Gillan on Russian radio
Ian Gillan has appeared today on the ROCK FM radio in Moscow. He spoke about his current tour with Don Airey Band, the new Deep Purple album, his charity work in Armenia, religious censorship, the state of his relationship with Ritchie Blackmore, and the English national soccer team.
You can listen to his interview on rockfm.ru (scroll down the page for the little black audio player under the text).
Thanks to Andrey Gusenkov (deep-purple.ru) for the info.
Glad to know IG is a fan of Ra-Ra, it makes footy (soccer) look like Riverdance…. (hmmmm, Blackmore’s Night perchance?. Well he did suggest that RB is a good soccer player!) Ian’s sounding quite old & tired in this interview, but very wise indeed.
Personally, I believe the new album will be the final studio effort from Deep Purple. Can anyone suggest a great title for it?. How about ‘The Final Rip-Off’ (lol), or ‘Last Orders Please!’, or ‘Finally The Finale’, or just simply ‘Eternity’. In 1986, when another DP fan asked me what I thought the then new & yet to be titled DP album (THOBL) would be called, I suggested ‘Pearl Of The Atom’!. Of course, way back then we were deeper people….
Anyhoo, my smiles are like my pizzas, they’re big & they’re cheesy & they’re all for you!.
November 14th, 2016 at 23:43Or perhaps: ‘In Purpetuity’….
November 15th, 2016 at 10:32Hopefully it will not be the last. My dream for the last album: All living Purple members of past and present will take part (okay, okay not Mr. Blackmore and Mr. Evans) to make it a great and unforgettable goodbye. Playing old stuff in new powerful versions and new songs. And then once again the Royal Albert Hall – playing the album live. And thats it. And the title? “What a great time…”. Just my dream…
November 15th, 2016 at 14:39Keep rockin’.
Maybe the forthcoming album is the final effort, indeed. Makes me remember the old days in 1973 when we were waiting the follow-up record for Machine Head to be released. I remember reading an artile in a Finnish magazine (don’t remember which was it) saying that the fortcoming album will be titled “Come on Everybody Circus is Over” (refering probably to the inflamed situation within the band). Well, the album to come was Who Do We Think We Are. So, maybe now they could use the title “Come on Everybody Circus is Over”. It surely has been great to follow the journey of this fantastic band. When I first heard the band 1971 it was Demon’s Eye. It hit me like a hammer. Now 45 years later I’m still excited to hear new music from them. I am absolutely convinced that they are able to deliver high class stuff with some surprises.
November 15th, 2016 at 15:54Now that?!
November 15th, 2016 at 21:39It will be brilliant, whatever the title is.

November 16th, 2016 at 03:19If it was the last album then how about:
“Encore”
November 16th, 2016 at 11:16“Da capo al fine”
“Legacy”
“De(e)cay”
“Fade Out”
“Last movement”

November 16th, 2016 at 12:39I did susgest the title should be “Dead End” with a red T sign on the cover.
But after hearing Big Ian views of God. I think it’s clearly title will be “Man Made GODS’
I love the way Ian handled the questions about Richie reunion in the interview.
He is such a beast when handling awkward questions.
“Leg Ends”
November 16th, 2016 at 20:50Ivica@7, that Serbian interview with IG begins at about 19 minutes in. Oh… & don’t forget to follow the light!. Smiles to ya.
November 16th, 2016 at 22:44If they were a modern band, the next album title might be…”Purpose.”
November 16th, 2016 at 23:02It probably tells us that there is generally no one song to base it on, so I expect a wildly diverse album.
November 17th, 2016 at 00:52Well, he states that the album is a natural transition from Now What and it is special to him and he is quite proud of it. Also that they have found their freedom working with Ezrin. With that kind of enthusiasm, a hopeful person as myself may be has hope for maybe ONE MORE for the 50th Anniversary.
If this is the last one, being Gillan once sang in the original Jesus Christ Superstar as Jesus, I think that Jesus’s last words spoken before his death on the cross- “IT IS FINISHED” would be appropriate for the album title.

Don’t name the album at all! No cover either. A blank or plain brown (or whatever colour) paper bag, with Deep Purple printed on it! Like what has been done before back in the day. After all, it is all about the contents inside, isn’t it? Cheers.
November 23rd, 2016 at 10:32Interesting comments about Blackers, a shame in a way. That they will never rock out an old tune together again. Still, never say never eh? That is life as we say! Cheers.
