Globetrotting in Perm
Last October Deep Purple toured Russia and for the first time performed in the city of Perm. The people there are not (yet) spoiled by the international rock stars of such calibre, and the visit drew significant attention in the local media. If you ever were interested what do the eat and drink backstage, now you have a chance to see for yourself 😉
Thanks to Andrey Gusenkov for the link.
This was pretty publicized on the net, concerning what they pre-ordered in the refreshment department.
Even better, there is a a bootleg titled “Russian Air Pilot Shoot” where the Russian promoter and pilot are captured on the plane with the band, prior to the gig which isn’t complete, but it gives a little insight when it comes to this subject. Nice to see Morse practicing in the isle of the plane, and other intimate action.
February 12th, 2009 at 02:46I would like to see it, but I don´t know how to do it.
When I enter the site, it all turns up in russian, witch I can´t understand.
Can somebody please tell me how to do ?
Have a nice day.
February 12th, 2009 at 08:06Dear Forddriving PURPLE fan, I’m sure this tip will help you:

February 12th, 2009 at 08:14…www.kp.ru does not lead to any DP related:-) Is there a direct link?
February 12th, 2009 at 10:26Hahaha, Roger was right: nobody can guess what it is on those paper “dishes”.
February 12th, 2009 at 13:35To Forddriving PURPLE: Don’t worry, nothing special: it’s an explanation what is on photos: flowers to the favourite musician (IG), a photo of Steve Morse with a Permian fan, of Ian Paice with a Comsomol member (Comsomol is a socialist Russian youth organization), some sandwiches, etc.
February 12th, 2009 at 13:45does exist the video on the plane?is it availabel on you tube?
February 12th, 2009 at 13:52how much people where there for that gig?
thanks
No idea how many were there… it wasn’t that big.
No the video is not on youtube, but it’s kind of interesting, and very well done. It doesn’t actually represent this particular gig, because it was in 2004, but they got similar treatment, and as usual, it made better news than the gig itself.
February 12th, 2009 at 15:30Crimson Ghost,
Howdy. Where can I see the plane footage? Am I missing something obvious in this trail?
Thanks a ton…
Peace,
Ted
February 12th, 2009 at 15:34The concert itself is incomplete, but good footage.
And the rest of the DVD contains pictures and film on the plane.
Just yet another bootleg DVD, one of over 500 Purple and family audience shot DVD’s now in circulation.(if you include Whitesnake and Hughes) But the footage is very unique on this one. Contact me at purplexed@msn.com and I’ll let you know more about it, there are many more interesting shows worth looking at though.
February 12th, 2009 at 17:32Eirik: ‘see for yourself’ link will take you straight to the purple gallery on kp.ru. once there, click on the thumbnails to enlarge (you might need to wait a few seconds, as their gallery is in javascript).
February 12th, 2009 at 21:10To Fordriving PURPLE again: Happily today I’ve got more time. Too little place for everything, but I can explain the most interesting pics: no.3- musicians attacked by fans, no.5- Gillan doesn’t consider himself an old man, no.6-Glover drank wine, but only after show, no.8- of course the artists had more suitcases, no.9- the hugest fans met DP at the airport, no.11- English people proved to be gourmands, no. 17- Steve Morse tried on a police officer’s cap. On the top, left, there are buttons for a previous/next photo. Cheers, J.
February 13th, 2009 at 11:29please upload that dvd on you tube!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
February 13th, 2009 at 21:58I don’t upload DVD’s, way too time consuming, I did vine it at the Hub though, have you ever seen that section Roberto?
A DVD from the Purple family is sent to the first person who signs up for it, then that person sends it to the next and so on… many have built their collections just by participating, there is well over 100 DVD’s in there.
But it’s not the greatest performance from the band or anything, it’s just nice to see the hospitality they got from the Russian promoter and the airplane footage.
You know my email address, I could always send you one, no problemo!
February 15th, 2009 at 03:54the problem is that there are too many dvd..so, as asked before, I need a list of best of dvd with tv cameras of ’90 and ’00…I just can’t download them all…You seems you know more than me about dvd…
thanks
(I particulary love gig with many many people and with Gillan screaming)
February 15th, 2009 at 15:00Which one is the best?
February 15th, 2009 at 18:27What’s your favorite color?
Yatta yatta yatta……

February 15th, 2009 at 22:36am I talking to you?
YOU ARE AS A CAT ATTACCHED TO MY BALLS…
…oh my god…
@15
I think you have pretty much tapped into all of the ones existing that you’re talking about, pro shots etc… I can’t think of many that spring to mind that you probably haven’t already seen. This type of thing, there is never “too many” of. Best to support the officials and hope more bootlegs of that nature continue to surface.
You want pro shots from 1990 you say? Good luck, only two that I know of, and they’re the first night in the czeck republic and the other one is from Budapest. I’m not aware of any others, but they did get filmed in Connecticut if I’m not mistaken… but nevertheless, they suck if you ask me, terrible vocal slaughtering of the classics, many lyrics were absolutely forgotten, way worse than Gillan ever imaginable. He should have saved that crap for the shows that weren’t pro filmed, at the very least, lol!
February 16th, 2009 at 00:02Correction, that would be 90, 91, actually, as the record came out in October of 90.(not a huge date expert, like many of the fans and collectors tend to be, I just want the goods, regardless)
February 16th, 2009 at 05:16I said 90 and 00, so from the battle rages on tour on…untill now
February 16th, 2009 at 14:05thanks
The outcome remains the same, I think you have DVD’s of that nature covered for the most part. There is only one in a stack of at least twenty that are pro shot and have stellar performances to boot.
February 16th, 2009 at 19:24ok thanks
