Sounds kick ass.
Is Ian’s solo band better than the current DP? I think so!!
August 19th, 2006 at 14:28Yeah looks great, would definitive be there if I could.
August 20th, 2006 at 10:07I wouldn’t say that Ian’s solo band is better than the current DP,but….compared to the predictable setlists on the last few DP North American tours,Gillan In Toronto was a much appreciated breath of fresh air !!
August 20th, 2006 at 18:32I attended the show in Buffalo. Probably 300 people at a small venue, and I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. Ian sang with passion and intensity, and you couldn’t help but see it being so close.
Purple is great, but it was refreshing to see his solo work performed by mates who were obviously excited to share the stage with Mr. Gillan. The songs rock pretty hard.
I took my two sons (11 and 15), and they have been playing both Purple and Gillan on the CD player, so the event definitely left a positive mark on them.
After the show, we got to meet Ian, and he could not have been more gracious.
Say what you want about Ian Gillan and the ups and downs over the years, but the night in Buffalo was something I would never trade.
If you get the chance to make an event on this tour, you should do it. A really great set, a good band, and a rare intimate setting. I’m hard pressed to say that it gets any better than that.
