    Have you survived your Trojans?
Maybe the answer lies in “Achilles last stand” by Led Zeppelin?

If you haven’t Soon Forgotten, the topic is about DP’s new DVD Bos Set, not about “Your favourite tracks of Dead Zeppelin” 😀

    Annemie:

    Sweet Annemie in Time,
    You’ll se the comment,
    comment that’s written about
    the good and the bad…

    See the blind Purplepriest,
    Shooting at the Deep Purple,
Bullets flying, but they take NOT into all.

Purplpriest, if you’ve been a bad,
    Annemie, I bet he had,
And he’d not been hit by flying lead…

Purplrepriest, You’d better close your eyes,
    You’d better bow your head

    and wait for the ricochet….

And then Purplepriest screaming: aaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaa

I love so dearly ‘Painted Comment’, but I guess DP themselves don’t remember this one anymore! 🙁

    To Purple Priest,
Me for example, know only very little of Led Zeppelin. But it is always nice to discover.I have however a nice DVD/movie from them, but at the moment the title escapes me.

My second band was Black Sabbath and guess my first? 😉

Gotta order someone to burn these lot on some discs for me.

I can’t keep up and do not have the cash for all that.

I suppose the last time I felt genuinely excited(the memory came to me this afternoon while responding to a letter from an other DP fan in Belgium. Hi Charly!)was when I attended a ian Paice clinic in Utrecht around 95.

Some friends of mine got there to see Paicey and one of them had got hold of a review copy of “Stranger In Us All”.

That tape really got some turns that day.

    “Don’t be afraid, it’s the Black Masquerade…”

A few days ago I was humming that song while on my bike(I ve been doing that for years since failing to become connected to some rockgroup as their frontsinger and I never got hold of a driverslicence)and thought :

“Hey, is that little turn not something heard in “Pictures from home” as well?

I guess people will know what I m blabbering about?

I NEVER had the association with ENYA like RB said, sorry…..

The Total Abandon DVD in the North American release seems to be missing the A Band Down Under documentary, even though it’s listed on the packaging as a Bonus Feature.
Hang on to your original copy of Australia 1999 !!

  24. 24
    Annemie says:

    To Mike
I had started with the documentary and the concert Nec 2002.When I read your comment, I checked right away the Total Abandon DVD.
At my DVD the TA documentary of 1999 is added well and safe, but not the very long TA documentary from a yet more earlier version ,which takes about an hour.
I wonder if you have only the short version or really nothing at all?!
Have you formed already an opinion about the Nec 2002?
The forth disc with the DP documentary is great and special, but I had seen most of it on other DVD’s from the members apart..(With Pictures /A Journey in Rock…)
I’m very interested what you think of the Nec 2002 concert!
    Cheers to you!!!

  25. 25
    mike says:

    Annemie,
The bonus feature on my TA disc is only an interview with Ian Gillan and footage from Hey,Hey,It’s Saturday ( Smoke On The Water ).The original TA dvd had these 2 bits as part of a much longer bonus feature, which included the A Band Down Under documentary.
The Access All Areas disc is nothing special in my eyes.It is by no means a comprehensive bio of the band ( Roger merely mentions Coverdale & Hughes, Ian speaks of Satriani)Most of the interview clips were lifted from the Glover/Gillan interview on the NEC disc, and,as you say, some video footage was also rehashed.
I quite enjoyed the NEC show.A fitting “Au Revoir” to Jon.

  26. 26
    Mike Eriksson says:

I can´t see a huge rush from diehards for this, I would love to see the NEC show but that´s one hell of a pricetag for just one unseen show, since I´ve bought the other stuff before. Is the earlier stuff deleted? I´d forgive the management if they also released the NEC thing as an individual DVD, but one wonders why this has not happened before, certainly at the time when it could have helped to support the change in the keyboardsdept. Exactly how good is the NEC thing on this collection?

    Mike

  27. 27
    Annemie says:

    Hi Mike Eriksson,

You are right that is a pity that the Nec 2002 isn’t to buy separatly. However,in comparison with the usual price of one DVD-concert, the price for this box was almost the same.
I’m DP-mad, so perhaps my opinion will not make you wiser… 🙂
The way the concert is filmed, is ‘so close’ that you almost are on stage yourself.I loved that.
Ian Paice is in supershape from the start, and he truly surprises me! The solo he gives in Lazy is also an extremely long one !
Roger is always Roger and that needs no comment…just super, all the way!
For Ian Gillan, I think he is warmed up after a few songs, and then he is amaaaaaaaaaazing!!!
For Steve the guitarsound (I humbly think) is not as loud as for ex. in Perihelion, and his playing is wonderful.I loved ‘the well dressed guitar’ in ‘Montreux 2006’, but this version is the most beautiful I ever heard. Also the solo before SOTW, is strange, SM hearing to play ‘Strawberry fields forever’ Airey is increddible.. His solo( after the most fantastic Space Trucking )is unbelievable. He plays all the show with fantasy, superfastness, humor and with all love and friendship towards…Jon Lord.
In the middle of the concert are a few seonds like an intermission. Then the tunes of ‘Perfect Strangers’ are played, just the way it was in Nec 1993. It is striking, not to see Airey but Lord sitting there on his organ, and continuing…
SOTW is played by Lord and Airey together, and I love especially the little jazzy intro before SOTW of ‘Summertime’ by Airey.
The Highway Star is also done by this two brilliant men, changing their places and being lovely show offs!
Right after the concert Jon Lord speaks about his emotions etc. on this fare well concert, and this is moving.
For all the members on this concert, I suspect them to have taken ‘doping’… 🙂
I don’t know for anybody else, but personnaly, I think the fact of Jon’s farewell makes this concert unic.
The little book added in the box is also very nice and interesting…with some comments on the concerts, and on the DP history and future (even with a little word of Ritchie) , and some views on the line ups, and beautiful photo’s.
So, only speaking for myself,I’m very happy with it!
Cheers to you!!!(and from this day…my favorite beer does not exist anymore! 🙁 )

    Tracy Heyder says:

    Annemie;

I just got a copy of the Nec 2002 show in audio form. It sounds really good. They realy do a bang-up job on the Keyboards together. Everyone is really in top form for this one. Can’t wait to get the DVD.

Cheers and sorry your favorite beer is no longer available. What was it? Mine is a “Black & Tan”…..Guinnes on top of Bass Ale.
