Deep Purple storms Kuopio (aka My best Purple gig)
I’ve seen the boys six times now, and this one was the best out of those, and one of the best gigs I’ve ever seen.
The band was on fire, the jamming just flowed, every one of them seemed to enjoy immensely the atmosphere. The audience was very responsive, one of the best audiences I’ve ever seen, and the band seemed to notice that.
I never thought I could see Purple in my home city, let alone 300 meters from my apartment, but so I did. It made me proud to see the Kuopio crowd so enthusiastic. There was something special in the air tonight, and I was lucky to be there.
Oh, and Nazareth didn’t disappoint either. Great opener for DP.

August 15th, 2008 at 14:29Rating Gillan’s Screams Now?…..
“Sometimes I feel Like SCREAMING” the responses to these childish simplistic questions, only used to compare…
How the Overall performance….I’s sure that Over All, Gillan and the rest of the boys were AWESOME!!!!!
Cheers
August 15th, 2008 at 15:29Just for the people who are not aware of that,Nazareth is part of deep purple family.Roger Glover was the man who produce many many of their albums. hope like roberto to see them together in france or in australia where I live now. cheers guys and long live DP.
August 15th, 2008 at 16:36I saw Nazareth open for Purple, back in 1976 in Miami Fl. I can’t say I am a huge fan, but they did put on a good show and sounded great (back then). “Love Hurts” and “Son of a Bitch” were local Bar Room staples back then. Other than those 2 songs, I never heard anything else on the radio, and even though I have all of their albums from that era, I can’t say that I really ever got into them. Apparently they aren’t impressing the masses these days with their reformation shows. Read some really bad reviews in the resent music mags.
Cheeers
August 15th, 2008 at 17:42Nazareh opening for DP, that brings back memories of the reopening of the Rainbow (famous music theatre in North London)Went to both nights and it was at the time Nazz were breaking with “Broken Down Angel” with just Manny Charlton on guitar, no poncing about from the Cleminson guy from Alex Harvey’s old band.
August 15th, 2008 at 19:47Hello from western Finland!
I traveled all the way from my home area to Helsinki – only because of my favorite band – Deep Purple since 1970!
And the very next day from Helsinki to Kuopio, where I was able to meet them – again.
They are very handsome guys and they promised to visit in Finland again. I miss them already…
The gig in Kuopio was even better than the one in Helsinki this year. Ian Gillans voice seemed to be in good condition and the whole band – they really seemed to be in fire…
I like Nazareth, too and Bad, Bad Boy is my favorite song. Unfortunately we didn’t hear it this time.
My very best regards to Deep Purple: Steve Morse, Roger Glover, Ian Gillan, Don Airey and Ian Paice,
RockMama 😉
August 15th, 2008 at 20:26Well, compared to Linköping this show must have been awesome, seen Purps over 15 times and I was a bit dissapointed, apparently Gillan was sick in Sweden but put on a show anyways, it was good though but set was cut short and left out Perfect Strangers and Mary Long, hope they come back and set things straight again, best fucken band ever, hope it gets better next time, Cheers!!!
