Pardon my ignorance here – Is “Soldier of Fortune” done as an instrumental? I just cannot envision Candace’s elven voice tackling Coverdale’s macho sentiments ably….
September 26th, 2007 at 03:40Have alway’s wised for Ritchie to get back with some of his former Rainbow mates Joe Lynn Turner or Graham Bonnet , Bobby Rondinelli , Dio , etc and make the music he used to . Stranger In Us All is a great cd , would have been happy if he had continued with that, but just can’t get into Blackmore’s night am no fan .
September 26th, 2007 at 05:28Hi Jim –
Blackmore’s Night have already released a version of Soldier OF Fortune on their previous live-CD. And yes, Candice does sing it, at least the first verse if memory serves right here. And yes, it sounds a bit strange…of course it is a Coverdale signature tune and doesn`t fit to Candice’s voice, attitude and, ahem, gender at all as far as I am concerned.
Regards

I’m really looking forward to this Live set, I believe Blackmore’s Night has more energy and cohesion as a LIVE band, Blackmore has always been a live artist.
I only wish they would release a cd with the full set list, cause I don’t think I’ll be sitting watching the show on T.V. more than once.
Anyway, always a pleasure to hear Ritchie performing live, I don’t see why it should be different this time, especially with this nice collection of songs.
September 26th, 2007 at 07:05very well..
September 26th, 2007 at 10:59No Jim…unfortunately Candice does sing on “Soldier of Fortune” IMHO Ritchie should leave the Purple stuff alone with Blackmores Night. Candice is a beautiful girl with a lovely melancholy voice which makes the purple stuff sound insipid…most fans of BN just put up with it because Ritchie is playing them!!
September 26th, 2007 at 11:26Great!
September 26th, 2007 at 11:57Yes, Candice does sing the vocals on Soldier of Fortune – but they don’t do all the verses. It’s not a long version (on the other DVD anyway!)
September 26th, 2007 at 12:01Fine! Let’s listen to Blackmore. And Candice, that has a beautiful voice. Why not?
September 26th, 2007 at 12:16Je pense qu’il s’agit du concert enregistré en septembre 2006 à l’olympia de Paris. j’y étais ….. fabuleux !
September 26th, 2007 at 14:47I was last yeaur for the first venue of blackmor’es night at oympia Paris. It was absollutly marvellous !
Like or not, but you know that you will always have first class performance with him. His playing (Strat or not) is ALWAYS superior.
September 26th, 2007 at 15:35My only problem:
WHY NOT DO 50% BN and 50% Rainbow/Purple stuff. Then we will see HUGE amount of fans at the concerts.
What is the problem since you are not doing it? It cant be that bad for you to play some of those tunes again. Or maybe it’s?
I was at this show in Paris. Ritchie’s performance was really brilliant. I will buy the DVD for sure and I’d recommend it to anyone. I’m just surprised to see that the whole setlist does not appear on the DVD.
September 26th, 2007 at 19:52HEY JIM, CANDICE DOES THE VOCALS AND IT DOES MISS A LITTLE SOMETHING. THAT IS ONLY BECAUSE IT WAS PERFECTLY SUITED FOR COVERDALE AND A FEMALE VOICE JUST CAN’T MATCH IT. IT WORKS WELL THOUGH AS DOES ALL THE LIVE STUFF. [CHECK OUT CASTLES AND DREAMS]
September 27th, 2007 at 15:12HEY BO, THAT IS NOT HIS THING ANYMORE. IT IS THIS WAY BY DESIGN. HE DOES CASTLES AND SMALL THEATERS. HE SAID HE HAS NO INTEREST IN LARGE VENUES EVER AGAIN. I’M GOING TO CHARLOTTE TO SEE HIM IN A CONVERTED CHURCH NEXT MONTH. I DO WISH HE WOULD DO TEMPLE OF THE KING. THAT SETS UP EALLY WELL FOR WHAT HE IS DOING NOW.
September 27th, 2007 at 15:17He only does castles, small theaters, fetes, garden parties, cricus side shows, dog shows, and birthday parties.
October 3rd, 2007 at 12:44Well, it’s better than being a rasta man, isn’t it!?
October 3rd, 2007 at 13:19Punch and Judy shows, christenings, garage sales, barbecues, funerals, and Bar Mitzvah’s.
Something for all those special occasions.
