Powered by 40 fingers
Here’s a rendition of Highway Star like you’ve probably never heard before. Arranged for 4 acoustic guitars and played by the outfit known as 40 Fingers.
Arrangement: Andrea Vittori
The 40 Fingers are: Matteo Brenci – Emanuele Grafitti – Enrico Maria Milanesi – Andrea Vittori
Thanks to Laughing Squid for the heads-up.
Perhaps I realized for the first time, how great this song really is. I would have loved it at once, even if I didn’t know the original version. What a wonderful piece of music. And not to forget: Great musicians these 40 Fingers.

October 15th, 2023 at 00:17This take on HS is really good !
This is really well done. I love that they include the organ solo, and slow down the guitar solo (at first) to bring out the harmony.
October 15th, 2023 at 03:03Absolutelly stunning!
October 15th, 2023 at 06:58Great well done guys, on the other hand try Smoke on the water
October 15th, 2023 at 07:50Peace ✌️
That is so cool!! I really enjoyed that 🙂
October 15th, 2023 at 12:26I don’t like it..
October 15th, 2023 at 12:57Superb, but there was hard work to transpond THE MUSIC, which was originally performed only by 20 fingers an one throat. It needed double amount of fingers! 🙂
October 15th, 2023 at 14:16… an´more PURPLE, forties, more PURPLE, please!!!
October 15th, 2023 at 14:17Fantastic !
All the Blues of my Sunday evening was blowed straight away ! Gone !

Awesome band.
Be Well and safe everyone !

October 15th, 2023 at 15:46That’s great. I need to make myself a Collection of versions like this for a change of pace. And without any research I wonder if he always wears the headpiece or if it was a nod to Roger since he is on the left…..
October 15th, 2023 at 16:06There is nothing like Italian folk music. Bellisima!
Love the way they slow down in the middle and then pick up speed again.
October 15th, 2023 at 21:43Great stuff !
Easy to see how the music of DP will live on for a long, long time !
Peace !
October 15th, 2023 at 22:31Nope, he wears it often.
October 15th, 2023 at 23:41Absolutely Perfect… Respect!!!
October 16th, 2023 at 07:52Brilliant! Loved it.
October 16th, 2023 at 08:20I was so impressed I had to forward it to the minstrel’s castle. They said it has been watched and approved.
October 16th, 2023 at 16:06Superb! Jon and Ritchie would certainly approve of how their solos were transcribed into a different arrangement, but in a way that still honors the original. And if there was any doubt which is better musically, Smoke on the Water or Highway Star, this absolutely clinches it for me. Give me Highway Star every day and twice on Sundays. Would love to hear more DP from these guys.
October 17th, 2023 at 00:18The Italian guitar quartet is a frequent guest in Croatia (we are neighbors 🙂 ) this year
October 17th, 2023 at 07:50they performed in June, also on November 7, they perform in Zagreb, also Belgrade – Serbia day after
I know about their crossovers, I didn’t witness their concerts … but this touch of DP makes me want to go on a long journey.
40 Fingers with his HS, a hit in the heart of DP, Lord’s – Ritchie’s solo, interesting Ritchie’s part (he again !!) initial slow blues to temperamental flamenco. Really exciting! I also like their version of ABBA “Mamma Mia”
It is good to hear an acoustic interpretation of a classic ‘modern’ piece. Well done chaps. Cheers.
October 17th, 2023 at 09:48Brutal………thats terrible!
October 17th, 2023 at 12:07I’ve wanted to hear Rodrigo y Gabriela or Apocolyptica do a Deep Purple song for quite some time. I guess this comes close enough.
October 18th, 2023 at 02:55Fun, but not a patch on Saffire’s 4 classical guitar version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koZBIdlKoRQ
October 24th, 2023 at 02:01I’d say both adaptions have their merits, Leon, thanks for posting!
