Glenn Hughes: new album will be “the Funkiest, Rock N’ Soul”
Glenn Hughes in a message to the fans left on his Myspace page, mentions his new album:
To all of you in Bulgaria, France, Spain, Norway, Italia, Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Greece, I look 4ward to Funkin’ it up with you as well.
It’s been an amazin’ year, full of new adventures. It has given me the “juice” to write, what I consider a turning point album……these songs have been a real blessing to write, you could call it a roots record……don’t wanna keep you guessin’, but I can say that this will be the Funkiest, Rock N’ Soul album so far…..
Glenn’s touring schedule has been revamped: September 6 show in Pristina has been canceled due to instability in Kosovo. September 7 show in Sofia, Bulgaria has been postponed, tentatively to the 28th. On September 7 he will perform instead in another Bulgarian city, Kavarna, where mayor is a good friend of Glenn. This show will consist of Deep Purple Mk3/Mk4 classics. Another three shows have been scheduled in Greece in November, with Athens yet to be confirmed.

August 22nd, 2007 at 11:09The problem with Glenn Hughes if there is one, is the fact that he is a little bit too productive for his own good! Don´t get me wrong,I love the man and his music! In my mind he should make us long for a new album, instead of taking our breath away in an attempt to keeping up with the man!That said I can hardly wait for the new album if it is as promised…..FUNKY..full Of SOUL…RÓCKIN´…& NASTY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course Glenn’s been very lucky with his voice…but for a man in his 50’s his tonsils & performances are nothing but stunning every time!!

Which does not mean, see my other posts, I do not like his output. On the contrary……….But I must admit to have enjoyed his shows in the 90’s better then recently…….

Too loud the volume……
I do not like him showing over the top
his ability to sing high…….
And I hope , talking about PR, he forgets the RHC men this time and gets back together with JJ……
And do not forget a Deep Purple like keyboard approach!!!!!!!

Maybe this is idle fantasy but I don’t see why he could n’t rejoin DP, at least for a few shows.
August 27th, 2007 at 22:28At some point in the set Ian Gillan could take a break while Hughes takes over lead vocal and does some songs from Mk 3 and 4 days.
I’d love to hear IG and GH do “Smoke On The Water” and “Highway Star” together, for me it’s never quite complete hearing these songs without Hughes’s soul inflections (and “big fat tits” lyric for HS).

August 30th, 2007 at 08:38That’ll be a dream come true to us Mk3 fans, Mitzee Dupree…sort of like the Heaven & Hell-project with Dio, Iommi etc…although Hughes & Mr. Lord could be up to it, we know that Cov and RB would never do it.It’s a shame really, Whitesnake being a boring americanized ‘oldies but goodies band’, and Ritchie lost forever(it seems)to a castle of dreams.Not fair, is it not…
