Bologna 1971
An audience recording of Deep Purple gig in Bologna, Italy, on May 27, 1971, has surfaced on YouTube. The sound quality is, ahem, fair, but one can not ask too too much from that era.
Thanks to Claudio Grassi for the upload and letting us know.
Using tools like Izotope’s RX4, there may be some filtering that can be done to clean it up a bit. Of course, I haven’t heard the audio quality yet.
December 12th, 2014 at 17:35Are you going to post the next one that “surfaces on Youtube” and the next, and the next that have already surfaced elsewhere before there too? 😀
December 12th, 2014 at 17:37Remember the 70s? Remember new, sealed albums were $5 but boots were $20 and up, up, up? It sounded like a freight train was speeding by between you and the band. And yet, we listened . . .
December 12th, 2014 at 17:57Surely this has been around for a while ?
December 12th, 2014 at 18:37THS, were you asleep for the last 10 years? “Has surfaced” ? There are TONS of bootlegs on YT, both AUD and VIDEO and have been for many many years. This Italy show is not a new discovery…
December 13th, 2014 at 11:34Before you idiots criticizing the Highway Star staff lose the plot completely, let me remind you that this isn’t a paying job. Everyone running this site has a life away from here, with jobs, families, etc that require their attention. They don’t sit around and cruise YouTube 24/7 to try and discover every DP related video/audio clip that gets ;posted. The rely on fans to pass on what they stumble upon there and elsewhere, then pass that information on to the folks who visit this site. Lighten up and appreciate this site for what it is, the best run DP related site on the internet.
December 14th, 2014 at 23:24For my part I’m happy to get a hint like this time and again as I have not got the time to check YOUTUBE every day for Purple stuff like some people here seem to have. So thanks for that.
December 15th, 2014 at 09:04I’m sure this info is very relevant. Any Purple hearted fan (and boot collector) knows that Bologna 1971 is not an easy find; I can’t even point any boot (silver pressed or CDR). Thanks a lot for THS for this useful information.
