This show is not going to happen. 🙁
December 14th, 2010 at 15:36what is the reason? low ticket sales again?
January 4th, 2011 at 02:20Nazareth’s website informs that Prague show was cancelled due to the “low ticket sales”.
This is the third time in the last 2 years when Deep Purple / or Deep Purple associated show is cancelled of this particular reason: “low ticket sales”. Even in Germany, where DP is still popular, on some dates on the last tour DP played mostly in a half-empty arenas.. This is what the so appreciated “extensive touring” results in. People are simply tired of seeing DP for 20 times in one country each year.
Seeing Deep Purple or associated project live must be something which people should miss and dream for, not be tired of seeing them every month

from the information that we have, this show was never finalized and never actually went on sale.

Thanks for the info, but fans from Prague at Nazareth’s website said the show was cancelled doe to “low ticket sales”. Ok, Tesla Arena show cancellation seems to be a controversial subject because of the two different sources, but what about other shows? The tickets in Switzerland are still only some 50-60% sold (1 week left before the show) and the Bernil’s Tempodrome gig is only half sold.
Even though I’m the abnormal fanatic for Deep Purple and Gillan, sometimes I think that seeing DP in my country for 10 times per year would be kind of bothering…

It had nothing to do with ticket sales. Concert tickets were never on public sale for this event. There were problems between promoter organizators – Czech organizator who wanted to organize the show and between company who is organizing the tour as whole around Europe. AFAIK (from my sources) there was never signed any contract, sadly. Rock Meets Classic was organized two years ago in our country with other singers and then it was cancelled due to poor ticket sales (it was very suprising that time), but then IG was not part of this event.
There is only one concert which was cancelled in Prague – that was Jon Lord´s show in Obecni dum (but it was mainly because tickets were priced . Other shows, which were “announced” (sadly before signing a final contract!) on various sites were this (announced only on THS sites, NEVER on any Czech sites!), Ian Paice´s clinic show (which originally should be at the end of January but due some organization reasons it was not finally signed) and as last there were plans for March show of Don Airey – but Don has to be in Spain, so there were not find a date which would fit yet – but there is still chance that this show will happen later.
January 6th, 2011 at 17:07Ouch – I didnt finished one sentence – that was about tickets of Jon Lord which were priced very high – for example best tickets were more than double of tickets for Deep Purple show last October…. Add really poor promotion of concert and then you have a result. 🙁
