Glenn’s out for the count
Glenn Hughes has tested positive for COVID and will be sitting out the rest of The Dead Daisies’ European tour starting with July 26 gig in Vienne, France. The recent Whitesnake recruit Dino Jelusick will stand in for the vocal duties, and Yogi Lonich will play bass on the remaining dates.
In other Daisies news, release date for their new album Radiance has been set for September 30, 2022. The album will be self-published and can be pre-ordered via their website.
Thanks to BraveWords for the info.
Oh darn, I had a ticket and was looking forward to going on Thursday (Karlsruhe). With all due respect to Dino, it’s not the same for me without Glenn … Let’s see, I might still go.
I can just imagine how this went:
GH: “Hi David, it’s Glenn, I’m down with COVID and we have this European tour, any ideas?”
DC: “Sorry to hear that, old pal, but let me see … I’ve got this really talented Croatian kid …”
In reality, Italian Frontiers Music probably arranged this, va bene!
July 25th, 2022 at 20:14Like the new song, with Glenn’s voice and propulsive bass playing plus David Lowy’s choppy-aggressive rhythm guitar they re really beginning to forge a chiggimg sound of their own.
July 25th, 2022 at 21:47I actually told my girlfriend I tested positive for Covid and decided to stay away for 10 days on a camping site in my own tent all alone with my beer, wine and smoke.
July 26th, 2022 at 19:19Peace ✌️
Whats COVID?

But we have to show respect to the dead.

July 26th, 2022 at 20:54I think you have more chance seeing BCC than seeing Glenn with the DD
This is a typical exit for Glenn, I think he has a problem staying in one place for too long
He has ants in his pants 😂
Peace & Respect ✌️
It’s proven kind of disruptive for the concert circuit!
July 26th, 2022 at 21:43Hey, Adel #3, hope that’s not your real name!!
July 26th, 2022 at 23:20I’d rather see Glenn with Black Country Communion or , better yet , performing Play Me Out in its entirety. BCC were originally going to record a new album in 2021 but that got postponed thanks to both the pandemic and his involvement in this revolving door of a band.
July 27th, 2022 at 00:08Awesome Dino !!

He does it well, but I wanted to see Glenn, that inimitable bassist/lead vocalist combo. Decided not to go in the end (rather had a rehearsal with my own band). But all credit to them for doing the gig.

July 29th, 2022 at 17:11Good news, Dino is awesome so Glenn is going back now to BCC and we get a new album and a tour. Let’s hope it’s a proper tour now with
Joe Bonamassa with him walking out(Glenn I mean) 🤞
If only Glenn can be ever predictable 😂
Peace✌️
You can blame Glenn for lots of things, but not for the demise of BCC, Adel! Bonamassa didn‘t want to give up his day job and Bonham was making more money with Foreigner.
July 29th, 2022 at 22:33I hope this story of the return of the BCC is not true. Glenn Hughes looks much better on Dead Daises.
August 1st, 2022 at 12:52I saw BCC live. The difference between Glenn’s rock star antics (for which I love him) and Bonamassa’s subdued stage presence was glaring and grating. I personally think that someone like Doug Aldrich is a much better fit.
That said, I don’t think that the music of BCC and DD is radically different. It’s easy to either like or hate both.
California Breed which I also saw didn’t work for me at all. Glenn was great, but he overshadowed that guitar kid Andrew Watt so much, it had a feeling of band camp or of a rock-loving high school teacher presenting his favorite pupil on stage. Not in a nasty way, but it became clear to me that it was way too early for Watt to play with a (very experienced) force of nature like Glenn. I wasn’t surprised that it lasted barely a tour. Glenn needs seasoned players around him that can stand their ground, attention-grabbing as he is.

Pacuha, for a second you had me scared Glenn might have performed after all! Phew …
If truth be told, I was never much of a Mistreated (the song) fan (there is not much going on harmonically), but Dino does a fine Coverdale here. And: Glenn’s bass playing is as important if not even more important to me than his singing. I could watch him play bass hor hours. Without his bass playing and his singing, it would have been just another Dead Daisies gig and I’ve seen them already a couple of times with Corabi (a fine singer) and Mendoza (a ditto bass player).
