Down all the way
And here are two ex-Purple guitar players jamming together earlier this year, joined by Eric Gales on guitar, Kenny Aronoff on drums, Bryan Beller on bass, and Rai Thistlethwayte on keyboards:
Thanks to Dreamcatcher Events for the video and to Orhun Yakin for bringing it to your attention.
That was excellent, start to finish. It’s okay to say I miss Steve, even though there’s so much of his past material to enjoy.
January 19th, 2023 at 20:58Saw Eric Gales summer 2022 and I recommend anyone to go see him, what a fantastic player, and his own band is phenomenal too. Nice to see Steve on stage again, playing some nice blues here!
January 19th, 2023 at 22:32If Steve is able to jam with these guys, why can’t he play and tour with Deep Purple?
January 19th, 2023 at 22:59Nice version with great solos by all.
Hi Steve, good to see ya.
January 19th, 2023 at 23:51Nice to see Steve Morse out & about. Eric Gales doing a ‘Hendrix’ a killer guitar tone indeed. Satriani say no more, thanks for posting Cheers.
January 20th, 2023 at 01:09It’s a nice video- clip to see Steve on stage again. I hope his dear Janine is well. And, to see him together plays with the best RnR-family in the world at American events.
Album “Whoosh” ,what a wonderful album !!! the older the better
January 20th, 2023 at 06:27@3: There is a huge difference between doing a few shows in your home country and being on a world tour in the other side of the world from your home and family.
January 20th, 2023 at 06:58That was a lot of fun. Good to see everyone having a great time, especially the drummer !
January 20th, 2023 at 09:29Wonderful post!! I miss seeing Steve….
January 20th, 2023 at 10:17Just to add to Svante’s comment, especially when your wife is seriously ill.
January 20th, 2023 at 13:50I have a feeling there is more behind Steve’s leave. Maybe lost motivation, or just became tired to do the endless touring.
January 20th, 2023 at 15:36Yes, being a Purple member is a very tasking commitment for long periods of time – and Purple aren’t REO Speedwagon or Journey, their home market is not the USA, but really pretty much anywhere else.
Add to that how Steve was even back in the day not the most enthusiastic international tourer – unlike the other DP guys, he didn’t suck up touring life with his mother’s milk. DP was the only internationally touring act he ever played with and he joined them later in his life (he was 40) – Kansas before was like REO and Journey very much a “mainly USA” touring juggernaut.
January 20th, 2023 at 15:57Wonderful to see Steve (and Joe) having fun
January 20th, 2023 at 22:14I think so too. He got tired of life on the road.
January 20th, 2023 at 22:21Very happy to see Steve performing, he looks great and did you notice he didn’t need the brace on his right hand?
January 21st, 2023 at 03:08Yeah, the troubles with his hand is also maybe a reason to play less gigs than what DP does in a year.
January 21st, 2023 at 10:18This is awesome. They seem happy and relaxed.
January 21st, 2023 at 15:25Just bought tix for The Steve Morse Band show on Feb 26 at the Ridgefield Playhouse, in Ridgefield, CT.
I hope Steve will make a surprise appearance at the Purple show on Feb 11 in New Brunswick, NJ. That would be amazing.
Hi everybody. What is this track’s name?
January 23rd, 2023 at 09:27@18: Going down.

In Germany, this somewhat Doobie Brothers’ish version was the most popular:

From Jeff Beck to the Rolling Stones to Joe Bonamassa, pretty much everyone with a blues rock background has done versions of it.
January 23rd, 2023 at 15:46That was fun.
