October 24th, 2021 at 02:39There is symbolism that this concert is being held in Hungary in memory of the unburned Jon Lord. In 1976, Philharmonia Hungarica recorded Jon Lord’s acclaimed album ‘Sarabande’, an original collection of movements inspired by baroque dance suites. The Hungarica Ensemble was a marl-based symphony orchestra. Germany, which existed from 1956 to 2001. Founded in Baden bei Wien near Vienna by Hungarian musicians who fled their homeland after being attacked by Russian troops during ” Cold War”.Sarabande’s album featured old DP friend Pete York on drums and surprising, before “The Police” era Andy Summer guitar play .Album also gave three of Jon’s solo classics “Sarabande” “Gigue” and”Bourée” .Maybe ‘ll be on setlist in Győru,with 1-2-3 Movement” !? As well as two classic-rock songs from the opus Deep Purple “Anthem” and “April” by classic -side “soul DP “Jon Lord.

October 26th, 2021 at 12:23I cannot absolutely not stand a Bruce Dickinson voice and he absolutely massacred deep purple songs
October 26th, 2021 at 17:09@ 9. What !!!!!!
October 27th, 2021 at 12:16I saw the show in Győr. Havent listened to the Concerto for years. It surprised me how deep it is musically. I only listen to classical music -with a few exceptions. I guess Mann did a great job and the orchestra was top notch. (It was interesting to see how bored they looked during the rock bits, nevertheless they performed their part excellently).
November 6th, 2021 at 11:18The guitar and organ were OK, true to the original, no personality or surprises though.
The star of the night was clearly Bruce. 10/10. Extemely good performance, low, mid and high, smiling and dancing throughout the show. The did Hush twice (!). I always hated that song, but Bruce and the orchestra made a miracle. The first time it clicked for me. Incredible groove, people left their seats and started to dance.
Atilla @ 11 – lucky you being there live in concert. I only watched it online all the way out here in Australia on Sunday morning & yes I agree, it did sound better than ever to me. Well I heard things I haven’t noticed before, if that is a way of putting it. I was impressed by Dickinson also, he is a fine lead vocalist & singing here he fitted in well indeed!
November 8th, 2021 at 09:23I had to laugh at some orchestra members looking rather miffed at times, a replica of 1969. Classic. All good though. Jon Lord was on his game back in the late 60’s, more than any other rock keyboard / classical composer was. Well as far as I know anyway. I really enjoyed Perfect Strangers, it worked really well, also enjoyed Pictures of Home, Hush & the very short bit that was available of Ode to Joy. I will have to see if I can find the longer version online. Cheers.
