Wow,
some longer parts of this fine show shown in Swiss and Japanese TV – and this show is fantastic. Much better than the China-Show (Beijing). Indeed better than the Montreux 1996 show, which is still fantastic.
Some guest on the 2006 show are “funky” Claude Nobs on harmonica (duelling with Gillan) and Michael Bradford on guitar, who is duelling with Steve Morse on “Hush” and “Black Night”. You will also have a JAZZ-intro to “Smoke On The Water”. I hope it will be the full show!
I saw an excerpt of Montreux 1971 (b/w), wehre they played the “Yoddle” part of “Speed King”. which was filmed at least with two cameras. If this show exists or partly exists this would be a very fine bonus material.
Come on Claude, search in your collection, please.

January 14th, 2007 at 07:29Great, but still I want more from Mrk 1, 2 and 3 line up. These days (and for to MANY years) you know what you get. The same songs, the way they are played. The magic has gone LONG time ago. Still DP are better than 99,9% of the rest, but still not as before. And they could be again – DON’T play safe!
Lots of regards

C’mon people, let’s get serious! DP used to be a band that produced splendid rock music, recorded on the albums. And that was it. Now they release a DVD from almost every show they play! And stupid fans and followers buy them all and throw their money through the window. I doubt the members of the band are that poor they desperately need money from sells of DVD’s, CD’s, etc. I’m only waiting for the time when we’ll get a DVD of DP live in Tirana – Albania!!!!! They are just making fools out of ourselves. Two examples:
First we got “Rapture of the deep”. Great album. I love Wrong man. But then we also got a Tour edition of the same album – with some “special bonus”. We got 4 CD box from Blackmore era – 1993. No, but that’s not enough! So we need two separate CD’s editions of same two concerts! Do we really? NOT!!! Kapitalism – f*** **f!!!
Don’t get me wrong. I’ve seen DP live some 40 times. DP is my life!!! Blackmore is my god and – I was in Montreux in 2006!!! So fortunately I don’t need to buy the new DVD! I need money to help my mother who is in a wheelchair and to feed my two children.
Cheers from Ljubljana, SLOVENIA

January 14th, 2007 at 10:55I have a bootleg of the 04′ show @ Montreux on dvd … needless to say it kicks ass !! Can’t wait for the 06′ show .
January 15th, 2007 at 16:22The Montreux 2006 show was my first Purple concert, despite being 42 years and a fan since my teen years. Its funny, though I’ve always loved DP, I seem to have become closer to all of its music, old and new, in the last few years, especially since having first heard the Rapture disc.
Maybe my excitement and naivete overwhelmed me in Montreux, but I just thought the show was wonderful. Sure, today’s DP doesn’t have the raw energy of the past. However, I left the show thinking that I just saw some of the best musicians in the world, which, in and of itself, was enough for me.
I may buy the DVD, if only to remind me of how much fun my Wife and I had. So what if DP is in the midst of a marketing blitz? They are real musicians who are entertaining audiences of all ages. If they are that good that they can sell their music in whatever package they can, good for them–they deserve it.
Thanks to The Highway Star for all of its work.
January 16th, 2007 at 17:27bring ritchie back to purple people eaters. he is god like musician to all peoples in the world. gillian can not longer sing live. need to replace with glenn hughes or paul rodgers. also can bring in neil pert and rick wakeman and billy shenhan
January 17th, 2007 at 11:32To all Deep Purple fans and followers!!!! The Gillan’s Inn Tour Edition is just about to come out!! You MUST have it! If you’ve already bought the regular Gillan’s Inn dual disc – never mind! Just throw it away and buy the Tour Edition! ‘Cos’ we need your money!
In fall ’07 Ian Gillan Band will tour Iraq (From where I stand I see the mushrooms in the sky…). What? If some of the shows will be recorded for a possilble DVD? OF COURSE!!! Not only one, all of them will be recorded. And it will come out as “Special 34 DVD Collection – Iraq Farewell Tour 2007”. Prize? Piece of cake – just 640 pounds each. Hurry up, because it’s first come first served basis! And we don’t wanna tell you right now that after just a couple of weeks all 34 DVD’s will come out separately – with some special bonus noises recorded in Ian’s basement (mice, rats singing SOTW and “Highway Star”). And shortly after that all of 34 DVD’s will come out again – this time as remastered DVD’s (no bonus this time – ‘cos in the meantime Ian managed to get rid of all the mice and rats…). So people, there’s plenty of money to be spent!!
Oh Almighty God, why did you leave us alone…
January 17th, 2007 at 11:47hi white fender why don’t you go and see the mandolin man and leave us alone with ian and the rest of the band .probably he doesn’t think business when he play mandolin (with all the respect _past_ i have for ritchie).don’t buy anything else and let people do whatever they want with their money.cheers.
