That old man is one of my heros, always will be …
Cheers
July 31st, 2017 at 23:05Really enjoyed that!
August 1st, 2017 at 12:40Clever boys.
The sound is bad.
August 1st, 2017 at 13:27Classic for a DP’s video set!
@5 – Correct! He is 71 and doing better than most 71 year old performers! So go see this band before they are gone!
August 1st, 2017 at 18:32LLDP!
Cheers..
Really good set- Ian’s voice is in good form, however, they really need to drop Space Truckin’ from the set- his voice just isn’t built for it anymore, and it shows. Other than that, a very strong performance from the whole band!!! Want to see more new stuff!
August 1st, 2017 at 19:05I watched band in Zagreb at the beginning of the tour and sounded much better. Ian’s voice was a tired, probably tense concert rhythm? Hellifest is 21 concerts in only 34 days.
“The Long Goodbye Tour” Live in Europe 2017 can be divided into three parts
The first part .. Hard and Heavy block/ TFB-FB-BS / + SKOW is the fanstacini concert introduction. “Time For Bedlam” live performs powerfully, It’s their Highway Star or Burn, clasic first open concert song” Made in DP , Steve and Don are near Jon and Ritchie
Second part of more “Progressive rock” … I’m outstanding three songs: Uncommon Man-The Surprising-Birds Of Prey are highlights of the concert, fresh sounds, Steve is fantastic especially Uncommon Man and Birds of Prey
Third final part … The Classic : Perfect Strangers, Space Turckin, SOTW, Hush, and Black Night set list for the same years, predictably-expected, no surprises
Maybe missing the classic DP great song Steve Morse era “Sometime I Feel Like Screaming” ? to break predictability

August 2nd, 2017 at 06:53I hope the next “official” footage will include “The Surprising” and “Birds of Prey”
Have a nice Day!

Based on this footage, the Purps are in good shape.Too bad the only new tune aired was Bedlam, but, hey,an hour on TV has to be heavy on the hits.
August 2nd, 2017 at 18:15@ 12- Mike.
August 2nd, 2017 at 22:03I totally agree,Space Truckin’ should’ve been dropped as far back as the orchestra tour in 2o11.
No knock against Gillan. No need that he struggle thru ST when there are many classic tunes to take its place.
@8 and @11
You both are right.
My hero too, but his performing had lost a lot since the last 5 years.
A lot …
I miss the hardrock ( !!! H A R D R O C K !!! ) sound from the Blackmore years.
Deep Purple are like old guys … the are getting softer and loose their drive (= Hardrock-Sound)
For nostalgical reasons … okay

August 4th, 2017 at 06:11We where talking about Deep purple and we talked about the things Deep Purple never have done. One off things they never have done was making a unplugged record. Does someone know why Deep Purplpe never made an unplugged record. We think that it will a great succes to hear them play unplugged.
August 4th, 2017 at 17:29Footage looks great too bad there’s no sound…
August 6th, 2017 at 04:03I love Deep Purple 🙂 I watched very nice show 🙂
August 9th, 2017 at 08:16Only just caught this, great performance from all the guys throughout I thought, but I have to say – is Ian Paice absolutely magnificent or what!!!!!?????
August 13th, 2017 at 09:35I enjoyed this video. Glad the guys are still rocking. They are playing with a little less energy these days, but they still have the feel. Love ’em all and their artistry, Ian Paice is THE MAN!

Common sense says performances will become ‘softer’ with age but this version of Deep Purple is still delivering great songs and great show. No need for any negativity or nostalgia.
As for “the hardrock sound” from the Blackmore years, a myth. Blackmore is unique yes. Technically Morse has a harder sound because he is using a modern guitar with different woods and pickups. The real difference is the intensity between the musicians, something only youth/hormones can recapture and since no one has actually discovered a fountain of youth then you have to take what is put in front of you. And what we have is quite brilliant.
Ian Gillan’s voice has been on the wane since he left the band and abused himself through the Gillan years and beyond. It is what it is but as stated in other posts, the guy is 71.
@10 Buy a better music system, it sounds great.
