Rainbow photo book out in Japan

A new Rainbow photo book is coming out in Japan. It is quite a hefty volume at 288 pages and promises a wealth of pictures from the band’s Japanese tours from 1976 to 1984, many of them previously unpublished. The June 2016 issue of “Player” in Japan carried a 16 page article on Deep Purple consisting of Ian Gillan’s interview, Steve Morse’s interview, inFinite album review, and the live & studio gear review of Steve and Roger’s equipment. The irony of a fleeting nature of an iceberg

Alright, hold tight

A Japanese documentary on the Highway Star has been posted to Youtube. And in 43+ minutes it covers a big chunk of Mark 2 history besides the song itself. Ian Paice, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, and Chris Charlesworth (of Illustrated Biography fame) were inteviewed, with some stock footage of Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore as well. While the narration is in Japanese, the extensive interviews are not overdubbed, which makes it easier to piece together the story with some background knowledge about the band. (watch inside)

Pictures from Shizuoka

Kei Ono took some excellent pictures at the Whitesnake gig in Shizuoka on October 10. There is more where it came from. Check out Kei’s Flikr gallery. Fun fact: the night before, on October 9, Whitesnake headlined the second day of Loud Park 16, a two day festival in Saitama. An ex-snakeman Doug Aldrich played […]
