Glenn Hughes on the Blairing Out show
The Blairing Out show has conducted an interview with Glenn Hughes during the Dimebash 2011 held on December 14 in L.A. Glenn spoke about the late Ronnie James Dio, his solo and BCC plans, the failed Mk3 reunion idea, Dimebag Darrell, and other things.
Thanks to BraveWords for the info.
That’s great that the Mark III Reunion didn’t happen. I understand that Glenn Hughes and Coverdale needed to relaunch their careers and earn money. They had to do it with Whitesnake and BCC…
But I think with Coverdale particularly, it would have been a terrible show to see, and a parody of the heydays. The members of the mark III have not much in common nowadays.
I saw Ritchie Blackmore with his band in Helsinki last september. How great it was! He loves what he’s doing. He’s happy! I hope he will go on like this a long time.
December 24th, 2011 at 09:16And I had the chance to meet him after the show and get a picture with him and his wife, and a nice autograph. He’s been great!
YES – BIG BIG time YEEEES – Glenn is THE man!
December 24th, 2011 at 15:00The only problem for me is the Mrk III isue, but I’m not surprised that he was positive. Glenn is a positive person. Now Jon need s to get better and someone has to get Blackmore out of this strange world he is living in. Paice – if it’s only for a short tour – it should not be a problem. Could be fun to see him in two Purple line ups. I know which one people will go for.
MkIII reunion would be great when planned the first time in 2003. Coverdale’s voice was still good enough…but now the opportunity is gone…
December 25th, 2011 at 09:47There should never be a MK III reunion. There was not enough Great songs from their 2 albums to only concentrate on that line-up in Concert. They mutilated the MK II songs, so it would not be great. And I love all of DC’s stuff but he really has shown his age of late and am a dyed in the wool Voice Of Rock fan.And besides what is Little Ian to do? The only reason TMIB would do it is to PI** off Big Ian….
December 25th, 2011 at 13:00glenn is good on metal show, very underated bass player and wife is very hot victoria secret model 9.
December 25th, 2011 at 14:12I’m glad that dpmuc72 got an autograph & picture with RB & Candice. The last time BN came to California, I attempted to get his autograph, but a swarm of roadies surrounded him and chanted “Do Not Approach”.
December 25th, 2011 at 17:03Hello !
All and all ! If the Mk III would happen, it would be JUST great. Hope Mr. Lord will recover. He´s a f..kin GIANT! I love them all, and the lineup we speakin´ about, I´ve had the priviledge to meet them all face to face during these years – except Mr. C. – And yes, in the matter of fact, I was at the Finlandia-Hall at September, too. Blackmore´s Night – that´s right. Great Show, indeed! Ritchie was burning when soloing. Never failed, ever had. – Speaking of DP gig in Helsinki couple of weeks ago (yawn) Still I´m Sad… Take care !
December 26th, 2011 at 01:19OK, I hope all the MK3 Dreamers finally get it. Even GH admits that ship has sailed. BCC3 next year is great news. Plus Mr. Paice already is in the Real Deep Purple. Why would he bother with a one off nostalgia moment when he has maintained the integrity that he has, staying the course and keeping it real.
Cheers
December 26th, 2011 at 04:53@6 Hi Mark, That would have been at The Independent in San Francisco Feb. 1 2005?.. Maybe you saw the show in San Diego instead?… Yeah, the roadies/tour manager was an absolute dick! He told all the fans outside not to even mention out loud ANY requests (let alone reminising between fans) regarding DP and Rainbow! He said ‘Ritchie does not care if you have seen DP or Rainbow in the past. Anyone who speaks of these bands will be thrown out!”… Really set the tone for a substandard 90 min. show. I reviewed it in ‘More Black Than Purple’ mag.
December 26th, 2011 at 17:01The so called certain people wish or fantasy of this MK3 reunion was never going to happen! This is & always has been total clap trap talk, why would Blackmore gig with 2 musicians he doesn’t want anything to do with & hasn’t since 1975? More like the wanna be Hughes & also Coverdale, wanting to wank the nostalgia “remember us” bull, because not many remember them now!
December 28th, 2011 at 11:28Comical & we are very much relieved it was never going to occur & didn’t! I love the Burn album & rate it highly & also 5 songs from Stormbringer, but that was back then guys! Please………….the reunion roundabout with any band is very tiresome to say the least!
The so called MK3 reunion was never going to happen! It was the nobody musicians trying to do the “remember us” wank!
December 29th, 2011 at 21:00We are very relieved it didn’t happen & Hughes & Coverdale were dreaming, to put it nicely! Does any one really think Blackmore would ever be interested in playing with those two again!
The California Jam video is a superb concert of this on fire lineup from that era. Plenty of power, passion, fireworks & classic Blackmore behaviour on that mighty gig! Classic Purple & the audio live in Europe recording also captures the band in it’s full glory on the Stormbringer tour, if I remember correctly! It doesn’t get any better than that!
Hi Mark,
we were just 3 lucky fans waiting after the show. No swarm of roadies, just one security man who warned us before “no Deep Purple or Rainbow, or you’ll get slapped”.
December 29th, 2011 at 21:20@ 8-10
December 30th, 2011 at 22:30None believe it will happen…it could have happened, not now…this is just the misery of missing a MKIII show…I think you would have liked as well…
Yea, DC would never have done that. He definitely doesn’t need the money! Forevermore cd is an absolute gem! and the voice is still great. Also with all the dirt that went down in 80, with Ritchie well being Ritchie, scribbling notes on Davids hotel room door, and the subsuquent crap between them will forever keep those two apart! shame though, if Glenn would have sang Ian’s vocals on the MK11 stuff then the Mk3 lineup would of really been special. Oh well, we still have all those memories! I did get to see the Purple MK4 once, and Tommy was actually on for that show, and Glenn was not trying to overpower DC that night anyway. So it was a really good concert, and I will always remember it, as I also saw Aerosmith that night, a hot night indeed!! Cheers BP
December 31st, 2011 at 18:56I simply agree with #4 here, plain and simple way of reality based thinking. There just isn’t enough material to justify it, and the thought of them playing material from other line-ups, even including the mkII stuff is nothing but amusing at best, even if it were likely to be the case. Plus, if it really were to even be a possiblity, it would start with business/label/promoter deals rather than desires of any interested members, period! So a dream it was and could only be at that point. It would also be one of many a moment Blackmore would have to remove the foot out of his mouth to do, as prior press statements like ‘that was a weird line up he did not like’ to begin with would only puzzle all the more.
Glenn Hughes is so far beyond those two and a half years of his career it’s not even funny to think why do such a thing anyway. He has healed himself of all those conflicting wounds and gone on to blow away his talents displayed briefly in Deep Purple anyway. DC might on the other hand ponder it for opposite reasons, lol. (@Tracy, ‘the real Deep Purple’ -now I for once do detect your extreme sarcasm in the form of provocation, funny as it is, I hope someone calls you on it, for another even funnier laugh)
December 31st, 2011 at 22:17While I do agree Glenn’s role would be a different one, I do not agree David would cut it live on any level, so even if they cut a record, it still wouldn’t cut it live. If Ritchie didn’t approve of Gillan in 93/94, how would he David in recent years? He’s fine in the studio for the most part, but live, no_thanks! It wasn’t Deep Purple anymore than the haters think they are Deep Purple now, and that makes fair enough sense to me as the fact it looks to be, according to around here.
January 1st, 2012 at 22:39@15
No sarcasm expressed this time. The Real Deep Purple is the Present Deep Purple plain and simple. The trademark belongs to them and only them. Paicey has been the enduring member through all of its incarnations up through and including MK8. Each MK was THE REAL Deep Purple at the time. To claim they aren’t the real deal is ludicrous. Favorite line-up is a different issue. Real Line-up is who they are. The band has evolved throughout the years and was even disbanded for 8 years whereby ‘Rod Evens’ put a ‘Bogus Deep Purple’ band together in 1980 for a short-lived endeavor resulting in lawsuits.
Yes, Ian Paice is still the drummer for the Real Deep Purple, the greatest band in the world and as long as it is alive, I believe he will maintain his place there. He knows good music….Hell, he plays it.
Cheers
January 2nd, 2012 at 01:36A reunited Mark III would have recorded a new album before going on tour, I guess. The songs from “Burn” and some on “Stormbringer” together with new songs would have been great, that’s for sure. There are a lot of reasons why it doesn’t make sense to think about it, but one can dream of the sound. Another thing which goes through my head from time to time is Lord and Blackmore making music together again … that would be something.
January 2nd, 2012 at 22:21I read more than once about DC and RB going into a fight backstage but “scribbling notes on doors”?
Please enlight me. : )
I dont see a problem setlistwise.
An EXTENDED(like God intended it it !!!)Space Trucking without vocals, why not?
Hell, even Ian is not able to that song justrice anymore, so the more fun for us fans who LOVE MEANDERING IMPROVISATIONS by Lord and Blackmore.
Provide Paicey with an extra lunge and go for it.
I agree that DC is heading into better territorities musically lately.
About his live qualities “:
I feel he does his best to look the rockstarpart(Compared to some others who have fallen into GrandDadMode : ( and appreciate that.
With all that money it cant be such a problem to distinguish themselves a bit.
I heard youtubes by WHITESNAKE in Enschede and I must say…..It was not that bad as I expected.
But Like Ian he probably has better days and shit days.
I dont think Glen and david are polishing THAT turd too much.
MK III rocked and had lots of great songs.
Spice some of the Stormbringer album up a notch and it ll work out fine.
Maybe they can end with Coronarias Redig or A 200 extended to about 15 minutes ?
Throw in SON OF ALERIK and a long version of WHAT’S GOING ON HERE and I ll a very happy chappy : )
Yeah, yeah, hold your horses, I know it wont materialise.
In a perfect world RB would do things because so many of his fans want him to.
Maybe it’s utter bollocks and hypocritical but I DO smile when people like Geezer Butler answer questions (WHY DO YOU REUNITE?)with :
Because the kids still want it. : )
January 2nd, 2012 at 23:40Saw DC and the snakes in CPH in NOV. Yes the voice is not what it was, but neither is IG’s (natuarlly). DC and the band were absolutely fabolous even the hardest reviewers gave them 5 stars. No need for a reunion IMHO.
January 3rd, 2012 at 13:44Cheers
Please, be sincere: Does anyone here would attend to a Blackmore´s Night gig IF Ritchie wasn´t played on Deep Purple & Rainbow? Or in another way: Don´t you ever expect to see him pickin up his strato and play classic DP & Rainbow songs? Wonder if he was starting his career, have not done nothing before that. Come on…! Do you all know what´s this question about? Just doing what Ritchie´s himself asked us for: “Please, forget all I have done before, I didn´t like that. I like only what I´m doing now”.
January 3rd, 2012 at 16:41So, if you go see him and try to speak the words “Deep Purple” or “Rainbow” you really deserve the roadies throw you out!
If Ritchie has such a big problem with Deep Purple and Rainbow fans nowerdays, why does he still enjoy their money? Or why doesn´t he give all the money he still earns with them (which is still very much I´m sure) to charity? I really wonder…
January 4th, 2012 at 01:09And he’s right there.. there is only one planet!!
January 4th, 2012 at 15:25@21 I personally would not shout out requests at a BN show or any show for that matter when i am at a gig. I just listen to the show and take it all in! I get annoyed by all the shouting and raised hands holding up lighters etc. Put your arms down in the front please… people behind you came to see a show! When a song is finished is when i feel the shouting and raised hands are appropriate. Then again, i hope artists do not take a fan standing still as disinterest! Deep inside the emotions are welling up big time! Look at the front cover of Deep Purple Made in Europe, the fans are seated taking in the experience of a dynamic show… wish i was one of the people in the first few rows of that gig!
January 4th, 2012 at 18:02@ 24
Totally correct!!!
I know we are taling fantasy here but……
Lord, Paice and Blackmore with a lousy singer in the 80’s and 90’s were justified to call themselves Deep Purple, so…….why not now with DC has problems?
GILLAN now and then has and had problems, whats the duifference?!
Evenb if Paicey would not join, just Blackmore and Lord are worth the price of admission.
And if DC would take a good rest combined with not a long tour but just a few reunion gigs that might be a solution as well.
And for the naysayers( : ) ) If you have a problem with the word Deep Purple, well let it be called BURN or Stormbringer or……
Maybe DP can call themselves NOT RESPONSIBLE? : )
January 5th, 2012 at 15:32@22
Really??? Have you loved all of your previous jobs? When you left any of your previous jobs that you didn’t care for, did you give back all of your earnings? Apparently Purple was just a job for Mr. Tights. He earned his money and deserves his pay. His feelings regarding his time there are his feelings. He isn’t with Purple anymore. He is with BN. In his defense and with all due respects to the rest of the BN band, I respect his stand regarding the hecklers yelling for Purple songs at a BN gig. Though I would like to see those same folks at the Black Sabbath Reunion shows this year screaming for ‘Heaven and Hell’, ‘Mob Rules’, ‘Zero the Hero’ or ‘No Sranger to Love’……
Geez!!!
Cheers
January 8th, 2012 at 04:16@25
Or just change the name Blackmore’s Night to Deep Purple. According to you and a handful here, Ritchie is Deep Purple and Purple isn’t Purple without him. Therefore, just take all of your BN cds and cross out the band name with a Sharpie and write in Deep Purple and your prayers are answered. What’s the matter, you don’t like Blackmore’s last 7 BN/Purple albums?
There are 8 Deep Purples and MK8 is the Present and Only living Deep Purple. Sure, there could be a tribute to other MKs. That would be fine. But as long as the present Purple exists, anything else would be a Tribute. Sure, it would be great to see, but I sure don’t long for it.
cheers
January 8th, 2012 at 16:09@26
To add to my Sabbath remark, I just read that Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with Lymphoma. The work on the New Album is being moved to Europe where he resides and is receiving his treatment.
Good Luck Tony. GET WELL!!!!
Cheers
January 9th, 2012 at 16:34@ 26
I d call for ANGRY HEART : )
Oh no, impossible, OZZY cant sing other peoples repertoire.
Today I saw a DVD by ELO with a charityshowfrom 1978.
PUKE!!!!!I saw Sharon and her father at the beginning and the end!!!!!
January 10th, 2012 at 00:05@17 Sarcasm in the form of provocation, Tracy. Surprised no one even picked up on it, even after a post expression. Mk8 must be the real Deep Purple according to haters here now… not a word, nice for a change! 🙂
My original point was loud and clear, mkIII was no more DP looking back, than mk8 is today. In fact less if you ask my opinion, quite a bit removed from classic DP, as where mk8 are not, simply because they play mkII style music. Mk JLT wasn’t mkII style either, and you’ll never hear anyone say there is a more ideal Purple sound and style than mkII, so the more removed the worse. (no matter how good, it doesn’t make them Purple unless they make an effort to sound like the Purple known and loved) A guitar player has quite less to do with it than singers, let’s be honest, as they’re a dime a dozen to find compared to the right front man, as sad as that sounds to those stuck up Blackers bum that stupid way. He might be by and large the more recognized name in the bands history, but they have succeeded for years without him, and no more than 4 years put together without Gillan in the picture. So, as I’ve said before, they could have tiny f’ing Tim, as long as Gillan is up front they have the confidence, ambition and courage to pull off Purple greatness.
@29 -he clearly wasn’t talking to you…. @22 it was… obstain, will you ever???? 🙂 Keep a better home, it also keeps the spirit up… oops, blasphemic, I know!
January 14th, 2012 at 10:46You can rant as long as you want but DP is Blackmore, Lord and Paice .
A band that is alive does progress, records albums, surprises with a different approach every night.
“Succeeding” is a bit weird.
No albums, mainly MK 2 stuff live.
I think the times have changed.
Appearantly loads of people are more consumers than musiclovers compared to the 70’s.
If DP today would appear in 1973 they would have been boeed off the stage.
Tracy not talking to me?
Hell, he’s talking to me all the time ! : )
What is it to you?
January 15th, 2012 at 11:32Dont think Tracy minds.
Priest@31….
Really? Booed off stage? I doubt it. These guys are playing fine as hell and I would have loved to see them in ’73. As I stated elsewhere, I saw Purple in 1974 at the Orange Bowl in Miami and sorry to say, but they were blown away by the likes of the J. Giles band. The crowd was truly bored with Purple. I wish there was a ‘Live’ Bootleg of that show, just so I could relive it and see if I remember it correctly. ‘Spirit’ was much more well received also. Even ‘ELF’ (whom nobody heard of) got a better response. Being at that show and seeing them today trust me; they would have gotten a far better response than our MK3 predecessors. By all means if ANYBODY has a recording of DEEP PURPLE at the Orange Bowl in Miami from 1974 PLEASE CONTACT ME!!! I don’t think it exists.
@29…..That’s why I’d rather a New singer would take the Sabbath spot instead of OZZY (I’M AVAILABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). That way we could get the Full Sabbath gambit, which is my ONLY negative opinion towards Purple’s frontman. Yeah, I know there are the hardcore Ozzy/Sabbath fans whom think HE is the only REAL Sabbath singer and can’t wait to hear him sing all of those OLD tunes again, just as the Blackmore/Purple fans feel that way about Purple. But being around as long as I have, and seeing pretty much All of the line-ups of both bands, I have a longing for hearing ALL eras represented at their ‘Live’ shows as it should be…..
Oh and LRT@30, thanks for playing ‘Hall Monitor’ but, it’s OK. Priest was just interjecting some good additional points. Hell, at least it wasn’t Blackmore related or Morse bashing. He finally makes a nice remark without slamming Purple in some way and you nail him to the cross…….Jeez.
Cheers
January 17th, 2012 at 02:50I first thought you meant 1975 instead of 1974 so I tried to google dates but appearantly you are talking about Mark 4…..
On the same DIO dates information I saw 2 dates for DP MK 3 in Amsterdam.
That´s probably a widespread-repeated mistake.
They NEVER played with MK 3 or 4 in The Netherlands.
MK 3 did gig in Belgium and probably were on a flying visit to Amsterdam for a press conference.
I dont know or remember TRAPEZE gigging overhere.
January 20th, 2012 at 13:59I m afraid that Glenn´s real first show, with MK 3 and 4 material, was in Leidschendam, 1994.
An open air festival where they took , unexpectedly the headlining slot of, of all ….bands, The Damned.
Oh, and btw, TRAPEze did gig overhere.
Paradiso, Amsterdam, 1972.
Unfortunately he never repeated that later on.
On the other hand, Lord, Paice, Coverdale and Glover as well never got around to that again.
They should, Gillan and Blackmore DID.
January 20th, 2012 at 14:31Naieve to think I could do a better search I went out to look for this Miami gig.
As expected as yet I did not have the luck to find it but found this one :

January 20th, 2012 at 14:37Priest I am truly surprised and even somewhat hurt (OK, not really hurt) but definitely disappointed. Not only at you being totally wrong about the MK3 existence period, but the fact that you are questioning my statement about something that I actually experienced. The date of the show was August 24th, 1974. Two days before my birthday. They performed nothing from ‘Stormbringer’ because it wasn’t released until December. I kept the set list in my archives:
Burn
Might Just Take Your Life
Lay Down Stay Down
Mistreated
Smoke on the Water
Space Truckin’
(Encore)
Going Down/Highway Star
Here is a site that pretty much shows all of the past tour dates and venues….
http://www.deeppurpleliveindex.com/onthebill.php
As for being confused with MK4….Really? Dude, I saw them too. February 8th, 1976 at the ‘Miami Jai-Alai-Fronton’. Nazareth opened. MK3 was in existence and toured from late 1973 up through April of 1975. MK4 soon came into existence and put out CTTB and toured up and into March of 1976, and then Bolin died. There is a really good quality bootleg from the MK4 in Miami gig I attended. Without a doubt, the best performance from that line-up. Wish I could find a recording of the MK3 at the Miami Orange Bowl show. It obviously doesn’t exist or it would have surfaced by now.
Cheers
January 21st, 2012 at 03:24Mainly because of your mentioning of MIAMI it did confuse me a bit.
You always tell us Miami with Bolin was good and that we shhould listen.
I DID!!!
Still, I can’t picture that having been better than MK 3 the year before.
That’s all.
And you should not take things that personal, man.
After all, we ‘re in some way “Perfect Strangers” or passing ships in the night, not having a real clue who the other guy is in his lday to day ife.
We act like cartooncharacters raging on the Net and after all that time we still don’t really know what the other one is about.
January 23rd, 2012 at 23:49Just look at the set list. That should say it all. The MK4 show was 2 years later, not 1. They played twice as long, twice as many songs and had songs from Burn, Stormbringer and CTTB included plus the MK2 classics of course. The MK3 gig at the Orange Bowl was all of 7 songs, half from Burn and the rest the same MK2 classics. Ritchie put the crowd to sleep with a long noodling extended intro to Mistreated. I’ll have to dig up a bootleg from a gig around the same time period and take a listen to see if it is the same. Those shows were all similar I’m sure on that tour.
Hey don’t take it so badly man. We are like brothers whom were separated at birth and sent to distant lands. Drawn together by this great band and enjoying a little sibling rivalry on the internet….
Cheers to you, my younger Purple Brother from another Mother.
January 28th, 2012 at 16:08” 38
Watched Uncle Ted´s ROCKPALAST 1976 gig.
Lots of long extended noodling.
I LOVE IT!!!!
It makes me so very happy.
Do you still love HIBERNATION)like me’or do you go too the loo when is noodling, perhaps.
February 2nd, 2012 at 12:14@39
Was it a DVD? Ted is great. I’ve seen him a few times now. A little rough around the edges but all in all, pure raw Rock & Roll. Plus like me, he kills and grills his own food. Perfect comb. Carrying a Bow and Arrow in the woods, hunting dinner by day, and then carrying an Electric Guitar by night crankin’ out ear blowing riffs. It doesn’t get more Rock & Roll than that? As a matter of fact ‘it’s perfect’.
The long ‘noodling’ has its place. There are masters at it. There are those whom you expect it from. There are those whom built their careers on it. When I go to a concert, I take it serious. I want to see and hear it all. I love long ‘good’ instrumental improvisations. At the time I saw Purple at the Miami Orange Bowl in 1974, I was 2 days from hitting 18 years of age (legal drinking age then), and had just graduated from High School, watching my absolute favorite band LIVE. I was in absolute heaven and in total amazement. I had already been a fan for 5 years and this was their 3rd line-up. I loved it and even though Ritchie was my favorite guitarist and I was enthralled by his playing and improvisation, his extremely long extended ‘doodling’ intro to Mistreated was a fine piece of work that I personally enjoyed, but it went over like a ‘fart in church’ with the crowd. It was a very light, mild and intricate bit that went on for at least 5 minutes. The crowd wanted nothing of it. They began whistling, yelling out “Come On!”! You could see TMIB getting peeved about it. The crowd was at a ROCK FEST and that’s what they wanted. He actually stopped and looked up at the crowd and smeared. They went wild and he then continued on for a bit just to rub it in a little further. As the crowd got louder and more heckling progressed, I really thought he was going to walk off stage. But then came the cords to Mistreated and all was well. Man I wish I had a recording of that show, even better a video.
Cheers
February 3rd, 2012 at 03:38I used to like Ted but quit listening to him decades ago. Anyone with a mouth that big who acts like he loves his country and is a draft dodger makes me ill. What a hypocrite.
http://www.havocrex.com/press/article/1/15
5. Q: Ted Nugent Served in Vietnam? A: False. For all his right wing rhetoric and tough talk during the Gulf War, Terrible Ted was a yellow-livered draft dodger. In fact Ted went to great lengths to fail his army physical. He fasted for a week and drank pot after pot of coffee to drive up his blood pressure. He didn’t bathe for weeks and showed up with a turd in his pants and another in his hair. Uncle Sam found Ted unfit for military service. Wouldn’t have been a cryin’ shame if that incredibly talented rocker had died in battle? I think Ted knew that the future of rock depended on him and Vietnam was just too big a risk to take.

6. From Wikpedia
According to a July 15, 1990 interview for the Detroit Free Press, Nugent described how he avoided the draft during the Vietnam War: He claims that 30 days before his Draft Board Physical, he stopped all forms of personal hygiene. The last ten days he ingested nothing but junk food and Pepsi, and a week before his physical he stopped using the bathroom altogether, virtually living inside pants caked with excrement and stained by his urine. That spectacle won Nugent a deferment, he says. His quote: “ but if I would have gone over there, I’d have been killed, or I’d have killed, , or I’d have killed all the Hippies in the foxholes… I would have killed everybody.”
I remember reading this in the 70’s when ‘High Times ‘ magazine interviewed him.
February 3rd, 2012 at 18:02And this guy knows what Ted is!

February 3rd, 2012 at 18:29I wish I had been there.
One would think that in 1974 people could have known what Deep Purple, Blackmore and versatility meant?
The “Nuge” DVD is something I lifted from a torrent or YouTube somewhere.
I burned it on a rewritable because I lost too many recordables on “downloads with hick-ups”.
At the same time I , after finally buying the RW discs, bought myself a very cheap Polaroid(….) DVD player with USB utility.
I m able to load the downloads on the USB and first test the download.
This must be practise for many people by now and much earlier than I did.
Yeah, brings back the debate about the “criminality” of downloading, but…….
Although I d love to buy all that stuff I m just not able to, so……..
I only recently started to use a torrentprogramme.
A real “non problem”now is that both my drives are now full.
A friend of mine replied with : Just buy yourself another extra drive.
Well,……
Where’s the end?
I ll have to cut off precious “load”, probably.
Again, it’s a non-issue actually because I am aware of the fact that most of the stuff I gathered just got stashed away instead of “used”.
Btw, I d happy enough to have those 15 minutes , beginning with Ritchie’s pearls for swines : ) intro and into the end of Mistreated.
But one never knows what will appear.
Maybe even at the time I m about 90 years of age…….
I m not sure if this is, like the Rainbow in Munich/RockPalast, officially released on DVD.
I wonder if Nugent was part of a festival or something.
Somehow the Rainbow show seems to have been done with much more capital.
Could he be Ted was a supportact way back?
I doubt it, but I might be wrong.
The lighning et all of his show seems a lot more “basic” than the Rainbow one.
Yeah, living in surroundings like that and at the same time being aple to play great rockmusic must be very uplifting.

Sorry dude but though there are many different views regarding the Viet Namm War, one of them is a sure thing….It was senseless to begin with, and in the end we didn’t even go in it to win it.
I was 18 and on the verge of being drafted, but thankfully ‘Tricky Dick Nixon’ pulled the plug on the war and I didn’t have to go. I had no interest in joining the military voluntarily and I sure as hell wasn’t looking forward to being drafted. Though I would have gone and fought, it would only be due to not having the balls to run to Canada or do what Ted did. The late 60’s and early 70’s was a weird time to say the least. Ted was an aspiring major rock star at the time. He had a lot to lose. Most of us regular folk didn’t, so you just went. Just because he got out of being drafted doesn’t mean he isn’t a caring patriot. He didn’t do any protesting and ‘flag degradation’ as those whom still to this day do when our country goes to war. He just didn’t wish to partake in that terribly botched, unnecessary war that is the Only war we actually lost and is a permanent scar for those whom actually did go. That was a long time ago and his actions since prove he is a patriot whom stands strong for this country, it’s military and especially the 2nd Amendment which protects our right to bear arms. He has done much since his draft dodging to show his support for those that went then and do now. Yeah, he’s a loud mouthed arrogant strong willed bad ass that still rocks with the best of them. He stands behind those that serve and he stands for the freedom for those whom don’t wish to serve. But he doesn’t trash the military and trash our country for going to war and kicking the bad guy’s asses. He supports it and gets a lot of flak for it. I’d say what he does today regarding his support for the troops and the 2nd Amendment and the records and concerts he has given his fans is much more worthy and outweighs anything he could have accomplished by going to Viet Namm. Nothing good came from that except a black eye for the US and a bunch of dead soldiers and mistreated surviving ones that to this day still ask ” WHY?”
Ted ain’t no ‘Hanoi Jane’…..on the contrary.
Keep up the good work ‘Uncle Ted’.
Cheers
February 4th, 2012 at 16:53I hope no one got their feelings hurt about ted. Just thought i’d shed some light on the guy cause i just saw him on VH1 Behind the Music the other day. Last album of his i bought was ‘Dbl. Live Gonzo’ which was actually good. After that the albums (and the album covers) were lame. I wonder if Ted has actually ever been in a fight? Can he back up that talk? i wonder…..?
February 4th, 2012 at 17:47You make some good points Tracy. I too thought i might have to go but we pulled out before i turned 18. But your statement: (He had a lot to lose. Most of us regular folk didn’t, so you just went.)?!
February 6th, 2012 at 16:53All the soldiers that went had a lot to lose… their ‘lives’! And many did. It was a war we should never have got involved with that is for sure.
On a side note, Ted played one of the casinos here a few years back. Some co -workers went and i asked them how the show was. i said ‘how was the nugent show?’ All they remembered about it was ted insulting the F… the president,F… governor Schwartzeneger, F… hillary clinton,(ok, she might deserve it) saying to the crowd ” they can suck my machine gun”! Classic Ted.
@46:
I’m not saying his life was more valuable than anyone else’s, I’m just saying in his particular case and where his head and personal regards were at the time, he found it worth going to the extreme effort that he went, whereby us regular folk would have just gone and done what was ordered. That’s what makes great men. Extreme decisions and actions. That’s why Ted is Ted and you and I are who we are…..
God Bless the Teds.
That ‘F…’ list of his was right on. Nothing else can truly be said about them more clearly. Funny how it’s OK for a guy like ‘Bill Maher’ (a typical left wing liberal and majority in the entertainment society) berate and absolutely defile any conservative and isn’t ridiculed for his extreme expression, but let one of the few conservatives in that same society say something against a typical left wing liberal, he is immediately confronted and regarded extremely radical.
Cheers
February 7th, 2012 at 03:43I suppose in America one had to be more clever to get out of the army.
I tried the same thing overhere, but that was not because of a war.
I just felt, at the time that was, I would WASTE my precious time over there.
I only heard about being bored all day and learning to become an alcoholic while being in the service.
I just, after a mountain of trouble, had gotten my diploma to get into University.
And wasn’t keen on the idea I d lose the “momentum” by quitting for such a long time.
I still feel that getting enlisted only worked beneficiairy for myself(I have trouble feeling like a patriot) if they would offer me an officerscourse,.
That was ofcourse not the case(I think one needed Math in one’s diploma).
But, I often thought in retroperspective, that I still might have had some use would I have done that.
The first 19 years of my life I HATED sports.
But around 1985 the “bug” truly got to me though and I even wondered if I could have been “commando-material”.
I guess not, being such an anti authority person in essence.
But the PHYSICAL endurances which would have come out of such a thing really appealed to me.
In 1985 The DUTCH 11 cities tour on ice outside in Friesland was broadcasted live.
I think that also spurred me on to go for the max myself.
Yesterday, after a lot of National upheaval the tour was being cancelled for this year and this country appearntly fell in a big depression.
I know that dissappointment can, amongst other things, cause depression, but sometimes I m appalled by the fact that the word is used so quickly.
By now it has finally occurred to me that I underestimated adventures like “De ElfstedenTocht”but sometimes I still dream of doing it(….)
February 9th, 2012 at 13:19Being in the United States Armed Forces is quite an honorary position to hold. The United States Soldier is responsible for freeing and liberating more countries and nations than any other faction on this planet. With all due respects, pretty much every free democracy in today’s life has the American Patriot to thanks for their involvement and efforts and spilled blood in the process of their sacrifice. I have not served myself (unless you count my being a firefighter for 25 years), but I do honor those whom have and give thanks for their dedication and perseverance toward helping the progress toward world liberty and freedom. Especially their fight toward the safety of this great land I am blessed to say that I am a Citizen of.
Cheers
