    Made In Japan…good title…

  2. 2
    Buttockss says:

Wish it had more classic old songs then new ones, still will purchase for the blue ray. The badger is it a new song ? ” please ” explain .

  3. 3
    Bo says:

Looks OK, but to much of his newest US crap rock. Will he never learn. Whitesnake died when he went “big hair US style”. The funny thing is that he cant sing that kind of rock anymore, but I’m sure he still could sing the REAL Whitesnake tunes from the golden years loooong time ago. And even do it great. He migh loose a few but he will win a lot the old fans back again.

  4. 4
    George Martin says:

I guess David couldn’t think of a different title for the album other than “Made In Japan” Hate to say it David but there’s only one “Made In Japan” and we all know which one it is. I wonder what Ian, Roger, Ian and Ritchie think about this? My first thought was you’ve got to be kidding me.

  5. 5
    Jack says:

Calling this live album Made in Japan is a sacrilege, there’s only one Made in Japan…Deep Purple’s immortal double album!!!! Period!!!!!

  6. 6
    nzbiker says:

    And hopefully vinyl!

  7. 7
    DeepOz says:

why oh why would they name their CD “Made in Japan” – just stupid (IMHO)

  8. 8
    Michiel says:

I will stick to the REAL ‘Made in Japan’.
And to ‘Live… In The Heart Of The City.’

  9. 9
    Drdp says:

Made FOR Japan wasn’t enough for old Cov’ back in the 70’s?

Maybe this is all a ploy to remind the world that Hey, I used to be in DP MK III!

But I wonder to what end?

  10. 10
    Ziya Celayiroglu says:

What a creative name for a live album recorded by David Coverdale’s band… I wonder how much precious hours of brain-storming did take place in their meeting room. Bravo!

  11. 11
    Ziya Celayiroglu says:

… sorry, it should be “how many”, not “how much”.

  12. 12
    Joe says:

Come on DC, you could’nt come up with an original title of your own ? What a lightweight ! thats why Ian Gillan will always be the voice of DEEP PURPLE !!!

  13. 13
    Wiktor says:

I agree with many here, how low can you go, David? Is there no limit to your stupidity? And thats one of many reasons why, like Joe says, Ian Gillan will always be the voice of Deep Purple!!

  14. 14
    Svante Axbacke says:

Don’t forget that, as usual, the record company might be more to blame about this than the artist.

  15. 15
    Andrey Barabanshchikov says:

    So what?
There are loads of Live in London in rock history for instance. Then sue Leonard Cohen and Judas Priest and George Michael and Slipknot and … I suppose this release is meant only for Japanese market so the label might have come up with the idea of naming the album the way it is named. There will one more Made In Japan — so rejoice! Folks relax and just enjoy the new effort from the great singer. This bla-bla-bla about WS being dead since 1987 sounds a little bit morally outdated. Sorry — this is just MY subjective standpoint. No offence to the public!
    Thank you.

  16. 16
    MacGregor says:

Yes, it could be the record company indeed, it also could be a bit of fun. It simply doesn’t matter what it is called, it isn’t Deep Purple Made In Japan, it is Whitesnake! Can certain people realize this? There have been similar comments at certain web sites recently, regarding Sabbath’s new album possibly being called ’13’. Some people waffle on about this title as if it is wrong in some way!
It simply doesn’t matter at all, period! An album title can be anything! It is the music that is important, to some people anyway!

  17. 17
    Nemanja says:

    Fail…

  18. 18
    Gillan says:

Of Coverdale at this point i can expect anything, but this is too.
    Made in Japan?
    it’s a joke?

  19. 19
    nupsi59 says:

Even the red lines on the cover are similar to the artwork of the inner sleeve of the original Deep Purple album. He also copies the “Kashmir-style” letters from Led Zeppelin for his DVDs. What a shame!

  20. 20
    Buttockss says:

Go to ( melodic rock.com ) for more info on “made in japan “.

  21. 21
    Svante Axbacke says:

@19 Those “lines” is a sun, are a very old graphic representation of Japan, “The Land of the Rising Sun”. It can be found in a million places, not just these two Made in Japans.

  22. 22
    Ivano Bosello says:

    Made in Japan…please…

  23. 23
    oleg says:

It’s a joke but still dc on of the best..
Great nemories from 2008 concert in Tel Aviv!
    David still rocking.

  24. 24
    purplepriest1965 says:

In recent years the newer albums showed a slight shift into older territory.

The rehiring of Tommy Aldridge might be a sign on the wall that he rethought his direction.
    Meaning……..back to 1987.

  25. 25
    Andy Worthington says:

I think I’ll be happier if i keep listening to the new snakecharmer album
It beats the new snake material by a mile

  26. 26
    speedking says:

Bitch and Moan. Jaysus people, let it go. DC and Whitesnake is/are still on top of their game. “Made In England”, “Made In London”, “Made In Japan”…tons of bands have used these titles over and over again. Who gives a damn what it’s called…the important part is that it rocks.

  27. 27
    Tracy(Zero the Hero)Heyder says:

Almost comical if I didn’t already expect the hypocrisy…
Going insane over the title here is ‘insane’ in itself. Further, complaints about the era that is being selected to play LIVE is even more bizarre. Especially from those whom keep clamoring for ‘present Purple tunes to be played. Well, why not the more current Snake tune? Cov and Co have been giving us music that ROCKS since his 80’s days. He has been successful throughout. More known to exist than our core favorite band Purple. Play his old stuff you love so much on tour Cassette player. I enjoy his living in the semi-present. Isn’t that what you all are bitching about that Purple refuses to do?

    CheerZ?

  28. 28
    Francisco Aviles Guevara says:

Al parecer DC a perdido la razon y es una falta de respeto para DP que quiera utilizar este nombre para su disco por eso siempre estara a la sombra de IG ademas que el hombre se ha vendido al mercado gringo no se tiene respeto a si mismo lastima

  29. 29
    Lajos says:

Now we are loking forward to “Whitesnake in rock”

Cheers to all of you Deep Purple fans.

  30. 30
    Bob says:

    You can’t do that!

  31. 31
    The Greek Tie Coon says:

Snake in Japan is more appropriate.

  32. 32
    Mike says:

    Absolutely not…..bah….

  33. 33
    purplepriest1965 says:

Hopefully DC was in shape that night or perhaps the show will be doctored to the max.

Otherwise it will be unlistenable, I m afraid.

  34. 34
    Svante Axbacke says:

@33: I read somewhere that DC announced, rather proudly, that this release had taken way too long IMO to mix. The only reason I can think of for anything like this to be mixed that long is to have time to do overdubs. We’ll see…

  35. 35
    Tommy H. says:

Come on, I don’t care who had the idea, but to use this title is just sad. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

  36. 36
    ivica says:

    Welcome to David

    ARE YOU READY !!!!

  37. 37
    purplepriest1965 says:

New show in june this year.
    55 Euro.

Sorry, even though this line up and format of the Whitesnake history is not my favourite I d still love to see after some years of staying away from ” their” shows.

I have to budget and pick out the most inspiring gigs.
If the chance is reasonly high that his voice is shot I m not gonna pay such money anymore.

  38. 38
    Tracy(Zero the Hero)Heyder says:

A live CD and DVD with current Whitesnake tunes at the core being offered, and all you all can do is respond like ‘rabid dogs’ about the title??? Man, I’d hate being a professional musician with a fan base like that you all…..incredible. Constant criticism no matter what is offered. With all the bruising our beloved heroes endure from supposed fans, they should name their albums ‘Black and Blue’.

    CheerZ?

  39. 39
    purplepriest1965 says:

Black and Blue from laughing out loud, all the way to the bank?

  40. 40
    Tracy(Zero the Hero)Heyder says:

Oh of course we must all dislike the fact that these ‘professional musicians’ get paid for their work. Priest, you never cease to amaze.

  41. 41
    MacGregor says:

Tracy @ 38 – The Stones have already used the album name “Black & Blue” be careful now………….there may be some rabid Stones fans out to get ya! cheers.

  42. 42
    LRT says:

Suggesting a record company not let me decide my album title is absurd to even think. I’ve never heard of such creative control in the business. This isn’t a compilation, or is it? I wouldn’t gripe too much other than to say it’s a stupid thing to do, but it won’t hurt what’s on the product, it will either glide or/and flop like the rest can only do these days. No title yet for Purple, and titles like this really do measure a titles importance low. It has to be this way? In Purple’s case, just like in this, they’re either saying it isn’t worth being creative about, or the music is so dam good a title can be of no substance. Are we wrong if we predict Purple don’t have a title yet? It would be fair to, simply because what they’re doing with this product has yet to see good results, and can hurt future sales as much as they think it might help. I see there being very little new fan impact coming from it, yet it seems to be the aimed demographic. Yawn already!

  43. 43
    MacGregor says:

LRT @ 42 – It happened to Tony Iommi in the mid 80’s from what I have read over the years. The solo recording he did “Seventh Star” was released as Black Sabbath featuring Tony Iommi! It can happen, record companies have or had, huge control over certain artists over the decades! I still loathe the fact they did that to that great solo record from Iommi. It doesn’t even sound like a “Sabbath” album, you can hear it is a solo record & no doubt a few albums that followed should have been titled as ‘solo’ records as well. As much as I like the albums & always defend the Tony Martin records, the record company or companies wanted the name “Black Sabbath” on any release to maximise their side of it. It does happen & I will not mention any other artists who have had their music manipulated by the ‘powers that be’!

  44. 44
    Svante Axbacke says:

@ 42/43: Yes, and in Purple’s case, I am pretty sure they just don’t care and leave it to the record company. DC might be a bit more interested in these things but I still think this is a record company idea.

  45. 45
    Svante Axbacke says:

“DC…It’s called Whitesnake ‘Made In Japan’ cos’ it’s all recorded in Japan…simple…& really there is no comparison to the stand alone fab Deeps album, which I thoroughly enjoyed promoting when I was Purple’s singer, by the way…

DC…Anyone who’s confused should immediately see their doctor & change whatever medications they’re on…

DC…Also, if I want to call an album ‘Burn’ I fucking will…”

    YESSSSSS!!!!

    Good for you David….

    CheerZ

  47. 47
    purplepriest1965 says:

    40

I was not talking about the money perse.
I just think they could not care less about this so called debate about the title of the recording.

  48. 48
    purplepriest1965 says:

    43

I think I should agree with you.
I have a huge passion for the Tony Martin records as well.

But, indeed, it might have had more integrity calling it Iommi or something else.
    Tony Iommi’s Project? TIP?

Following that logic you can understand how I feel about other bands pursuing their career using the mothershipname, because it sells. : )

Rolling Stones without Jagger and Richards? Would that outfit be accepted as The Stones?

  49. 49
    Michiel says:

There’s only one Made in Japan – and it isn’t this one!
There’s only one Whitesnake live album – and it isn’t this one!

  50. 50
    Tracy(Zero the Hero)Heyder says:

    Priest @47,

Oh, I’m sorry. Somehow your words “all the way to the bank” @39 lead me to believe Money was an issue….wierd huh?

    Michiel @49,
    Perfect example of ‘pigeon-holing.

    CheerZ?!

  51. 51
    Rob Hebenaar says:

Nobody owns the exclusive right to an album title. Lionel Hampton released in 1983 an album, recorded in Japan, called Made in Japan.
