Whitesnake anniversary releases
In a recent interview to the Billboard magazine David Coverdale unveiled plans for retrospective anniversary releases:
Also upcoming for Coverdale will be a remastered three-disc set to mark Whitesnake’s 30th anniversary, which he says will “embrace the beginning right up until now — including some Coverdale/Page and solo Coverdale material.” A live Whitesnake DVD is in the works as well.

I hope the 3-CD set will feature some unreleased material exspecially from the first 6 years (Marsden Moody Murray), which I love most.
Also the Live-DVD could present some early live footage (e. g. the 1980 Largo Video in full).
I’m looking foreward to the new Whitesnake DVD. I know it could NOT be “Too Bad To Be Good”.
March 9th, 2008 at 08:21I, too, do not want to purchase a 3 CD set or DVD with anything (or much) that contains any significant amount of material from Whitesnake (1987) on up. We Whitesnake fans are left high and dry when it comes to the Marsden-Moody-Lord-Paice-Murray years.I, personally, need much more of that. Heck, even the complete (without the interview interruptions) concert from ’84 with Powell and Sykes will be welcomed. Record company: Are you listening?? Give the fans what they want and not some crap worth a fast buck to you or you’ll be reading lots of BAD reviews on Amazon.
March 10th, 2008 at 17:05I agree with Jeff, but am also aware that “1987” and stuff of a kind is what SELLS. So, “what fans want” is a very relative question. Keep in mind that “1987” initially sold 10 millions, more than all the other Whietesnake releases put together, plus they had a fancy line up with Steve Vai back then, so… That’s how label people think, and you can’t honestly blame them for that – you can disagree at most, as I do ;o)
March 13th, 2008 at 12:01Another bullshit box set… It is almost certain that it will only contain only 1/2 of a disc of the classic line up. I will spend my $ on some old Tommy Bolin goodies or the new Don Airey disc. Another cash crop for Coverdale???
March 14th, 2008 at 00:46Yes I want that box, BUT only if the real Whitesnake is in front. And we all (except for Coverdale) knows that the real Whitesnake is the before “big hair” days. Today WS is “Barbi Girl” in R&R – NO soul at all – I’m sad to say, because I love Coverdale when he is singing and to screaming like a mad dog.
And that leads me to “Bring Deep Purple MrkIII back”.

Do members of DP have taste at all? Or was it just luck that drove them in certain moments to good choices?
Maybe being in the bubble and being brainwashed by wrong people made them geniusses without a clue?

Why are Hughes and Coverdale BOTH trying to sing so high your ears burst?
Still trying to be Robert Plant or surpassing Child In Time?
Don.t they know their strenght is in avoiding that?

April 10th, 2008 at 20:33I´ve been listening to the new WS album “Good To Be Bad”, for the last couple of weeks now, and it´s in my opinion great!!
At first I was very sceptic, beacuse of my phobia for American,all flash & guitar masturbation mannerisms (remember Vai!!)
After a couple of listens it hit me like a bull on speed….Yeah,this rocks I like it!!
Of course it doesn´t sound like it did in the eighties…and why should it?? As much as I loved, and still do those early albums,we have to realise that WS is an entirely diffirent machine today!! At least the new album doesn´t kiss ass to the American market!
As for the box…I´ll sure buy it!! I just hope there are some hidden treasures,unreleased songs,covers or maybe songs rarely played live from the “good old days”!! I would kill for a soulful live version of “Blindman” !!!!!
April 12th, 2008 at 01:52I prefer the early bluesy Whitesnake. I have all the Whitesnake albums from the Snakebite EP to the UK version of Slide It In which are a thousand times better than the Hollywood Whitesnake, Forget Adrian Vandenberg and Steve Vai !. Micky Moody, Bernie Marsden and Mel Galley are the best.
