Still burning at midnight
A “25th anniversary” (23rd in actual years) edition of the third Blackmore’s Night album Fires At Midnight will be released on September 27, 2024, via Edel/earMusic. The album will be fully remixed from the original multitrack masters, and will include all bonus tracks from previous editions, plus new versions of Written In The Stars and the title track, with new vocals recorded by Candice Night in 2024.
The first single is available now — the new vocals version of Written In The Stars:
Thanks to BraveWords for the info.

I won’t ask the obvious question why the third album gets rereleased before the sophomore effort or did I miss something?
Candice voice has become more husky and gained timbre – as you would expect, she sang the original when she was 30 years old.

Autumn is by now a 14-year-old teenager and likely bugging her parents with requests for tickets to Taylor’s The Eras Tour! 😁 Rory is 12 and probably in the process of discovering Slipknot. 😂
July 11th, 2024 at 23:43Ritchie in one of those moods. It sort of looks like, ‘what do you mean you get 50% of the songwriting royalties’?’ Or it could be one of those “either he goes or I go, ok”?

July 12th, 2024 at 06:51Good stuff. One of generally better and artistically more expressive BN’s albums. Candice’s new vocals sound better, too, with a more elaborate technique and a deeper timbre.
July 12th, 2024 at 13:51When I read about the anniversaries of Blackmore’s Night albums it makes me strange to think that it’s been 25 years since FAM while when it came out, only 15 years had passed since Perfect Strangers….and that when PS came out, Deep had only disbanded 8 years ago. years and it seemed like an eternity at that time!
in any case, the first three BN albums were really interesting and I loved Ritchie’s renaissance turn, I saw him 3 times in concert (the first at the Vigevano castle in 1999) they were incredible…. then all in all, what he had he had already written it, and the following albums were a repetition of the first three (in my opinion of course)
July 13th, 2024 at 11:00Blackmore’s Night is confined in its musical approach much like a very traditional Country & Western band is – folk music, no matter where it is from, has the tendency to grow repetitive quickly. I guess that is its nature and makes it so relatable.
Unless you bring in new elements like Miley’s dad did here, especially in the coda (around 03:20), now haven’t we heard that voice somewhere before?

But I’m not holding my breath for a Blackmore’s Night ballad with someone rapping over it anytime soon.
July 13th, 2024 at 13:01@5: I thought Glenn sang “Kill the king” there at the end. That had been too much wrinkles in the DP web for me.
July 13th, 2024 at 13:44Glenn can release his inner Southern Redneck when called, all that Texas touring as Trapeze together with ZZ Top in the early 70ies wasn’t for nothing …

With the right baseball shirt and his 80ies beard and girth, he would have done fine with Molly Hatchet! 😂

July 14th, 2024 at 01:40Uwe, I seem to remember Glenn saying he was ashamed of that release … well … I enjoy it.
July 17th, 2024 at 07:45I know he did and that they paid him in coke (not the bubbly kind either!) and McDonalds meals. And timing-wise, the playing on the album is not all that accurate either, the tinkling piano tends to be all over. But still … it has something.
But then I’m the guy who liked even the über-cheesy Four On The Floor. 🤣🙃😳
July 17th, 2024 at 16:48Más de lo mismo…bla bla blay y pensar q Blackmore se fue de DP tras Storbringer por q el grupo se había “ablandado”
