamboyant Showman”. The rest of the band totally kick ass. Great drumming and guitarwork. So, at least I got to see something I hadn’t seen along with Purple as Huge as it gets……

The Upside was that we had GREAT SEATS!!!!! We actually moved around, trying them all. No seat left unturned.

The downside was that we have the DVD and wish it was a show we hadn’t seen. But, at least we showed up, and it was great on the BIG SCREEN.

The concert was as in the DVD. ALL GOOD!! I was hoping for the left out “Perfect Strangers”. It didn’t show. But either way, the sound was “Theatrical and so was the Visual”. IN YOUR FACE!!!!!

Not a bad way to fill the time, waiting for the next “Live Tour”. No complaints here. Just had another great “Deep Purple Moment”.

    Cheers to all…….you too “priest”…..

  98. 98
    Mike and Charlotte says:

    Hi Tracy!
What an idea indeed to plan this on a Monday!
We took at once our perihelion DVD- we read you’re standing in the audience in another blog- to check you out…and yes ! We found you with the banner!Wow!
In any case, well done, you prooved to be a super DP fan , Mondays included ! Ad Fundum!!!

    Mike and Charlotte says:

stoffer, that compliment goes for you too of course!

    Frank says:

I unfortunately wasn’t able to make the showing. Any chance that it will be shown again on a future date?

  101. 101
    stoffer says:

Thanks Mike and Charlotte, the theatre manager told us the same thing Tracy heard that Monday is by far his slowest night (makes sense)and that is probably why there was no turnout. I thought Freddy Mercury was quite the showman with what little I saw, but it was late, I’m old and I needed my sleep. G’night all DP fans.

  102. 102
    Tracy Heyder says:

Frank: I doubt it. But you can purchase the DVD and find a Big Screen TV and see it that way. If you don’t have the DVD. I recommend it.

    Cheers
