A fairly shallow sort of question

A great piece of history — an ’85 interview with the band (sans the obvious) after a record store signing session in Houston, Texas, during the US leg of the reunion tour.

Thanks to deeppurpleos for the video.

“Have you seen Spinal Tap ??” didn’t get the desired response,I wager. Roger shuts that question down flat.Ian G. seems a tad amused, but impatient with the proceedings, and Paicey has enjoyed a few wobbly pops. Good to see Jon,of course.

Great — the singer smoking and drinking on the day of the gig…rock’n’roll baby!

The US press just didn’t get the cheeky Ian Gillan humor. I found his answers to the rather pathetic questions to be quite entertaining in retrospect.

“then we star playing Child in time and a twenty, thirty percent say “hey, I know that one…” “.

    1984. Sounds funny now, 2019

    “This time is forever” [joking]

well, it turned out to be forever. 2019 and still going on…

    Thanks, DP, infinite thanks.

    Chip @4,
I am born and bred here in the US. Unfortunately too many in the US press just don’t get it. And those that are interviewing musicians should have a modicum of knowledge of the cultures they are interviewing.

I have been fortunate to appreciate our Brit brothers and sisters before even viewing Python in the ’70’s. I’ve been across the pond many times including a two year period in which my brother and his family lived outside of London, the Harefield village. I have a plethora of British mates whom I have worked with for 30+ years. I’ve more than picked up the British vernacular and still run with it. Funnily enough, When I first started in my industry, an ex-Pat out of London and I started a company football (soccer) team to compete in an industrial league. But anyway, ’nuff said.

I’m sure everyone else are wondering where Blackers was? Where’s Mr. Morse when needed, he typed sarcastically….

    Peace,
    Ted
