Whitesnake in Brisbane cancelled
[UPDATED] Whitesnake show on the double bill with Scorpions on February 24 in Brisbane, Australia, has been cancelled:
Unfortunately due to a medical emergency within the Scorpions tour party, Scorpion and Whitesnake show scheduled to take place at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre tomorrow, Monday 24 February 2020 has been cancelled.
Tickets purchased by credit or debit card will be refunded in full (including ticket insurance premium and refundable ticket purchase, if relevant) and patrons do not need to take any action. Patrons should allow up to 15 working days for the refund to appear in their account.
If your credit or debit card has been permanently closed/cancelled, please supply Ticketek with updated details in order to process your refund.
Patrons who purchased tickets in an Agency using cash or EFTPOS will be contacted via phone in the next 15 days to arrange for a full refund. Alternatively, you can contact Ticketek.
Further refund enquiries should be directed to ticketek.com.au.
The medical emergency mentioned in the announcement is due to the Scorpions frontman Klaus Meine having to undergo an emergency kidney stone removal after the show in Melbourne on February 19. The next show in Sydney on the 22nd was declared as “postponed”, presumably in the hopes of rescheduling it for a later date, and now Brisbane is cancelled alltogether.
[Update Deb 24] The Sydney show has now been rescheduled for February 26. All tickets held for the Saturday, February 22, show will be valid for the new date without the need for exchange. Patrons who are unable to attend the rescheduled date on February 26 should contact Ticketek for a refund. [/end update]
Whitesnake is scheduled to tour with Scorpions until March 4 in Singapore. At the time of this writing (February 23), there is no word on the fate of subsequent gigs in New Zealand (Feb 27), Indonesia (March 1), and Singapore.
[Update Deb 24] In a completely unrelated development, the Singapore show apparently has now been rescheduled to March 5 with venue change from Fort Canning Park to The Star Theatre. All tickets purchased for March 4 will be valid for the new date and venue. The official Whitesnake website confusingly still lists March 5 venue as Fort Canning Park, while both Scorpions one and local ticket vendor indicate venue change. [/end update]
Thanks to Blabbermouth for the info and to Lutz Reinert for the Sydney update.
Very sad for the fans but they will not get screwed by ticket agencies and will get the full refund. This makes me thank the lord that our beloved members of DP are all in good shape.
February 23rd, 2020 at 19:37God bless them all and all their family and friends and the millions of fans worldwide.
So I’m more than happy that I caught them in Melbourne (perfect timing as I’m coincidentally visiting from Germany(!)- I’m not such a die hard fan to fly to the other side of the planet, especially not nowadays).
DC did quite good and my expectations have been fulfilled as it was the first show for a while.
I was wondering how his voice sounds under these circumstances (most of the recent performances unfortunately were disappointing from my point of view … (vocal-wise).
He was the front man I’m used to see/hear and the band was very good as always (I just don’t like the guitar solo spot – but that’s just me prefering the Lovehunter and Mistreated/Crying In The Rain guitar solo spots of the former banjo players in the old days…).
The whole Scorpions show was way bigger with the lights and LED screens firing on every cylinder – not very creative but massive (and for the drum solo the drum riser was actually pulled up in the air with chains on each of the four corners – such a show insert is always kind of impressing ). But the creative director should have done his homework when in one song all the screens where “waving” the Australian flag (the one with the Union Jack at the canton) as there’s a strong debate about the Australian flag.
Maybe the need of an emergency operation is an explanation for the rather low performance of Klaus Meine (at least at the beginning of their show) compared to the likes of DC.
With that in mind Klaus did a hell of a job – my due respect!
But I can’t really judge, because I haven’t seriously seen any of their concerts before …
For me it was a very special Whitesnake concert that I’ll bear in good memory!
February 24th, 2020 at 12:17As someone who has had kidney stones 4 different times in my life I can tell you first hand it is the worst pain I have ever felt in my life. Having a hip replaced, major shoulder surgery and 4 hernias were nothing compared to a kidney stone. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. Get well and feel better soon Klaus.
