Corner Brook show cancelled

canadian-leaf-purple.jpgUnfortunately, the Corner Brook show on February 3 has been cancelled. No explanation is given for the cancellation. The promoter Paul Merc Concerts informs that tickets will be refunded at the Pepsi Centre box office.

Corner Brook is a remote community (population 26,000) on Newfoundland’s western coast. Based on that, you can do your own speculations on the viability of bringing an artist of such calibre there.

Thanks to The Western Star for the info.

I hear it was because of poor sales. My GOD, it’s the middle of the Winter in Canada! Who books these things? After reading Colin Harts book it should be no wonder that a tour like this was booked by the Geographically Challenged employed by the band. On top of the same set list probably being retread by the band. I don’t think the (Novelty of) the Orchestra is on this tour, so what really is there to draw the Canuck’s en masse out of their homes? They need to get off the road and get batteries recharged to make new music!

Although,I now live in Toronto,Corner Brook is my hometown.
I’m not surprised the show is cancelled.$75.00 a ticket is a tad steep for folks down home.As well, people there often don’t decide to see a show until a coupla days before it happpens…or even on the day of the concert.
The economics of bringing any big name act to Newfoundland must be staggering.Airline travel alone is stupidly expensive. So,perhaps the promoter should’ve gauged the climate for a Purple show in Corner Brook more carefully ( and I’m not just talking about freezin’ your ass off in February.)
Hopefully, the St.John’s show will go ahead. The Purps need to experience the famous Newfie hospitality.
See you at Massey Hall, guys !!

Hey too bad that any show would be cancelled. Too bad the ticket sales were low as the people that did buy them will certainly be pissed. Let me tell you guys!!
I think that it is awesome that Deep Purple is playing anywhere in the maritimes. I am 49 years young and I certainly never thought that I would see these guys live and let alone within 100 miles of my home town. I will be in Halifax on the 5th of Feb in all my glory. Rock on guys and thanks for taking one off my bucket list.
