Is it worth listening or is it the usual moan?
December 16th, 2011 at 09:09Thank you! I’ve listened with pleasure.
December 16th, 2011 at 09:45A short yet sweet interview that didn’t uncover anything new. Oddly enough though he confirmed my statement elsewhere when asked what effort outside Purple was most memorable and impactive to him….”JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR”. I’d have to agree. I believe that he still harbors an amount of personal dissatisfaction for not taking that effort further. I for one would have loved to see it. Woulda, shoulda, coulda. Ironic that “HALLELUJAH” was the first recording Gillan made with Purple, actually prior to being an official member back in 1969. Probably was how he was chosen for the role of ‘Jesus Christ’ in Superstar. He was a natural for this.
Cheers
December 16th, 2011 at 19:51Essentially it’s the same humbug.
And gain, not positive regarding a new album.
I listened the whole way through.
December 16th, 2011 at 20:40That’s a big trouble I took.
Man, Southern European languages make me so very tired.
Can’t they take a lower pace or something?
They always sound like suffering from ADHD.
The question about the advise for young people to become singers was a good one. As always throughout 2011 the “new album question” turned up and was answered with the usual “we’ll see”, “no plans”, “perhaps next year”. He can’t hear it anymore but was pleasant.

Not only was the question good, but Gillan’s answer was spot on. His answer on the new Album question seems to be a continuation of his lack of enthusiasm regarding one. Those in the band whom are positive about it shouldn’t wait. Might be time for a cu to orchestrate some sessions on their own with effort towards pressuring the slacker. This approach may be just what the doctor ordered resulting in some aggressive influence from the ‘New Old Boys’. I truly believe this next effort will result in a much heavier instrumentally focused album. It should. This album really should spotlight the keys, guitar and rhythm section. The tour supporting the album should emphasize that standpoint. Plenty of jamming and Gillan gets some well-deserved breathers….

December 21st, 2011 at 16:06To Tracy: It was ‘Child In Time’ that Andrew Lloyd Webber took note of, and motivated him to recruit Gillan for “Jesus Christ Superstar.” On a separate note, Ian has said Purple is definitely going to be putting an album out within the next year – no ifs, ands or buts, it’s coming out.
December 22nd, 2011 at 03:11@7 James Gemmell:
Yes I do seem to remember the ‘Child in Time’ being the song that stirred Webber’s attention toward Gillan, but again I still can’t help but connect his first recording with Purple to JCS in a spiritual way just as CIT was a spiritual song. He was a natural for that recording. I remember how disappointed I was when I learned he wasn’t in the Movie.
As for the New Album, I do feel they will make one for 2012, but there is NO Definite statement from him regarding such. If you have heard or seen something from him taking that stance, please give your reference. This interview is the latest from him I’m aware of, and as with others he has done, he isn’t very positive here….
Cheers
December 22nd, 2011 at 16:30Yesterday I ve read, well it was in a bookstore, in RECORD COLLECTOR 2 interviews with Airey and Gillan.
While I was in a haste to get out of the way to overcrowded city doing it’s , NO CRISIS HERE , x mas shoppings I rushed through them, so……maybe for a full read later.
Gillan sort of talked in the same manner, well quite literally I ‘d say, about the “new album”.
He also talked about a political thriller called……I forgot, sorry.
What about WESSEX?
Did that ever appear?
I suppose his study concerning science, theology et all that……was not saying he is going to get a degree on that.

Seems like you put the Blog before the Point….
Get back to us when you actually read the article.

December 30th, 2011 at 15:40Gillan is a friend of Medwedew. How can a writer of songs with freedom-messages help a puppet of putin, who is no friend of democratie and freedom of the press?

Ask Larry
He seems to know.
