Baby Please Don’t Go

Alice Cooper released a new album called Road on August 25. Bob Ezrin produced the album (him and Alice go waaay back) and our own Roger Glover was a guest musician on the album, playing bass on one track Baby Please Don’t Go.

This is not the first time Roger guests on Alices’s album.

Thanks to Karl-Heinz “Kalle” Baier for the heads-up and to Gregster for release date correction.

It’s a good album too, but then I’m partial to Auntie Alice. Have all his albums and there are only a few duff ones.

Bob Ezrin is to Alice Cooper what Bernie Taupin is to Elton John. It’s just not the same (or as good) without him.

Before I converted to Deep Purple, my place of worship was the cathedral of Alice.

    Yo,

I’m pretty sure that there’s an error in the title, as the official release date of Alice Cooper’s new album “Road” was 25th August, 2023, not April, though talk was already happening about it…

Awesome to have RG on Alice’s 29th studio effort, & it should be a pretty-good effort as the 2 x singles already released suggest. The last studio effort “Detroit Stories” was most excellent.

    Peace !

Kalle was probably just entranced with the sleeve of the third Mk III album when he gave that info …

No, I will not divulge what it was the German TV producers were taking at the time! But then .. given the elapsed statute of limitations … ok, my money is on wild mushrooms.

That April clip is as surreal and dadaist as anything Auntie Alice has ever done, eat your heart out Vincent!

Make “third Mk III album” (we’re still waiting for that one!) “third Mk I album”, it does make more sense then! ; – )

Saw Alice with AC/DC many years ago- Welcome to My
Nightmare – It was a strange show – the music was awesome
Ac/DC opened – knew they were on the way up!
    Know Rodger will rock this!

@4 They ought to consider a fourth Mark I album, if they can find Rod Evans. Gillan’s a huge fan of that first incarnation of Purple. He and Evans could do some duets. Have Glover and Simper trade off on some of the tunes. Ha.

I know it was lamentably the first album after the disbandment of the great and underrated original Alice Cooper Group, but Welcome To My Nightmare (both song and album) is an iconic piece of work in his canon!

And what‘s wrong with old Neil anyway, love his voice …

Even Ritchie likes him, so there!

” Welcome to My Nightmare”(1975) is absolutely brilliant album by AC and his closest collaborators: Bob Erzin and Dick Wagner on guitar , together from Lou Reed’s ex band, in the first row guitarist Steve Hunter session player exciting together Dick Wagnerom intro in the live song “Sweet Jane” live album Rock ‘n’ Roll Animal, don’t forget, of course great play John Prakash on bass by ‘Toronto sound’.
Most rock year 1975 when epic albums were : Pink Floyd” I Wish You Were Here”,Led Zeppelin “Physical Graffiti”, Kiss “Alive”,Queen ” A Night At The Opera”..of course the first album Rainbow (revealing RJD). Yes … and Vincent Price I love his monologue in my favorite song “The Black Widow”. Yesterday I listened to “Welcome to My Nightmare” after a long long time, album is still fresh even after almost half a century.

    @8…

People that liked the Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd will relish in the first couple of Alice Cooper albums, ( produced by Frank Zappa’s Bizzare Records )…In fact, I’d go as far as saying that “Pretties for You” & “East Action” are a lot more cohesive, & better organized recordings than “Piper at the Gates of Dawn” could ever hope to be…Give them a spin !!!

The original Alice Cooper Band was very well disciplined, & the music was very-well arranged & carefully thought-out imo. And the music rocked from start to finish. I suggest this makes all the albums concept-albums. For sure everyone loves “Schools Out” & “Billion Dollar Babies” (& rightfully so too), but albums like “Killer” & “Muscle of Love” are equals or better too imo. My personal fave has to be “Goes to Hell”.

There’s no doubt either that “Hot August Night” has some pulse-raising, excellent music within it also, (along with some duds too by today’s standards), but you cant have sweet without the sour sometimes lol !

    Peace !

I believe Ivica took issue with “Only Women Bleed” when he elbow-jabbed his Neil Diamond quip, right? ; – )

I thought/think that song great. Alice‘s version remains of course unmatched, but thinking about it, yeah, it has a bit the air of a Neil Diamond ballad, but that‘s nothing bad in my book.

Leiber Uwe…A tune like “Crunchy Cranola Suite” contains a guitar & bass riff that even RB, JP, & TI would have wished they’d come up with…

Sublime riff, right up there with SOTW, Whole lot of Love, even Symptom of the Universe…( And it has orchestra’s playing too lol ).

Really grabs your attention, & makes you want to join-in the fun.

Saw Coop in 78 or 79. Novel stage effect; he had a screen behind him made up of vertical strips of white fabric. At a given moment, he jumped through/behind it and a projector projected his image on it. He ran up and around it with dancing spiders, all getting larger or smaller.

Got me wondering about the smoke someone shared earlier!
