Purple bonanza in Classic Rock magazine
April 2017 issue of the Classic Rock magazine (now on sale in the UK) has Deep Purple on the cover, a 10-page feature Love, Death, Age: Inside the Unstoppable Deep Purple inside, plus a 7/10 review of the new album inFinite, and four pages review of Glenn Hughes’ Islington gig from January 21 this year.
To top it off, the magazine comes with an free Deep Purple compilation CD called Limitless.
The CD includes:
- Time for Bedlam
- All I got is you
- All the time in the world (radio mix)
- First sign of madness (bonus track on some versions of Now what?!)
- No one came (Live in Gaelve — from Now what?! Gold edition)
- Strange kind of woman (Live in Wacken)
- Perfect strangers (Live in Tokyo)
- Black night (recorded live in Milan on July 21, 2013 — previously unreleased)
In slightly related UK promotional news, Johnny’s Band has obtained Record of the week status on BBC Radio 2.
Thanks to Nigel Young for the info.

March 10th, 2017 at 01:51They made a mistake.
“First Sign of Madness” was released on the “Vincent Price” single, not Above and Beyond.
Also, they could have included the vinyl B-sides from “Out of Hand” and “Above and Beyond”.
I bet the “Black Night” will be on Volume 2 of the Live Tapes, on vinyl in the large fan box-set and most likely Japan will get a CD…

March 10th, 2017 at 17:37Who? Purple or the magazine?
Read this issue of Classic Rock.
March 14th, 2017 at 22:26Unfortunately the same old Blackmore slagging is present, can’t they just give it a rest and talk about the years with morse?
Tiresome.
I recently looked (albeit not very hard) for Classic Rock in New York City, but didn’t see it at any of the newspaper/magazine stores that I happen to walk by regularely near my office in mid-town.
March 16th, 2017 at 08:03I am in London this week and was able to pick up a copy of the magazine today at the HMV (His Master’s Voice) music store on Oxford Street. Besides the magazine, there did not seem to be any other noticable signs of Purple-related items at HMV. No promotional materials either related to the new album, but that could (hopefully) change once the album is released.
It is awesome to see Purple gracing the cover of Classic Rock. While the story doesn’t reveal anything dramatically new, it is quiet in-depth and the writer’s love, respect and appreciation for the band comes across nicely. The photos, in addition, are creative and the band seems relaxed and in good spirits.
The magazine is a great edition all-in-all, and it makes for a nice collector’s item. The accompanying complimentary CD will have to wait until my return to the US next week, but it is a nice touch/extra bonus.
I am looking forward to the release of inFinite and to the Jones Beach show/backstage meet and greet in late August.
It will be a great way to end the summer.
The only real problem that I have with the Classic Rock magazine, is that the pages aren’t really soft enough & therefore tend to clog the bowl when I press the flush button…..
March 16th, 2017 at 11:58@7 spat my cornflakes when I read that. 🙂
March 18th, 2017 at 09:05Italy’s Classic Rock magazine (issue 53) out now with 35 pages of Purple.
