    I was only listening to this album last week , it’s literally Jaw Dropping, absolutely stunning …I really, really think that this album is his best vocal performance…ever !
    In fact, it has to be one of the best performances by any vocalist on any piece .
    I know Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber were blown away by it ( they heard Child in Time and that’s what drew their attention to Ian )

    And of course she’s perfectly right, Gillan’s version is the most emotionally gripping one. Big Ian was an agnostic even back then, but he captured rage, tranquility, despair and tenderness in his vocal depiction of Jesus like no other.
