Adelaide Symphony Orchestra to play Deep Purple
Adelaide Symphony Orchestra has penciled in for the upcoming season two concerts with Deep Purple music:
- Friday March 28, 2008
- Saturday March 29, 2008
Both concerts will be performed at the Festival Theatre in Adelaide, Australia.
ASO will perform together with rock vocalist Vince Contarino (Zep Boys) and other Aussie rock musicians. The program appears to consist of Purple staples arranged for the orchestra. Tickets go on sale on December 1.
Thanks to Peter Weckerle for the info.

September 5th, 2007 at 16:15i hope this comes out on a cd or dvd!!!
keep rocking..
Why dont we have concerts like that here in Denmark? I would love to be there in Australia.
September 5th, 2007 at 20:20Rockin’ to the Classics!
September 5th, 2007 at 22:13Hopefully they can have some more dates & play in Melbourne without the orchestra . Seeing as they have come all the way here , would be great to see them once again!
September 8th, 2007 at 10:40Vince Contarino is an AWESOME singer who sings in a band that does Led Zep cover versions in Adelaide (Australia). He is MUCH better than Robert Plant who is CRAP and always has been!
I am thinking of going to Adelaide from Melbourne just to see it!!!
September 8th, 2007 at 15:02what about inviting sophie serafino to play?
September 11th, 2007 at 19:55Woot.
This in some small sense makes up a tad for my massive dissapointment regarding Iron Maiden deciding to bypass Adelaide next year. 🙁
In march over the past three years the ASO has done Led Zep (2005, 2007)and Pink Floyd (2006) concerts, I’ve always meant to go to them, but never actually got around to it. They’ve been well received from what I’ve heard. I better try to make sure that I do not forget about this.
September 12th, 2007 at 08:24What about releasing a updated “In Rock” kinda album instead of softer and softer albums.
I m tired of orchestra’s.
Bring back Heavy Rock……
And Blackers……..
Long live rock and roll!!!!!!!!
September 12th, 2007 at 23:37I totally agree with you & Steve Morse can definatley play hard guitar in concert why not on cd. Maybe the new producer has somethigto do with it , they would be better off with Roger at the desk. What’s wrong with the Battle Rages On & House Of Blue Light studio sound nothing.
September 14th, 2007 at 17:25The more modern & safe they try to become the more softer they sound . I really like the 3 new Black Sabbath song’s with Dio something like that would be super .
And it can be done!
It’s not because of age they have to record soft music.
Listen to Gillan’s Inn or, indeed, the latest efforts of RJ Dio on his lates solo effort or with the Sabs…….
October 6th, 2007 at 20:26It’s just………….they have the wrong guitarplayer for that.
ABANDON was more heavy but lacked the FINESSE in COMPOSITION we got with RB.
The March 27 show in Adel. with Jon Lord was awsome. The ASO was fantastic and the vocals by Vince awsome. The drummer went off brilliantly and a most special mention to the incredible guitar work by Steve Williams who needs to be turned up louder because he rocks.
