Vinyl and more vinyl
Rhino Entertainment in the US will be re-releasing a number of their back catalogue items on vinyl as part of their Rocktober event. The following items could be of particular interest for our pages.
Available October 4
- Deep Purple — Machine Head
1-LP on Black vinyl - IOMMI — The 1996 Dep Sessions
1-LP on Translucent Black Ice vinyl - Whitesnake — Northwinds
1-LP on Black Ice vinyl - Whitesnake — White Snake
1-LP on Translucent Tan vinyl
These releases are said to be available exclusively at select brick-and-mortar retail stores while supplies last. However, The Dep Sessions pre-orders are also available through the Black Sabbath online store.
There is no word on what mix/master Machine Head release is sourced from. Coverdale’s solo albums are apparently being filed under the Whitesnake moniker for reasons. They will be available on CD later in October as a part of the box set.
We need Abandon on Vinyl!!!! Maybe just me 😂
September 25th, 2024 at 19:35I saw Abandon on vinyl this summer in one country store. Costed some 80 euros.
September 25th, 2024 at 19:58One of my favorite albums. Too uderrated
Will there be a vinyl release of Come Hell or High Water ???
September 25th, 2024 at 20:03Abandon (or A Band On) and Bananas.
PLEEEEASE!!!!!!!
lol.
September 25th, 2024 at 21:28Just finished listening to it twice. First half is pretty much perfect. Saw them twice on this tour (as I did on the ‘Purpendicular’ tour) and managed to get back stage and took a couple of pics of my heroes (after smuggling in my camera down the front of my jeans – figured security weren’t about to check there!).
September 26th, 2024 at 11:47Do we really need another “Machine Head” reissue?
Instead reissue/release “Bananas” and “Abandon” on vinyl instead on the coming Record Store Day.

Well, vinyl doesn’t really last! 😁
September 26th, 2024 at 18:19So there’s this new release by DC’s Whitesnake:

However, I dedicate this very special version to our good friend Uwe:

September 27th, 2024 at 00:55Thanks John, much appreciated. The new string arrangement is beautiful and it’s my favorite DC composition.
The vid is a bit unsettling though. A vintage DC singing with what is obviously a young man’s voice, it feels and looks weird. I think the visual impact would have been more coherent if they had either presented an AI/graphic novel version of DC as a young man singing it or if he had done a new take with his now voice, different key, gravelly, notes breaking off and all. But maybe, at this point and lamentably so, his voice/health doesn’t even allow him to do that anymore.
Anyway, great song. Geddy Lee should have left it well alone in that second version though. 😎
