Flying in ever rising circles
Steve Morse, together with his son Kevin, has paid tribute to his friend and aerobatics instructor Nikolay Timofeev, who recently passed away.
In other Morse news, Guitar Techniques magazine issue for January 2024 has a feature on Steve’s version of Joy to the World recorded in 1998 for the Merry Axemas holiday compilation album. The article includes three pages of scores with notes.
Steve’s Christmas songs are amazing-

That was a nice tribute for a friend, thanks for posting. Cheers.

Good multiple post !
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Steve & family !
Peace !
December 14th, 2023 at 22:57That was moving about the man. Were those Nikolay’s ashes being dispersed in the final flight scenes?
Kevin’s fingers are longer than dad’s – all that protein-rich nourishment of today’s generation! And they incorporated Swan Lake in their musical tribute – Ritchie would have approved and could have even joined in.
A lot of those Windham Hill releases are really nice if slightly esoteric-ambient instrumental guitar music is your thing.
December 15th, 2023 at 13:27Yes I have always really enjoyed Steve Morse & his acoustic guitar interpretations etc. Very melodic & that aspect of his playing is grand. His son, yes that was good to see & hear. A chip off the ‘old’ block & why not. Cheers.
