Seriously? Northern Cyprus is under occupation by the Turkish army. This is not a cool place for a gig. Hope people boycott as this places the band in a bad light and breaks UN sanctions.
March 24th, 2014 at 19:15DP playing in the Occupied Area of Cyprus…!!! Have some respect for the human rights of 200,000 people ethnically cleansed from their homes up there please DP and call of this concert that will be used to support an Occupation Regime.
April 8th, 2014 at 16:30D.P. turn as “puppets” for the turkish propaganda…..
April 23rd, 2014 at 13:49Rihanna,jenifer lopez and many others refuse to play there….
I know Purple just love playing to the people all over the world and I’m sure politics doesn’t even come into the equation when tours are set up for them. The boys just want to play to everyone & that’s brilliant. Music should have no boundaries …….but having been to Cyprus in 2012 (and we went to Famagusta & Nicosia and heard differing versions of the invasion story – it depends who you talk to), I do have reservations about this gig happening at all in Turkish Cyprus. Even more so as in July, it is the 40th anniversary of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus and feelings are bound to be running a little high. You only have to read the Cyprus Mail on line and there’s always some arguments going on about the Cyprus occupation. I hope the gig goes off OK and everyone enjoys themselves, but it’s a gig that DP management should have seriously thought about first…….
