I can NOT understand why Deep Purple agrees to perform on a festival where they are a warm-up band and not headliners???
I think they do not respect their own reputation. Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and DEEP PURPLE – those three band are considered to be the great triumvirate of ROCK. but they appear on a festival as a worm-up band for Gossip, which is actually a “new” post-punk, indie rock band with SOME mainstream success.
Shame on DP
July 2nd, 2010 at 10:23This is very sad indeed. There are some interesting characters in this festival lineup such as iggy Pop and patti Smith.. Argeles sur mer is also a dreafull place in summer, populated by more than 100,000 loosers living in rvs and tents in campings surrounding this little town. Not really the Madison Square Garden or Wembley arena for sure… The boys are starting to worry me…
July 12th, 2010 at 16:19I have just got back from Valmy and Deep Purple were the head lining act IMO. Gossip didn’t come on stage until 01:00 and by that time everyone was knackered and a bit drunk. The boys were outstanding, Valmy is an amazing venue, it’s a natural amphitheatre (is that right) and they abso-fuckin-lutely rocked. I first saw them at the Portsmouth Guildhall in 1971 and tonight brought back some fantastic memories.
[Patrick] I live close to Argeles and your wrong, in the summer there are over a million losers in the campsites.
July 13th, 2010 at 00:28Sorry the last time I spent the summer in Argeles sur Plage was in 1974, My family rented a house for the whole summer ( I went to Argeles for the summer from 62 t0 74 ). That summer I was 12 and I remember I was blasting non stop the Burn album the whole summer. It is funny that iggy Pop went to the deferlantes, because I used also to play raw power that summer. I have moved to distant shores now ( Dallas, TX ) to escape the loosers staying at campsites and I have not seen Deep purple since they came last to town in 2007.
