Mother’s Army reissue

Mother’s Army — The Complete Discography cover art

Back in 1990s Joe Lynn Turner was a member of project called Mother’s Army. Jeff Watson was playing guitar, Bob Daisley was on the bass and Carmine Appice on drums, later replaced by Aynsley Dunbar. The band managed to put out 3 albums: self titled (1993), Planet Earth (1997) and Fire On The Moon (1998), all of which were now only available as expensive Japanese imports, or so we’re told.

In early May Edel/earMUSIC without much fanfare reissued the three albums in one package called Mother’s Army — The Complete Discography. These appear to be straight reissues, no bonus tracks or anything, but at €15/£12 it might be worth picking up if that’s your thing.

A lot of which many would describe filler but it had/has also a lot of great tracks.

I wish OTR had made a record or a DVD for the great times we had live with them. : (

    – you guys need to check the statements jlt did in an interview in april. from what he says, i understood that otr’s “on ice” – if there’s a promoter, and/or public interrest, it could very well be put together again. here’s a link:

Thanx for the link to this article.

But……In the end the author draws the conclusion its hihly unlikely JLT will start OTR again : (

    The Holy Chair says:

Btw, ” Winning” , the mentioned album from Jurge and friends is a great rockalbum.

Unlikely that Joe did not hear the album since it was released last year.

As usual “strange things” are going on behind the scenes.

Tracy Heyder (aka Zero the Hero) says:

Well our ‘humble’ JLT makes it clear and adamantly states OTR was HIS project. Then in that case, it’s success or in this case failure was HIS responsibility. Well, if he ever does find the time to resurrect this Tribute Band, for his sake, I hope he does so by FIRST working on an Original Album with the band.

If you all wish to hear a Bang Up effort, purchase the Demons Eye CD- ‘Stranger Within’, with Doogie White fronting. Full bore ‘Purple and related’ sound yet they stand out on their own also. This Purple Tribute band stepped out of the box and put forth a jam-up album that really rocks and belongs in the Purple Connection. I have been listening to it over and over. For those whom miss Rainbow and are impatiently waiting for the next Purple Album, GET THIS!! It pacifies and satisfies the palot. OTR WHO????

    Cheers

Always thought an album should be with originals, not like the DE effort, how heartwarming their intentions may be, which is filled to the rafters with OLD work from the Maestro.

Not to mention that his voice disturbs me as much as Glenn’s overboard parts and the misplaced and monotoneus parts and sound of the PlainMan.

Oh, my God, I forgot, I m too young to understand thing Purple.

Tracy Heyder (aka Zero the Hero) says:

Holy Crap!!! You have finally outdone yourself. You have really imbedded here just how biased you can be with absolute denial toward being so. Too young??? Dude, you are the oldest codger here in regards to being set in your ways as an old rotting pine tree.

    Cheers or in your case….Grumps.
