JLT talks Rainbow reunion
Joe Lynn Turner gave an interview to Rock Overdose and a question of Rainbow reunion popped up:
Rock Overdose So, talking about Ritchie, do you see maybe a reunion for the band of Rainbow?
Joe Lynn Turner Well, I’m gonna be honest with you, right now. Yes! Possibly. It’s very possible. Last year, I wouldn’t say it. But this year I say it. It’s possible. It’s a very big possibility that something might, just might, happen. I heard talk a bit and all I can say is that I’m not supposed to talk about it, but I’m talking to you now, and all I want you to do is say yes. It’s a very big possibility that we may have a reunion. It will be phenomenal.
Thanks to Hair Bangers Radio for the info.
…but who would be the singer?…
…and would play lead guitar?
Dream on… and have a nice Day!!!
August 26th, 2014 at 15:31Oh crap, not JLT,at least let it be Graham Bonnet.
August 26th, 2014 at 15:48joe lynn no please!!!! graham bonnet!!!!
August 26th, 2014 at 15:48from his lips to God’s ears..
August 26th, 2014 at 15:50Well the remaing members of Deep Purple have ruled it out (their loss),so why not ? Blackmores Night are fine, but Ritchie has anoher side, and I think a Rainbow reunion of some sort would be great. The Gillan dominated Purple now doesnt suit me at all, I still think Ian is the best Purple vocalist ever by tje way before someone tries to verbally crucify me, but a lot of the current material is not to my liking at all. i dont blame Steve Morse either who is a very talented guy, but the rhyming half rap shit tjat comes into a lot of their material now, REALLY annoys me
August 26th, 2014 at 15:59Dear Ritchie, if this really has to be, take Doogie!
August 26th, 2014 at 16:01If any rainbow reunion, I’d love to see doogie on vocals again.
August 26th, 2014 at 16:12They would have to play pretty small places if they brought the act to the States.
August 26th, 2014 at 16:20No joe lynn average. God no. Graham or Doogie. Don’t think I could see JLA.
August 26th, 2014 at 16:23Britain would be out with JLT
August 26th, 2014 at 16:26Hey – If this is no bullsh…, this will be the greatest news of the year.
Hey Ritchie – lets go … I wish it for about 20 years …

August 26th, 2014 at 16:41Oh come on Joe….. You sound like a little school girl with your remarks……
“But this year I say it. It’s possible. It’s a very big possibility that something might, just might, happen. I heard talk a bit and all I can say is that I’m not supposed to talk about it, but I’m talking to you now, and all I want you to do is say yes.”
Please Ritchie….. DON’T DO IT! Anybody but with this guy. PLEASE. Do a NEW RAINBOW if Rainbow is in the cards. Not a Redo of the JLT era. There are tons of singers out there that would be a better choice. Get a ftesh band together, put down some NEW stuff, make a RECORD and TOUR. But PLEASE, not with JLT.

August 26th, 2014 at 17:14Dio’s dead. So’s rainbow
August 26th, 2014 at 17:18You guys are really picky. Wtf ? It’s rainbow. I don’t care who’s singing. As long as they going to rock n roll.
August 26th, 2014 at 17:36go for it, big gigs beckon, many would cough a fortune to see blackers play a real guitar again, also JLT can handle the vocals from all era’s well.
August 26th, 2014 at 17:36I think I can handle JLT. All is fine as long as we have Ritchie back on stage !
August 26th, 2014 at 18:50Unfortunatelly I think it won´t be happen, but off course I want! very much!!
August 26th, 2014 at 19:05JLT sings just as well as he ever did, and would be the perfect choice. His style is much heavier now too. However, the last album with Doogie White was absolutely brilliant and it was really sad that we didn’t get a follow-up. Bonnett would be my last choice, I would rather hear a new talent instead.
August 26th, 2014 at 19:08Without Cozy…….no!!!!!
August 26th, 2014 at 19:11As long as Ritchie is on the Strat…..don’t care who sings
August 26th, 2014 at 19:57YESSSS!
My favourite band of all time – no matter what line-up. Welcome back! The last time I read an interview of JLT where he said he was possibly going to work with RB again, was before Slaves and Masters album, and that happened. Hopefully this Rainbow reunion happens too.
August 26th, 2014 at 20:05I would rather see Ritchie do a new rock album with a bunch of different musicians and singers. And just call it “Ritchie Blackmore..and friends.” Heck even his friend Gillan can sing on a track or two!
August 26th, 2014 at 20:27great stuff bring it on
August 26th, 2014 at 20:51JLT!!!!’ YES!!!
August 26th, 2014 at 21:07Yeah right. Richie is all of a sudden dropping what he says he LOVES to do and start to rock again. Don’t think so. Rainbow? If Deep Purple can only play arenas of 10,000 or less does Richie really want to tour and get venues half the size max? It would be mostly big bars that hold 1000 to 2000 people in North America at best!
August 26th, 2014 at 21:43It aint gonna happen!
NWO
YAWN,,,
August 26th, 2014 at 21:50Oh please, when will this drama queen fade away? It is one thing for fans to want certain band reunions, but for a forgotten wannabe to start fantasizing about it, well, enough said! As some have already stated, NO, OH NO, not JLT, PLEASE NO! Cheers.
August 26th, 2014 at 21:51GB is singing Rainbow tunes with Catch the Rainbow – and the reviews do sound good so I may drag myself to see them.
Not sure what DW is up to.
I have never been impressed with JTL, he was the weakest of the Rainbow vocalists, even on Slaves and Masters. (I know it says DP on the cover but it does not deserve to).
I would not be Rainbow if Ritchie went back to an earlier line up. If any band was a roundabout surely Rainbow is the one.
Given the tendency of Rainbow vocalists, with the honourable exception of Dio, to end up singing with Yngwie Malmsteen; surely the logic would be for Ritchie to hire one YM’s more recent vocalists. Both Tim Owens and Mark Boals stepped into the dwarf’s shoes singing in Dio’s Disciples.
August 26th, 2014 at 21:59Actually, I have to go further with this so called fantasy. No Bonnet, No Doogie, nothing at all! It is pointless, utterly pointless! The only time a Rainbow ‘reunion’ was possible, was before Cozy Powell’s unfortunate passing in ’98! Forget it! Cheers.
August 26th, 2014 at 22:03“Half rap?”Ahh, haven’t listened lately I see. Ritchie does have the luxury of keeping it interesting for himself by perhaps giving all three singers a spot somehow. To narrow it down to one seems to smell of that singer defining Rainbow for him when all three are still very good, especially JLT. He still has the pipes to carry it, I’m sure.
August 26th, 2014 at 23:04Hey guys – If this happend really, we will see it …
… Who is H I S next singer of H I S Rainbow …
By the way … young blood … new talents … and other guys
But old crap like you … (sorry 😉 Joe … )
I don’t think so…
But in fact … the time will show us, what’s going on here …

August 26th, 2014 at 23:42Hell Yeah!
August 27th, 2014 at 00:52I don’t care who sings as long as Ritchie brings Rainbow back to life I’d be happy. But if I could choose I’d say that Ritchie could form a new Rainbow with a new singer. I’ve been waiting for this for 17 years now….
August 27th, 2014 at 01:18NOT GRAHAM BONNET AND DOOGIE WHITE.
JLT GREAT MUSICIAN AND SONGWRITER 🙂
August 27th, 2014 at 02:15Blackmore has spoken in the past regarding a “one-off concert” meant for “nostalgia” and being “for the fans”. For me, anything less than a bona fide album is irrelevant.
August 27th, 2014 at 02:34Cause anything is possible … right?
August 27th, 2014 at 04:34I like JLT’s singing. I don’t like some of the silly remarks he makes, but he is a good frontman and he gets along with Ritchie, which is the most important thing. If that’s what it takes to get Rainbow back together – go for it!!
August 27th, 2014 at 06:01JLT is a good singer. I’m not fond of his silly remarks, but he gets along with Ritchie and that is all that counts. Ritchie has to be happy to make it work, right?
August 27th, 2014 at 06:04If there ever was or is gonna be a Rainbow reunion, it was always to be Joe or Dougie on vocals as much as I would love to see Dougie back but Ritchie does get on very well with Joe. Obviously Joe knows more than we do so fingers crossed and would be great to see Ritchie bring Rainbow back.
August 27th, 2014 at 07:29F..k yeah!!! JLT or Doogie, I don’t care as long as Ritchie is involved! Just think about it. That sound, that unique style, live once again, playing HARD ROCK! YEAH!!!!!
August 27th, 2014 at 08:26One word:- Deluded
August 27th, 2014 at 08:43Candice and Joe singing “Street of dreams”
August 27th, 2014 at 10:02That’s probably what he calls a reunion lol
If they can get some sparks flying one more time, so why not? It’s only entertainment (oh, well, maybe not Ritchies playing, that’s important stuff, but anyway…). 😉
August 27th, 2014 at 10:38I never thought I’d see the day when purple fans would become dissapointed because of the possibility of a Rainbow reunion. It’s Ritchie playing hard rock, for christ’s sake!
August 27th, 2014 at 12:41If it’s got anything to do with Bonnet or Turner it’s a complete waste of time however should White front the band again it could prove interesting other than that I have no interest, this should have happened when RJD was alive and well with the then much speculated classic MK II line up. PK.
August 27th, 2014 at 13:52Graham lost his voice completely. He wasn’t great to begin with but have any of you even heard one of his recent performances. Worse than Gillan could ever get.
Never thought i’d say that what with Gillan’s vocal decline.
August 27th, 2014 at 15:09If they are actually going to record an album, then I’d think JLT would be an easier sell for a suit….he did sing on their biggest US hits. If it is going to be a one off nostalgia thing….I’ll just pull out a DVD.
I think the direction he went in with SIUA was a good one (get young fresh musicians) but he’ll have a hard time selling that…
In any event, he’ll be lucky to sell out 1000 seat venues with any Rainbow lineup unless it is a one off reunion/nostalgia thing properly promoted.
That one off event seems to be the likeliest scenario. And the one that is least likely to get my pulse moving. I don’t mind JLT on vocals but would prefer someone new or Doogie….who really was quite good….and would likely work cheap. 🙂
August 27th, 2014 at 16:37@28 mcGregor
Right on man! I don’t think it will happen, and even if it does,Blackmore would not want have this clown as a singer,,,but you never know.I wish Blackmore does a few hard rock songs with a different line up.
August 27th, 2014 at 16:50There might have been a market out there for Dio doing Stargazer on stage together with Blackers, but I think the market for Joe and his former guitarist doing, errrm, Street of Dreams is kind of limited.
I’m not knocking Joe, I’ve seen him with Rainbow, DP and Hughes Turner Project, he never sang anything but well. (Just plug your ears when he does his horrible stage raps, ok?) But he’s not the type of guy who can convincingly sing (much less project on stage) the Dio era stuff and that is – like it or not (I’m more a Bonnet guy myself) – what people will want to hear. Not because he is a bad singer – he is not -, but because the kid from New Jersey makes himself laughing stock when he hollers “all eyes see the figure of the wizard …”. It’s just not him. Dio’s lyrics are a bit like Ozzy’s (or, correctly, Geezer Butler’s), very few people can sing and feel them with a straight face.
May I propose a name for this fledgling project? Ja? Ok: How about “The Hairs of Rainbow”?
Ducking …
But if you’re gonna do it, let Bob Daisley be the bass player!
August 27th, 2014 at 21:17Sorry JLT. I think you need to hang the gloves up. If you didn’t take care of your financial situation, it won’t fix itself now. IF RB will ever entertain rock and roll again, it won’t be with you… who’s the person who said “I wouldn’t sing someone else’s drivel… ahem.. nuff said. buh bye
August 27th, 2014 at 22:02The greatest voice of Rainbow was RJD !
August 28th, 2014 at 02:26The only option for a reunion is with Doogie White !
But I don’t think so …
The dream died at RJD’s departure they then became a seperate entity and were no longer Rainbow, from being the ultimate HR/HM trip they then became a generic mainstream band with two generic mainstream singers.
August 28th, 2014 at 05:16The Stranger In Us All album/line up brought back some credibility and Doogie White although he wasn’t brilliant was a much better choice in singers.
A very good performance and he could cut it live at times a little outspoken but not a complete yes man to Blackmore unlike pop Bonnet and cabaret act Turner.
I hope this insane idea doesen’t happen but now that BLT has let slip it could well feature him and a repeat of Since You Been Gone and I Surrender…can’t wait!!!
al @ 50 – I could possibly see Blackmore doing a one off show for a ‘blast from the past’ thing. But he would become bored very quickly with anything along the reunion lines, IMHO! Turner sounds like Hughes to me, he is desperate to wander the big stage again. Unless they can link up with someone who is a big name draw card, it more than likely will never happen! The saying ‘desperate times calls for desperate measures’, comes to mind! If Blackmore is getting a buzz from the thought of a large hard rock gig appearance, then I think it would only be with Purple. After all, there is half of Rainbow there as well anyway! I could be wrong though. Cheers.
August 28th, 2014 at 08:55Well, I would drag myself and a couple of mates to go and see Rainbow Again after all these years. However, those of us who live in the real World would argue that we have bigger chance of seeing Blackers as the Next Miss World than reforming Rainbow Again.
August 28th, 2014 at 10:21Lots of differing opinions here. I doubt it would happen to begin with. Maybe an Album together, but a tour??? These days in the States it would not be very big and I think Ritchie would get very bored VERY fast. The man will be 70 next year and I can’t see this holding his fancy for very long.
August 28th, 2014 at 10:45Here’s a thought! Just an idea, not likely to happen, but imagine if Tony Martin (ex-Black Sabbath) was hired for the job. Excellent vocalist, (yes I know some people complained that he sounded too much like Dio! but really is that a bad thing??) If you can get your hands on the album “The Third Cage” by Martin and guitarist Dario Mollo, you will understand what I am getting at here.
I saw Tony when he was in Black Sabbath in 1990 on the Tyr tour with Iommi, Cozy Powell, and ex-Whitesnake bassist Neil Murray. He has the pipes to carry any tune that Rainbow ever did.
August 28th, 2014 at 13:12Wow Ritchie playing Rock and Roll would be very cool!
August 28th, 2014 at 13:59I think people are entitled to their opinion but I think some could have better manners!
I would love to see it. Would it just be a tour or an album too?
With Cozy gone I doubt it would happen with Graeme, plus Don and Roger are now with the “Let’s hate Ritchie,” fan club (honestly, get over it and move on Gillan, Ritchie has!) I’d love to see Ritchie do a blues/folk album with David Coverdale (not as a purple album) and my biggest dream for the man, a duet CD with Jon of the “Durham Concerto” meets medieval Blackmore will sadly now never happen. If Rainbow did reform it would probably be a completely new band or possibly Doogie White and some new musicians (which would be brilliant) though I’m not bothered. I love Blackmore’s Night anyway and as long as Ritchie takes a couple of years out to recharge his writing abilities (didn’t like much on the last 2 CDs) then I’m happy.
August 28th, 2014 at 15:38Here are more interesting news than the daydreams of JLT:
The “Bang your Head” concert from July 2014 with the Axel Rudi Pell band featured many DP/Rainbow related musicians: Tony Carey, Doogie White, Bobby Rondinelli, Graham Bonnet, Vinny Appice, John Lawton…
The concert was filmed and will be released in March 2015.
Here’s the setlist from “wikipedia” (in german):

Have a nice Day!
August 28th, 2014 at 17:51@55 Mac Gregor
As always you took the words out of my mouth and spelled out dude! I am still fuming about the crowd at Casino Rama and how disappointing the vibe was, great concert and tight band, with a “tired” gambling house fans ,with no reaction at all!! Imagine the loudest person in the crowd, was my wife and she only knows Ian Gillan from the band and doesn’t care much about rock n roll and such ! lol Cannot wait to catch the band somewhere in The State or else.As for Blackers,I hope he dabbles one more time into the hard rocking(I doubt it) then he can get bored all he want ! lol
Cheers
August 28th, 2014 at 20:05What is that saying, ‘any publicity is good publicity’? Not that I need to hear about Turner wanting to be back in Rainbow, but any media hype for someone as he, well, the camera is looking at him isn’t it? Cheers.
August 28th, 2014 at 21:26This is great news if its true. No Graham or Doogie though please. Lets make this happen. Cant see it lasting all too long. RB would get bored and is difficult to work with for extended periods of time.
August 29th, 2014 at 11:41When OTR was playing in Belgium there was talk about a real OTR studioalbum and JLT had more moments he suggested ” something” might happen.
Rumours always were there.
I d love it but at best there will be a short tour, I think.
Drawing capacity?
You ll never know.
Even when he did the SIUA tour in 1995/1996 he sold out completely the AHOY/Rotterdam venue..
I dont think many saw that happen, either.
Ritchie Blackmore in a rock band will always be a drawing card, I think 🙂
I m afraid JLT’s thoughts are wishfull thinking, but you ll never know.
Who expexted DP to rise from the ashes in 1984?
Or in 1993?
Speculating about other singers for a revamped Rainbow is a joy.
Ann Wilson of HEART? 🙂
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haa975TU4Vk
August 29th, 2014 at 12:35The three JLT Rainbow albums are mainly bland AOR, so why would we want more of the same? Why does it have to be Rainbow? Ritchie could put together a new project. I’d love to see a bluesier approach with Coverdale singing with his lower and middle range (better than his screeching upper register which is shot), and David is a better writer than JLT. Plus, it’d pull in more people than with Turner, who looks like more and more like a fading drag queen.
August 29th, 2014 at 13:22The Joe Lynn Turner era albums of Rainbow are great albums. Just like with Purple, the Rainbow albums progressed nicely going from the epic stargazing wizardry of the early albums to the more concise commercialism of the later stuff while maintaining the compositional craft and musicality you’re always guaranteed from Ritchie. I for one would be attending at least a couple of shows if Blackmore and Turner get something together again.
August 29th, 2014 at 20:18I would love to see it.
August 30th, 2014 at 04:12Well, it’s 40 years since Rainbow’s formation next year, so it’s not totally impossible. But at the same time I’m not holding my breath. Reunion would naturally be with JLT, ’cause he sang on 3 albums. The best case scenario, now that Ronnie is gone, would be having all the 3 singers and not just doing their material, but doing each others and RJD era songs as well. Haven’t heard Graham sing for a few years, but at least he used to be brilliant. He was doing Rainbow tunes here in Finland with JLT and they both sang wonderfully and there was Dio era material in the setlist too of course, Stargazer sounded amazing. Both of them signed my Finyl Vinyl double-LP, so it was one hell of a evening indeed. Lost in Hollywood brothers and sisters! Can’t see any intense touring happening, the biggest metal festivals in Europe, some gigs in the States and so on. Hopefully a new album will materialize.
August 30th, 2014 at 22:04All talk only, the chances of that happening are a huge nothing, out of curiousity if there was talk, and whether we believe it or not i wonder who approached whom first, first some reason can you imagine Ritchie Blackmore even making those suggestions? Is he getting bored with his
August 31st, 2014 at 02:58medieval 16th Century type of music? He must be getting restless? There had been “talk” about
reunions the past few years and they have come to absolutely nothing, and what ever the
reasons and there would be a few, as what Joe Lynn Turner suggested on the “Difficult To Cure”
Can’t Happen. If it did occur do you select Joe Lynn Turner, well he has a new album due the next few weeks, David Coverdale has a new guitarist from Night Ranger, Glenn Hughes has
his band and album to promote, i am not holding my breath on any Rainbow reformation.
@66
I’d say neither one of them dude,if that would happen at all.If Ritchie is itching for some rock music, would probably work with ‘new blood”,but like every one is saying here you never know.Never say never! Or just another smoke out JLT ass for some publicity and poking on direction of Blackmore like MacGregor said.
September 1st, 2014 at 00:25Everybody is knocking it before it happens? If Richie plays really well, like he did on the Battle Rages on cd & tour. Plus Joe sings like he did on Yngwie Malmsteens Odessy . It would be a great album, together with some other decent musicians. Am not really into this Blackmore Night thing, something with Joe again would be great.
September 1st, 2014 at 12:46Joe’s a good singer. He did some good songs with Rainbow and Purple(Jealous Lover, Slow Down Sister, Street of Dreams, Death Alley Driver, to name a few. Sure he also had some duds, but then everybody does.
September 3rd, 2014 at 12:29We all need a really good Blackmore album, it’s so loooong overdue. I don’t really care who the hell sings on it as long as it rocks.
September 4th, 2014 at 12:35PLEASE RITCHIE!!
September 4th, 2014 at 15:21Coverdale a better writer?
September 4th, 2014 at 22:52Seriously?
Personally should it happen why not have another Rainbow incarnation another different line up and get a Jorn Lande type real pedigree singer in we won’t have to suffer another BLT or Bonnet fiasco again.
September 5th, 2014 at 17:59Keep the theme running from the Stranger album in similar line up style and that medieval ambience which featured on the Stranger album.
Unless Doogie should show up with the rest of the same line up makes sense really,
Or Ritchie could ask Gillan or Coverdale to guest spot, sounds like fun, I hope he keeps the Blackmore’s Night theme running okay it’s never really lived up to it’s full potential with too much mediocre and weak material that said there has been some stunning music created.
Far better than that commercial dross they spewed out down the years, as always thee PowerKnight.
Bent out of shape!!!!!C’mon guys, lets put some rock n roll n rock n roll…Joe is great.By the way the singer really don1t matter.
September 5th, 2014 at 22:48Perhaps, I think Blackmore cannot play the fine electric guitar anymore. I guess the new Rainbow album would worsen more than the Doogie era. I’m sure the 70-year-old, tired Blackmore cannot continue the long concert tour. JLT should continue the “Rated X”. Karl Cochran fits the band.
September 7th, 2014 at 15:31i dont care who the hell sings. jlt has always been good. the problem is blackmore has BURNed a lot of bridges. i want him to do an all instrumental rock album. some heavy some sad and some bluesy stuff. at least half instrumental. i know he has some super riffs waiting to ge recorded he has too.he has more on the back burner than most on the frontline! maybe he could do a huge show and have a dozen ex rainbow people all paly a few songs graham doogie cozy and whoever else wants to play. whatever it takes to get him to st louis mo. i would by a dozen tickets and give them away just so ritchie would come and play here. Please Ritchie do you realise how many guitarists love you. i know you arent a people person but candace has tamed you enough to enjoy LOVE. your my favorite Ritchie. do it now before its to late you got a lot of miles left i know you do. your fading away in the night. how about a solo guitar album and then a tour. it would be better than all this crap now days .
September 9th, 2014 at 04:24@80……
It pains me to write this but…. Ritchie isn’t going to go through the hassle of recording NEW music. He has fallen into the rut of researching and finding obscure Renaissance tunes from the past and putting his own twist to it. That is his present creative ability. Ripping of other tunes..(same as before also). Just as he did with the Jon Lord tribute song….(The Loner/Carry on Jon). As much as I love to hear him play, I also know where his heart and soul is. Unfortunately it isn’t with anything the Blackmore Worshippers are begging for. But you shouldn’t be too unhappy. He is still doing those riffs from time to time in his Band of Tights and Pointy Hats. Might be time to find a new guitar hero. Hey, Steve Morse might just be the ticket. He plays in a band called Deep Purple and they ROCK and still put out ROCK ALBUMS.
Ch-BeerZ
September 9th, 2014 at 19:31What’s new with Ritchie guys…the amount of time and chances he has had to pull out a Ritchie Blackmore solo album should easily have happened down the years but it still didn’t show up.
September 9th, 2014 at 20:44And during that time musicians such as the great Jon Lord who sadly is no longer with us could have added to what might have been a momentous album featuring added guests etc.
As time passes it just doesen’t look like it’s ever going to happen, it’s for this reason if there is another Rainbow reunion in no matter what shape and guise, what is the point behind it.
Especially should he rekindle a JLT type line up, it’s been done back then why repeat something that let’s face it wasn’t exactly a groundbreaking idea.
I can understand the fanbase want Ritchie to rock n roll again and play hard rock/metal by the genius of Blackmore, but if it did actually happen what in the word of progression are we going to get…or not?
Let sleeping dogs lie Purple/Rainbow it’s all been done by Blackmore many times I just can’t see much point in it anymore, it’s always going to be the same story with Blackers…what if!
Chances blown and gone, you could write an encyclopedia on Blackmore’s wasted past, stubborn and couldn’t care less for his fanbase.
Even his management and some of his ex Rainbow members didn’t have the hindsight in the past to land hypothetically a Ritchie Blackmore instrumental possible fluke number one hit…Weiss Heim!!!
Yes on the back of commercial success this B-side could easily have struck it gold the time was ripe had DJ’s picked up it I’m sure Blackmore just might have had a number one hit here in the all those years ago.
It never happened but you never know what could have been, PowerKnight.
In 1981, if have seen Rainbow live in Hamburg with supporting Act Def Leppard.
After the show, I met Roger Glover and he said, that there is something going on with the “Deep Purple Mk.II” and it happens in 1983 / 1984 … after a very long time – but it happend.
Why not – for me: YES – with Doogie White or another young fresh one

September 10th, 2014 at 11:06Frankly, I just want to see Ritchie play some real rock and roll again. After a 20 year hiatus that would be lovely. As the singer goes, I’d prefer Doogie White, but I have no problem with Joe Lynn Turner. If there is a Rainbow Reunion I’ll just be happy for that . . .

True. The guy i done with that,At 70 yo,I don’t think he wants to play in a rock band and go out touring. All we re going to see,is maybe a song or two with Purple,if that would happen at all, even though the singer(Gillan) is opposing to that.
@80 seriously dude.we all like to dream about that, but it is time to come back to earth.
September 10th, 2014 at 13:50I don’t think he is capable of doing an instrumental album ,cause it is not Ritchie, and he said before he cannot do that, and the only instrumental he will do is the actual New Renaissance crap that is doing now.Taking all the folk and obscure medieval song, dusting them off, and making an easy cheesy album. No creativity at all, just same old same old.Moving on with rock,We still have a very good rock band Deep Purple, who got the right man BOB EZRIN and gonna give us another good quality album sometimes next year!
Cheers
It is all very comical the absurd comments regarding Blackmore not doing anything, or ripping other people off or wasting his past opportunities? What planet are the people saying this living on? Obviously not planet earth, as Blackmore’s past leaves no stone unturned. Another hilarious observation is the ‘chip on shoulder’ attitude some have towards TMIB. Sure some posters here get tired of others saying they prefer Blackmore in Purple, so what? So the resentment from some ‘fans’ towards certain people saying those things, turns into a anti Blackmore comment or three! Sure we have all moved on, everything always moves forward, it is called evolution! It doesn’t mean we have to enjoy all aspects of it, but it still moves forward in many different forms. But that doesn’t erase the past either, so the fine line between the past & present waxes & wanes & modulates constantly.
September 10th, 2014 at 22:12The other comment we keep seeing is, ‘Morse has been in Purple for 20 years’! Yes, talk about stating the obvious, but he is enjoying his opportunity & he deserves it & as he said back when he joined, ‘at least I don’t have to lug my own gear anymore’! You have to laugh!
We now have two sides tossing & turning, the Blackmore clan, of which cannot be denied & the Morse era clan, supporting all things Purple, at times, depending on their flavour of the month!
It was for obvious reasons, a great shame in regards to Jon Lord becoming ill & passing from this life! From a musical perspective, a great shame indeed that he & Blackmore didn’t get to record that album they wanted to do. But then again, it would have been full of ripped off ideas from other people, boring ‘classical’ or ‘renaissance’ or blues music, that has been done before by so many! What would Blackmore & Lord know about ‘rock’ music? Cheers.
What happened to Coverdale and Blackmore getting together for a MKIII reunion? Someone ask them?
September 12th, 2014 at 19:28Without Lordy an integral part of not just the excellent and often underrated MK III line up it just wouldn’t work, it really is now officially over, is that the MacGregor I have bumped into in the past…it must be…hi stranger nice to hear from your distinctive style again…greetings…PK.
September 12th, 2014 at 21:04PK @88- yes it is I, still lurking around this site & a few others! Currently salivating at the King Crimson reviews I have been reading, from their current tour in the US. Cheers.
September 16th, 2014 at 06:47Progression is overrated.
I d give an arm and a leg to get the chance to see him re do the old grand formula only he is able to give us.
September 19th, 2014 at 14:54No Blackmore’s Rainbow. No Blackmore’s Night…… how about something NEW. Blackmore’s Blackmore? Ritchie, just put a new band together and do some good Blues/Rock music. There has to be a small spark of desire left in you somewhere. Somewhere Outside the Rainbow? Just call it “BLACKMORE”.

As far as I can remember Ritchie had problems with loud sounds and thus did not want to the old thing (long tours with heavy music)anymore.
It would surprise me a lot if he did produce anything out of the box or something along the lines you mention.
If not in all those years, then why now?
September 27th, 2014 at 21:21It’ll never happen because Ritchie is too happy with his current project and you cant have a Rainbow reunion without the man in black. Joe should stop living in the past and just move on to some new projects.
